IKR. I think half of these terms were midwest slang. I grew up in Michigan and Indiana and drove around the midwest continually. I knew about 70% of these.
In Quebec (Canada) we do the same in French, it's the translation of suckers = suçons

As a fellow Ohioan, let me explain what Sweetest Day is:
In the 1920's, a group of candy makers in Cleveland created Sweetest Day and passed out candy to those less than fortunate people: orphans, senior citizens, etc. It was not intended for taking out your sweetheart like Valentine's Day. However, it's origins don't seem to be remembered as everyone treats it like a 2nd Valentine's Day.
Rite Im born in raised in Cleveland, I actually just planned a date night for this weekend October 17th for sweetest day, I'm taking my husband Axe throwing and to dinner lol, I forget it's not a national holiday, also I was raised believing sweetest day was for the male in the relationship
I had never heard of it until 1998. My husband & I got married on Oct 17 & I saw on the calendar( after the date was set) that it was Sweetest Day. Still married so it must be a good day to get married 💞

I was today years old when I learned that not everyone knows what Corn Hole is and “suckers” isn’t a universal term. Also, Put-in-Bay is not in Cleveland… it’s off the coast of Sandusky, which is closer to Toledo, really. Same with Cedar Point.
As for Sweetest Day, it was started in Cleveland by a group of candy makers and wasn’t intended to be Valentine’s lite. It was basically a day for handing out candy. Originally they gave out candy to the poor and disadvantaged.
Also, Cleveland is a great town.
