It's funny how some of these reviewers keep saying these cartoon figures look good. They look like crap in my opinion. I like that Anthony keeps it real. Hasbro is reverting back to the crap figures and people are eating these up.
Happy to see someone out there giving an honest review. Hasbro has been releasing too many embarrassingly bad figures recently, but somehow there are still so many collectors out there defending them - they must be suffering from Stockholm syndrome or something.
Hasbro isn’t going to do better if the fans convince themselves to be satisfied with mediocrity.
It was so moving to see Master Chief having some actual respect for this figure by ending her suffering like that

I'm curious what do you do with the figures you don't like? Do you resell them or just keep them in storage?

He flushes them down the toilet. Saw him do that in the review of that funny looking Dick Grayson Batman figure of the old Mattel DC multiverse line.

I fear that the upcoming cel-shaded Spider-Man is going to run into many of the same problems these Cartoon X-Men figures have, which would be a low blow to me since Spider-Man TAS is one of my all time favorites.
To be honest, it’s the SAME body as the new Amazing Fantasy/First Appearance one. If you want the definitive version of that Spider-Man, he’s unfortunately apart of the “Spider-Man and his Amazon Friends” 3 pack. If the only the reds matched. You could have switched it and had the DEFINITIVE TAS figure.

QOTD: I like the comic look too. She looks better with her hair flowing freely rather than in a ponytail. I have no idea why the show runners settled on the ponytail. Storm looked pretty good in a ponytail, though.

This is easily the worst one yet in my opinion. I was pumped on announcement because I missed the Love Triangle 3-pack and I loved the old cartoon. After I saw this, I just bought the Love Triangle because the cel shading is so bad. I would not display these if they were free.
Whenever I see a thumbnail where the pose is a quizzical Kanye shoulder shrug🤷🏾♂️, I KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT, I’m going to enjoy the no holds barred, funny yet truthful review! Keep on keeping it real!
What you think about collectors buying figures just because the package looks cool? It seems like they don’t care about the figures anymore for example the new Gost Rider the figure looks bad but many collectors are excited for the package, don’t sacrifice your honest opinion or the respect of your followers just to get reveals and free figures
Take a shot everytime he says generous or has a photo of the figure flat down on it's face in a Marvel Legends review. I have been charged with 34 felonies while playing this game. Hasbro, please start making good figures again.

I'm coming to terms with marvel legends just being shit, I'm not buying them anymore. I'm glad hasbro is at least giving transformers a lot of love right now but the price keeps going up on those too, at least the quality isn't horrible on those (apart from yellowing plastic).
The more and more I try to stay loyal to Marvel Legends at this point I just can't...I've just been collecting Mafex when it comes to Marvel characters

Hasbro is making a very compelling case to just stick with imports. I'd rather buy one $90 SHF or Mafex over 3 of these $30 half-baked happy meal toys in a VHS box.

I've been saying for several years now, this entire line needs a reboot. Better articulation, more inspired paint schemes, more innovation, more effort period. The Hasbro ML team has been coasting on cruise control for a long while now cashing in on the line's earlier success.

I like this figure more than I thought I would. She looks great in person and excellent next to my other xmen figures. paint job on mine was good. but yeah, the price jump doesn't seem justified

That head is a perfect visual representation of "derpy". When I think of something that looks derpy, that's exactly what would come to mind.
Fair is being negative when it counts. And you my friend hit it where it counts. Please do not change the way you review, it's practical, reasonable, and because of the product you HAVE to be negative. This piece of plastic is the worse version of Jean Grey that has ever been released, and we all know how well Toybiz did females (Mme. Viper, Emma, Wanda etc). End of story. I certainly would love to know what is going on behind the scenes, but the best I can reckon is that when the Marvel contract was extended in 2020 it had provisions that changed the way Hasbro makes the comic based ML figures. Those provisions probably included an exclusivity clause and a severe budget hit, essentially handcuffing the Hasbro team.

