- So this video is a pre release character analysis of one of the 4 lords in Resident Evil Village, Karl Heisenberg. The Giant Hammer wielding, Lycan controlling, Beastman who may pose as an ally or foe for Ethan Winters in Resident Evil Village. We also discuss his relationship with the other lords of RE village, which are the likes of the tall lady Alcina Dimitrescu, Donna Beneviento, and Salvatore Moreau. As we see all these character assemble together while having Mother Miranda pulling strings in the background.
Also in this video we cover his overall concept design and how his character was inspired from the likes of Van Helsing and older Dracula Movies.
we also do a comparison with Werner Karl Heisenberg the Theoretical Physicist and Walter White Heisenberg and see how our Karl Heisenberg in Resident Evil 8 correlates with these two figures.
Anyways this video is a prerelease analysis of Karl Heisenberg and speculating from all the resident evil village trailers have given us so far and we will cover Karl Heisenberg again once RE Village is released.

I think Karl Heisenberg will be neutral on how he deals with Ethan because he attacks him a few times but always spares him.

Honestly he should’ve gone along with it and tried to convince him that they didn’t need his daughter to take down Miranda. Would’ve been the safer option I feel like, but Ethan probably wasn’t thinking too clearly that late into the game 😬

Same! I really wish you could have accepted his offer. At the very least have Ethan agree then betray Heisenberg later (keeping with the theme of killing the lords) so we the player at least have the satisfaction of agreeing or disagreeing. But then again we're getting into choice based gameplay and that's a whole other can of worms. Still

If you've played the demo, there's actually a note, if im not mistaken it was written by lady D, in the note it says "meeting for business with the duke" or something like that.
So i guess the duke is actually a friend with mother miranda and all 4 head of the houses, and thats kinda make sense since he can survived in the middle of a village/castle surrounded by monsters.

I have a feeling that Heisenberg has motives of overthrowing Mother Miranda by gaining her favors and is butting heads with Dimitrescu who might be considered a nuisance to his plans since she is very loyal.
His plan could be to use Ethan to weaken the three houses as well as Mother Miranda by pushing him and use the excuse of 'fun' on purpose.
That would be awesome, We know for a fact that Alcina Dimitrescu doesn't really favor his motives

That moment when you spend a whole video calling Heisenberg a Beast man who turns into wolfman holding a hammer then the game releases.
Yeah, it confused me too, and I thought he was the big beast, but nah. He's totally not. He's got his own unique quirks, and this guy nearly missed that Heisenberg's ability is actually Magnetism, being able to manipulate only metals, not objects in general.
I feel like Karl could've had a neutral ally type ending, like sure he's not a "Oh I just met you & you just saved me after everything I did to you, let's be BFs" character, but he sure as does feel like a mercenary/bounty hunter minus the bounty payment.
Well, he tried. Truth is that Mr. H isn't the hammer wielding werewolf looking guy. His powers is to manipulate magnetism.

In the wiki due to the experiments his organs are electro charged which allows him to control magnetic objects as well as molding himself with it by expanding his biomass.

In the scene where everything starts to float around Heisenberg, well it’s all only metal items. Hinting towards some sort of magnetism being used possibly. Rather than something supernatural.

I love how capcom is being accused of plagiarism, for the sturm design. Heisenberg is in my mind clearly Frankenstein, playing the game and reading his notes his motives and morals seem similar. It also fits with village paying omage or referencing old classic monsters like lady D being Dracula and moreau being the creature from the black lagoon

