Vauxhall Corsa-e & Peugeot e-208: The gloves are off with Nicki Shields & Tom Ford /Electrifying

We're out of the Electrifying studio and back on the road with Nicki Shields and Tom 'Wookie' Ford fighting over which is the better electric car - the Vauxhall Corsa-e or the Peugeot e-208.
They might look different but under the skin these two electric hatchbacks are almost identical, with 200+ mile ranges and 136bhp motors. Either would make a great choice as an everyday car as they drive well and have a big battery, so the average motorist would only need to charge once a week.
But they seem to be aimed at buyers with different priorities. The Vauxhall is more conservative and 'normal' with nothing that is likely to scare a driver coming from a petrol or diesel car. The Peugeot meanwhile has a space-age 3D interior and funkier styling.
Which would you choose? Let us know in the comments!

I think the Peugeot looks better when speced accordingly. Its more fussy. The Corsa looks good but I can see why some love how the Peugeot looks.
The reason I'd pick the Corsa though is because of the buttons it has on the inside instead of having to go through a touch screen like in the Peugeot... I think I'm getting old 🤣

Yep, with cornering light through the front fog lights that the 208 doesn't have, but it's the only things the Corsa does better. Is this your first EV? I would advise to buy with caution. since I got mine a lot of free charging has gone and using public chargers is more expensive than using my diesel car. I charge at work for free but its subject to availability. realistically you need home charging to make it viable.

I’ve been looking at the e-208 and Corsa-e recently and I’m drawn more towards the Corsa.
    Comparing top spec models.
The headlights are much better with the Corsa, the 208 doesn’t even have an option for Matrix LED.
The Corsa comes with heated seats and steering wheel as standard, but the 208 doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel and heated seats are an optional extra.
The Corsa is actually quicker to 60 at 7.6s.
If you want keyless entry and start on the 208 your only choice is a top spec model and who doesn’t want that on an electric car.
Lastly, a top spec factory build Corsa can be had for £25k but the 208 is £33k. No brainer really when the one thing the 208 offers over the Corsa is adaptive cruise, I don’t think it’s worth the £8k difference for the same car, mechanics, battery pack etc.

the 208 "better looking outside"? Just look at their side profile at 8:36
the 208 with the GT line? Maybe, but without it the Corsa looks much better imo.
It has a more elegant appearance, especially with the body colored wheel arches.
The black floating roof and the sharp crease in the back around the tail lights give it less of that funny small boxy car look.
(from the side view the bonnet of the Corsa also looks a bit longer but this is probably not actually the case)
Every time I drive past one I am actually impressed by the rear design.
I do like the rear lights of the 208 too but the vertical daytime running lights in the front are too gimmicky.
On the inside I actually prefer the 208 bcause that's where I personally prefer having an interesting and exciting design
and I also think that the digital "cockpit" in the Corsa is an absolute joke.

The value benchmark to beat at the moment is a Tesla Model 3 SR+ even though that is a lot bigger and more premium car with specs in a different league. I don't think these little cars from PSA are worth close to 75% of that. Closer to half the price would be more reasonable.

Cars coming out of the new Shanghai factory are reported to have excellent build quality and I would expect Berlin and Texas to be as good if not better when they start producing.

Is it just me who thinks the Corsa looks better?

The painted interior window frames take your money and laugh in your face. A bit of "sticky-back plastic" from Blue Peter would have worked better than shiny paint. But then most of these will be cheap "leasers" so no one really cares about a bit of tat.

Many manufacturers are looking for experts such as yourself to pay huge sums of money to "Get it right" Too many armchair mechanics here, or should that be technicians (Who know less).

I really don't get their conclusion! I think the Corsa is much cooler and looks more stylish, besides it also more practically designed with physical buttons and a steering wheel which do not block for the virtual cockpit. Especially the front and the Audi look-a-like frontlights/LED looks so much cooler - the vertical LED of the 208 which goes down in the bumper is just a silly view compared to! Also love the Corsa's unusual orange metal color with the black top - its simply more sporty, different and much lesser boring!

Peugeot design has got alot better while build quality hasn't. Buying vauxhall to shift more cars personally I wouldn't buy a Peugeot and I also won't be buying a Peugeot wearing a vauxhall badge nice try.

Corsa all day. The fundamentals are the same but Peugeot's look ridiculous inside and out. Too fussy and gimmicky.

Hideous charmless transport. I have a feeling we are being sucked into EV as the next best thing in the same way we were convinced diesel is amazing...lets look at stats...
