UPDATE #2: Thanks to Xenia for pointing out that the Equal Genetics Mod with alien eyes does not work on teens. You need to make a slight change in the file in SimPE to make it so your teens get alien eyes. Otherwise, when they become teenagers their eyes will change to a normal color. Look in the comments for that mod on MTS for instructions.
UPDATE #3 - You need an additional mod to get the miscarriage memory. It doesn't come with the mod as I thought! There is a link in the instructions page for the mod so follow that if you want the memory. Thanks Hendrik!

ACR, Simblender, Community time mod, Fitness decay, simlers Disease mod
Sim Manipulator is one of my favourites at the moment. It is so practical in so many ways. It's similar to the Sim Blender, but with more options. At least I feel like it has more.
The creator of the Townies Budget mode that you mentioned has lots of other mods that basically improve a lot of the in-game systems/features by making them more realistic: hobbies, social interactions, temperature, etc. I found them quite interesting.

Living for this video! I think one thing about The Sims 2 that scares me is CORRUPTION. I lost 2 full on weeks of gameplay, modifying terrain, making full on complete lots making more sims and ancestor sims due to corruption that I accidentally did with SIMPE and editing the memories. I had a backup but I basically lost the 2 weeks of gameplay! It would be an interesting idea on what to do to avoid corruption and if there is a way to fix it!

Batbox can fix a lot of corruption. Just click memories and wipe corrupt and clear the gossip. That will get rid of most of it.

It bothered me so much that some lots in vanilla game have parking spots (for example, the shopping lot in strangetown) but the game doesn't generate cars to park there! These car related mods are so useful!! I think I'm going to download the body hair generator as well because this is something that I never knew existed but is really essential

Yes! These are exactly the kind of mods I look for in my own sims games, I have such a hard time finding “best realistic mods” lists that aren’t made up of only woohoo mods.

I also have a question if you’re okay with answering it: how do you make those little tooltip bubbles appear when you hover your cursor over buy/build mode items?
Those appear automatically when you hover over something in build/buy mode. I'm not sure why they wouldn't appear for you. Maybe you have a mod causing a problem? You may want to ask for more help on MTS if you aren't seeing them. Sorry!

Just to let you guys know that the Equal Genetics mod, the alien eyes one, doesn't work on your teenagers! You need to make a slight change in the file in SimPE to make it so your teens get alien eyes, otherwise, when they become teenagers their eyes will change to normal colour. Myself and Nopke both posted instructions on how to fix it in the comments of that download so I hope that helps!

love how in depth this is! when you showed your downloads folder I gasped. I now realize I have been sorting my downloads like a caveman. I would just all dump all my .package files in the first level Downloads folder lol. Because of this, I’ve always had problems finding stuff so broken meshes and objects just stay in my game forever. The way you sort them by buy, build, CAS, and mods is brilliant!! You just solved a problem I’ve had for a longgg time. These videos are going to be so helpful for anyone in the future who needs some sims 2 guidance. I sure as heck learned a lot 😅
I quit the Edukashon iz gud and do it manually with the job stopinater because I dont even let my sims be a nurse (level 3) and so on with no education or I dont mind them rising up as a criminal with no degree.
That's a great idea! You have much more control over it that way.
I've never liked Edukashon iz gud for the same reason. Needing a degree to be an athlete, musician or criminal is just as dumb as not needing one to be a doctor, lawyer or scientist.

Wow thank you for the video! Love how you explained everything so well and showed exactly where to get all the mods and stuff. I’ll get them for sure! Some I saw the first time while binging your sims 2 lp :D (always do this while playing sims 3). The ones I personally already knew and use, are the hacked pc and sim blender. And I think the sim blender is my general must have mod. It’s just soo awesome and versatile to be able to do so much with just this mod and set the sims up and stuff!

I LOVE building my neighborhoods and missed it so much when I got Sims 4 and even 3 with the limitations, by comparison to Sims 2. The "parking lot" mod is EXACTLY what I need! That is so cool and fun, I can't wait to add it to my game! :D
The Inteen mod also has an option for silent pregnancy and miscariage and also birth Control, I really like this mod and had it in my game for ever
Yes, that's true! I don't recommend Inteen usually because it conflicts with many of the mods that I regularly use and recommend. But it's an old classic that I know a lot of people still use. 😀
I know i'm quite late with this, but I reccommend adding some of your CC to a custom collection! I added all my Hood Set up items into one collection to make it easier to add skies, the car spawner, sim blender, etc to a lot when I'm sweeping through the town for the first time, then I add other things I use frequently such as the hacked computer, air conditioners and batbox into another collection so I can just open it up to add things into a new house! It's very helpful, in my opinion, and makes it so I dont have to click around the other categories to find them.