I will probably end up being wrong, but considering they hinted at him being a possible friend, i think this is how it goes: for whatever reason, Heisenberg is not particularly fond of Alcina at the very least (maybe even Mother Miranda and/or the rest of the lords), and sees in Ethan a potential ally that could help him bring them down, so he plots to capture Ethan and then submit him to his "game" so that Ethan can have a chance of escaping while ensuring that Heisenberg's cover won't be blown, and at some point after that, Heisenberg meets up with Ethan to discuss his plan further.
Like i said, i'm probably wrong, but this is my take.
Im with you man I think the same thing that Karl uses those games to fool the other houses in thinking that he does this for fun but in reality he is finding a way to help Ethan escape.
i think the same as you, but i think that he probabily will be the real main villain and doesn't have interest in helping ethan but himself with his schemes.
Now that the game is out. You were pretty much 100%. The only problem is we forget that ethan can be an ass. He had a chance to team with Heisenberg but blew it out of pettiness.
Now that the game is out, i made some comment that im gonna copypaste here to see what i commented to people who still doesn't understand that he's the most evil villain and smart in the game. But yeah, i loved him as a villain!
Here's the comment:
Miranda caused all this yeah, but she only wanted her child back even tho maybe she doesn't care much about the four lords, she still loves so much her daughter after more than 100 years, in that way, she is tragic.
Gonna explain why Heisenberg is the most evil of all the villains:
1. He is the first one to meet Ethan. He then captures him and offers him to Miranda, why he didnt help Ethan back then? Of course because he didn't know him and didn't know he had potential to use him to defeat her.
2. Alcina Dimitrescu just defended her castle and she loved so much her daughters, Donna Beneviento lost her parents and she was mentally ill and traumatized and only wanted to talk with her dolls, Moreau just wanted love and to be accepted, Miranda just wanted her daughter back, she lost it back then when she lost her, she even has Heisenberg being the most dangerous and powerful lord from the four, he has the best treatment from Miranda from all four and he is the only one to be against her in that way. Meanwhile Heisenberg, just mocks Ethan at the start, until he is the last one, because he knows Ethan is going to kill him, and then he acts like good with him to manipulate him but fails (i would loved if he accepted and then Heisenberg betrays him and became the real final boss after they defeat Miranda together), when he fails to manipulate him into that because he wants to use Rose against Miranda and to become more powerful and surpass her, he told that he only wanted Rose for power in his boss fight, he even told Ethan on that TV that he would kill Ethan if he would be of no use to him. He only cares about himself. A pretty good villain tho.
3. He used a lot of villagers for his metal army he didn't care about the villagers and his "family", as he only cared about himself and becoming more powerful than Miranda, but he wanted to use Ethan to defeat more easy Miranda and then he would betrayed him for sure, as he wanted Rose for him for power. He has a rather darwinistic outlook on life, believing that the strong will destroy the weak. He has so many undead slaves on his factory working for him. He is so narcissist too.
i can say more, but is that enough? i hope all of you who still think Heisenberg is good and not evil can understand now...
He does have a pretty cool villain theme tho (and its mercenaries theme too, but originally Heisenberg's). And he is that good as a villain that he still as a character with his charisma manipulates some players that still think he is good and not evil at all. You even can see the evilness in his boss theme.

His hammer and the big lycans hammer are completely different, and nothing I've seen on here makes him look like any kind of friend to Ethan
He does later in the game but that quickly changes and is 100% not the larger lycan, as Ethan kills it but Heisenberg is seen later in the game

I was obviously right about the latter, quite obvious if you're familiar with Roman Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby" about a high society apartment complex that slowly seduces a mother into birthing the Antichrist. Ethan even calls her Rosemary.
The Winters surname was obviously a reference to the Village an their purpose as heralds of the Family's genetic successor.
Surnames are obviously a major plot line in the franchise as their last name identifies their nationality or purpose. Such as Kennedy, Valentine, and Redfield, all Anglo-Saxon in origin similarly to Spencer, Ashford, and Edwards or Wesker who was a surname project.
They're Resident's of Evil.

Heisenburg isn't a friend in a way of saying that he wanted to help Ethan. I think there's a lot of evidence to suggest that he instead, wanted Ethan's help. Most of the attacks he leads on Ethan in the first parts of the game don't actually try to kill him but rather they seem like he's testing Ethan. He knew that Miranda and the rest of the lords were powerful and that if Ethan was going to be of use to him, he had to be strong. Heisenburg also had to hide his plans so he couldn't spare Ethan from being mangled and tormented.
I even noticed it was odd that when he was dragging Ethan to Miranda, he said something to the effect of seeing what Ethan was made of.

Honestly, Heisenberg reminds me of Lumina from Lightning Returns in the sense that he neither helps nor hinders you and likes to spread a little chaos.
I really dig the vibe of this game with the stereotypical monsters used. Between Dracula, werewolf’s, Frankenstein’s monster and so on. Was a different type of twist put on the series for classic horror movie buffs. Little references trickled throughout made it a fun little experience. Yeah maybe the story got a little off the rails for some people... but I thought it was a blast to play. Even still with mercenaries and playing through on the harder difficulties now to unlock things. Hope there will some dlc for the lords ... and maybe to continue or answer other questions as well. 7 really covered its bases with continued dlc, and before hand dlc .
I am curious how he is controlling the metal, is it through the impurities within them because the metal he controls look dirty, rusty, and old that use to see better days?

Karl Heisenberg is a interesting character, he may potentionally reappear in future re franchise.
Heisenberg reminds me a lot of this Final Fantasy XV enemy character.
