Do you think Vader should be able to use force lightning?
Yes and no. I do believe he should be able to manifest it however I do not think he should be able to control it due to a lack of hands. That said, why can't someone make it canon that Darth Vader eventually replaces his extremities with organically grown tissue from his own DNA so he could at least have use of his own legs and arms? It'd make that suit smaller and easier to handle as well. And if that's no good, why can't he use a kyber crystal-made optical interface from his flesh to his fingers to channel the lightning and allow him to direct it. Considering how powerful and resourceful he is, it makes so little sense that he would leave himself hamstrung in that suit until ROTJ. It makes ZERO sense. Anakin wanted power and sitting in that suit granted him so much less than he had when whole, I would only believe 90% of his pre Luke obsessed life would have been growing and learning as a Sith Lord which he barely manages and Sheev doesn't want, less powerful or not. It is an obvious plot hole. Disney should retcon this with a statement that Vader could use force lightning but wasn't adept at it due to the suit. Having him not be able to manifest it at all outside of a lightning shield is ridiculous.
@ccoonansr I definitely see what you're saying here. However, I feel like Palpatine would make sure that Vader was never able to augment his suit so that he was always in pain. That's probably the best explanation for the plothole.
@@DaBlueBountyHunter Thing is they are both fan made histories. In canon there is no real reason why he can't use it. Anakin goes from a kid that tinkers with everything to an adult that doesn't? No, that makes zero sense. Vader would have wanted to tune that suit any way he could and those arms aren't part of ANY vital system. Plus, his ability to use force lightning and his inability to defend his suit from it can be two different things. I really hope they retcon this. He uses his hand to force choke people. He used it as Knightfall Vader from his robotic hand as well. Yep. Huge plot hole. imo. He doesn't need his legs to use force jump or speed, he doesn't need his hands to move objects from the walls and throw them at people. He can, in canon, create a lightning shield that he can then project at someone. I want to think that he can use it just fine. There really is no reason he couldn't. You can stop a starship from escaping but you can't figure out how to use force lightning? There's just no way.