Omg! I downloaded the "death by pregnancy" mod by midgethetree, which apparently gives a 10% chance of your sim dieing in child birth, and omg Cassandra Goth died giving birth to her second child!! :O

This isnt a mod as such but it is basically a shortened version of the cheats (boolprop -----)
It needs to be placed in EA Games/config folder and you need to scroll down for it but it will be a download.

😂 I love this video because I used your blog when I reinstalled TS2 a while back to start my downloads folder so I have most of these! Except the hacked computer as I find its features a bit cheaty. And Edukashun Iz Gud I don’t have because I have other hacks to make jobs and promotions harder and pay less, and bills are higher and come more frequently. I figure that’s enough challenge for my Sims, so I don’t need to artificially prevent them from reaching Level 10 as well - life would be way too hard!

Thanks, Cindy! My simming style is so much like yours and I'm just so grateful that you have spent so much time sharing your gameplay and how you set up your games with all of us! These realism mods are so great! I think it would add a lot of depth to the game if Family Sims got sad if their Try for Baby failed. As far as I can tell, the success or failure of Try for Baby doesn't even register with the involved sims. Do you know of a mod that does this?

The only mod of note I have installed is "community skilling" which is essential IMO. It allows you to gain skill points out of your home lot, without it Gyms/libraries are absolutely pointless unless you make a business out of them. I guess it's a bit of a cheat because you can just put a bunch of expensive objects on a community lot and use them without earning them but w/e. This could be balanced out with a ticketing machine if you want.
I've also ALWAYS wanted a mod that adjusts sim bin founds either customly, or based on how many people are in the household; 20,000 at MAX is good enough for like 2 people, I wish it would give 10,000 founds per adult and 5,000 per dependent or something.

1. If you use no20k, I recommend adding in Pescado's Money Order. With that, you can decide exactly how much money a Sim who moves out gets. You add the amount that you want the Sim to take with them to the money order and put it in their inventory. If you're moving out multiple Sims, you have to put it in the inventory of the Sim who uses the newspaper or computer.
2. Maybe Coral's going to have to move in with her daughter!
3. How do the skies and skylines affect your performance? I'm playing on a really old computer.
4. I still use the old version of the Community Time Project because I play university in the main hood and I really like how the mod handles it.
5. Is this Tarlia's fixed Pleasantview? I'm trying to figure out where the blonde hair came from. I assume Jennifer has a red recessive (since her brother has red hair.)
They don't affect my performance at all, but I have a good computer. However, I suspect they wouldn't impact it much even on an old one. :)
Yes, this is a clean Pleasantview. I think John has a recessive blond since Brad Burb was blond, so I assume that's where it came from. And if Jennifer has a recessive too, that's probably why they keep having blondies in my game with equal genetics. It is fascinating!

Idk who I want to do this, but I want a sims CZcamsr to recreate entire family trees into one game from the family founders taking from all the games- like combining all the family trees into one! If I had the set up for recording, I would myself, but alas, I cannot.
Love this video! I wanna mention a mod I love as well that is very useful for LGBT players. As we all know sadly gay marriage is not allowed in sims 2, it says "partnership" instead. But there is a mod that gives you transition serums so when your male sim for example drinks of the drink the game recognizes him as a woman and gives him a femal voice as well. And now your male sim can actually MARRY another male sim and the memories will say married and not entered partnership. The mod also makes it possible for men to be pregnant so you can make genetically correct children between two of the same gender.

There's actually mods for "marriage equality" to make it so all marriage memories say "married" instead of "joined partnership" as well as same-sex pregnancy! I've been using these mods basically since the game first came out. I know this is an old comment but I know there's a lot of people still getting into the game and learning about these mods even now!

Phaenoh's Let Kids Be Kids Lifespan and School Vacation Mods on Mod the Sims. The Lifespan fix is optional- some people prefer their own set-ups for age spans. But the school vacation mod gives kids a summer break and a "Winter's Day" holiday off from school that has changed my gameplay. My sim kids and teens get a lot more of a chance to develop personalities and make friends when they have 5 days off school for summer break, versus the constant wake up-school-homework-fun need-sleep cycle.

Hi Cindy I’m having trouble whenever I load up my sims the custom content doesn’t show up :( all the hair and clothes are not on there. I followed everything correctly just used my zip extractor that I previously already had for my sims 4 modding I’m not sure why it’s not working
