I still don’t really understand why Op went in the first place. Why would you want to reconnect with someone who not only downplays your traume and continues to have a relationship with your abuser, but also thinks you should reconcile with them. Just cause the gf is cool isnt enough imo.

Normally, I'd say it's wise to avoid the abuser. But here, it became pretty obvious that after losing the step-dad, she is basically just a little gnat trying to regain her lost control. And is failing fabulously. I'd say enjoy the show in this circumstance.

I'll admit, this story could have done without the repetition and the extensive comment-and-reply sections. The bulleted section was blatantly copy/pasted from the beginning of the story and the edit addressed the comments and replies just as much. I legitimately had to check and see if the video had rewinded itself.
As for the baby shower, while I do agree that it was overall a bad idea to go in the first place, I can understand that not all of OP's abuse had completely gone away. It's clear the whole "family value" mindset hadn't fully dissipated. That said, I can't deny that seeing OP had fun despite the POS mother being there was very satisfying, and seeing she was so desperate for attention she had to literally bring a headset with a mic just to be the loudest voice available was quite amusing. The whole diaper thing was vile, and I wouldn't be surprised if that lost her some points with the people around her and damaged her reputation. I'm hoping for it actually.
Overall, while the story was entertaining, the reading could have seriously done with cutting out the same old details that were addressed over and over. Such needless repetition was nothing more than unengaging padding for the sake of video length, which I'm not willing to sit through if it were to happen again.

She never got to meet my daughter. She never got to speak to me when she wanted. She has lost all her rights. It is hard not to have a family where your roots are but I am alive, thriving even. It is possible to leave them all behind.
