In Thyagaraja aradhanai they won't accept this as Veena. This is only a Gutar. Grate Vidvans wouldn't accept .if Ravanan alive he will kill Rajesh vaidya. .
Excellent rajesh. You are not only a genius veena player but also a very creative thinker. Are you planning on letting people buy this through your website? The more people that end up playing your creatively designed veena, the more people will get to understand and appreciate your true genius ( especially the few folks here who are spewing negativity without understanding what you have done here)
John McLaughlin, the great Jazz guitarist of "Shakthi" fame was a student of Veenai Balachandar in the 1970's and he studied the construction of the Veena and the sounds and went back to England and designed his own guitar with a scalloped fret board. This instrument is very similar to it. Watch some of John's old videos on You TUbe where he talks about how he fell in love with Indian music and incorporated it into his Jazz.
Those who are well versed in traditional music should stay in that realm to keep the pure classical music alive. It is unfortunate that Rajesh chosing sound over music.

Instrument playing is a divine art with due accord to your goodness in playing the veena it would be nice if you played the innovated veena form RaVna without your shoes on. As a matter of respect to Godess Saraswati the divine mother of knowledge.

very noisy presentation! suffocating! but Rajesh and Stephen are gifted players! The vocal rhythm does not go well with this composition and added to noise only. The soothing effect of instruments and music is terribly missing ! May be they should try some soft compositions of veena on this RaVana and experiment. Fusion is not a loud music one must understand.

Fusion can be anything it wants...that's the whole point...it fuses many styles....it doesn't have to be what you want it to be. Also music doesnt have to be only soothing....there are multiple ends of the dynamic spectrum which requires an open mind and musical IQ to perceive....not just being stuck in one specific end of the dynamic spectrum.
Agreed. That was very disappointing from such a great artist. This can be played in a electric guitar by a skilled veena artist except that there wouldn't be enough dip in the frets to pull the strings like veena. Instead of playing a chaotic noisy one, a good demonstration of the instrument would have been playing a classical raga. Now, it doesn't demonstrate if RaVna is capable of producing sounds exactly like Veena. I would request Mr.Rajesh to play one like that to truly demonstrate the capability. This appears more like a four stringed bass guitar with frets altered with dips and multiple pickups to get maximum sound. This doesn't justify why would someone buy that instrument.

I saw a girl playing the Veena in madurai meenakshi temple.it sounded more like electric guitar.i found a mike attached to the veena's bridge.
Long back Dr Chittibabu used to attach the electronic Mike on the bridge of the Veena and play.