Bump from a year ago.. I’m STILL looking for a good Jean to go with my Hasbro ML. I may get this one because it’s super cheap 3rd party.. use the second head and repaint the hair

Literally the only one that was worth it for me was Jubilee just because I did not have that version and I'm avidly looking forward to morph because that's the first time we've got that version of the character
I love the X-Men and when they do this type of crap it makes me sick 🤢 then I throw up 🤮 when I see the prices for half ass effort. Then Hasbro talks as if they put the actual effort in making these figures.

No. They are a huge company. I have no clue what their costs are. Not number wise. I know generally their profit margins must be damned nice considering the reused molds and production quantities.

My jean came with her feet pigeon toed and she basically refuses to stand up on her own but other than that I don't really mind her. I think the Mafex version is a much better quality overall but it's also significantly more expensive so that tracks.
This is one of the figures that broke my ML collecting habit. Jean just looks... bad. Straight up terrible--especially with the ponytail head. I might buy the occasional figure here and there when I can't get them from another company and I love the character (preordered Quake and the new Beast, for example), but I'm done with ML until Hasbro fixes some of the issues.
At this point only one out of every 15 figures hasbro releases are worth getting
I prefer the comic style myself.
I think that for these they should've just skipped the cell shading.

I'm actually really confused that they didn't give her any sort of psionic effects. It's Jean Grey and she comes with no effects to make it look like she's using her powers.
The figure that turned me off of the cel-shaded X-Men line completely. When they announced her, I cancelled my pre-orders and was done. These are not good figures or good repaints and the cost is just too much for so little.

These X-Men are a huge disappointment. I almost with they didn't add the shading at all. This way I can scoop up the figures I need for my 90's X-Men collection, without them standing out.

Fr tho it's pretty sad since this version of Jean grey is hard to find and trapped in a three-pack with Wolverine and Cyclops. Also crazy expensive on the second-hand market. So we finally get a somewhat affordable version and it looks like crap.
I'll go the mafex route.
Yeah, you are better off getting the MAFEX one or you can wait for the eventual update from Hasbro with the new body mold.
The thing about Hasbro is that they can't really sell the "definitive version" of a figure because that gives them an excuse to sell another one. Best example is the 80 anniversary cap. Cool figure, bad colors, meh headsculpts, then they release the Toy Biz Cap with nice colors, shield with holes, not pinless and worse hips than the other one for some reason, that way they can sell a pinless cap with a different shield...
It's a huge scam lol

Hasbro, where we're constantly redefining the bare minimum! This Jean is pretty awful. That head sucks, the hair sucks, and why couldn't they get the color of her costume right? Who is approving these paint masters? It would be even worse if the artist for the box art wasn't clearly basing his artwork on the finished product or else the box would just call attention to how inaccurate these are even more. At least Morph looks like he might be okay? As does Mystique. I'm hopeful this Jean represents the bottoming out for this subline, but that's probably hoping for too much.
And as an aside, I'm guessing you saw they gave you a little shout out during their San Diego panel? I was definitely a little surprised by the courtesy considering the sentiment of 90% of your Marvel Legends reviews. Keep it up though, nothing changes if they only hear the glowing feedback.

@@AnthonysCustoms they were just listing off the names of CZcams reviewers along with their "catchphrase," which for you was something like "We're taking it off the stand with Anthony's Customs, doing 'Comparison Time' with Pixel Dan..." and so on. It was part of their introduction and they thanked everybody for making their videos.

In order to bring back the "customs" to Anthony's Customs, I am throwing down the challenge that Anthony should start fixing these Marvel Legends he keeps bashing , or from any company for that matter * coughmcfarlanecough *. I wanna see the improvements he suggests become reality. One figure per month, one update per week is all I ask. What do you say?

Whats the point of this figure? It gives Hasbro the opportunity to overcharge for a piece of turd, knowing some people will buy it anyway. Thanks to those buyers, Hasbro will continue to release turds.
