Pretty biased review. It's fine to call out changes but too many exaggerations about the differences between the model years favoring the 2022. The boomerang side vent is fully functional on the 2021. The 2022 front end is arguably nicer, the rear of the 2021 is nicer. The gauge cluster of the 2022 isn't as nice as the 2021. The 2022 infotainment display is nicer. The 2021 wheels are nicer. The Type-S is not faster than a G70.

@@TheRedRaven_ the Type S weighs more and has less hp. I've also seen the Yt vids of the G70 pulling on the Type S up top.
Other than the infotainment display of my 2021 G70, I have no complaints about the car. I think the 2021 face looks meaner. Can't wait for my GV70 to get here 😊
I have to agree. I think the pre-facelift front end looks better. The 22 and later models don't look bad, but I don't think it will age as well.
21 looks way better. The 22’s back looks like a dodge neon.
I’m telling you! That 2019-2021 g70 is just better looking overall! (Specifically the rear of the 2021 is beautiful, and the 22 looks basic and like a Hyundai)
I agree! I don't like the rear of the refresh. Badging looks bad. They got design right the first time.

Yeah right the older one looks better give them a year to get their design sorted out I don’t like the grill on the new one it’s over doing it. I’m about to buy a G70 3.3 2019 sport the 2022 has a few features like the camera for lane switching and I like the camera I have it in my current civic but i prefer the lane sensor because u have to look anyway to see the depth the cameras don’t really show depth like a mirror does so it’s kinda stupid

I've had both versions, I prefer the 21 exterior by a wide margin, the rear section on the 22+ just doesn't look nearly as good as the earlier models. Only real advantage on the newer ones is the larger touchscreen IMO.
Your videos are excellent. I was desperate to buy this car and you made it worse when you did the Launch Edition review. However I could not find one with a sunroof under 48K! Looked at the base version at 44K which did not have a sunroof. Can't justify any car being in the mid 40's and not having a feature like a sunroof included. Ended up buying a 21 330i instead.

I have a 2023 g70 sport 3.3t and when I rev it on comfort mode the exhaust still pops. All modes except ego mode.
Looking forward to get one only thing I don’t like about the older one is the small screen, it looks tiny even, but anyways il see what deals I can get I probably wouldn’t pay more then 5k more for the 2022+ model
Your best bet to avoid most water spots on any color or finish is by not washing in direct sunlight then drying immediately after. Of course, every car is prone to spots, it’s impossible to avoid them completely. The color that would show more would be the darker (Mallorca- pronounced like the Country with that name). Sorry. My intent was to add constructive criticism not to be condescending. It was a great comparison for the most part. I’m trying to decide between the 2. I do love the ‘21 look better. It’s not that the new one looks bad, it looks awesome. The 2019-2021 design reminds me of my Sonata that I would buy again had they [Hyundai] not completely butchered the looks.
So I looked up some 2021 G70s and some do come with the 3D gauge cluster here in the US… wtf genesis, this should be a standard on the top trims…

Exterior looks are tied between 2021 and 2022. I like the center console of 2021 more, but Infotainment of 2022 is better. Glad that boot space was increased, but still below industry average for this size. Rear legroom is still disappointing. I don't know why they would remove powered tailgate in a luxury sedan. Engine of 2022 is more refined, but remain gas guzzler. A 7 year ownership of this gas guzzling sedan would make up for the price differential with a 3 series in gas.
I have to be honest, I don't like the 2022 refresh. I don't like the crest grille and front fascia. I don't like the split headlamps.
And I miss the fog lamps.
I don't like the rear end - I think it's butt ugly (pun intended). The oversized exhaust ovals...yuck! The "GENESIS" script is unappealing.
I don't like the half-physical, half-digital gauge cluster. Jesus Christ, make it either all-physical or all-digital, but don't do half and half!
I don't have a problem with the 2021 infotainment screen.
I miss the boomerang side vents. They gave the car character. Now, the G70 is blah.
You are correct: I prefer the more luxurious appearance of the 2021 G70. Its front grille is jewel-like!
The fact that the 2021 model borrows design cues from Bentley is a Good Thing. Some people mistake the car for a Bentley and that is so frickin' cool!
In Canada, the 2022 G70 cost CAN$2,000 more than the 2021 model (I was looking at the 2.0T). That's a good chunk of change.
So after seeing a lot of your comments on most 22 G70 videos, it's clear you own a pre-facelift and have to throw in your bias into every 22 G70 video that has released. A lot of your complaints are merely opinion based, but it's mostly just throwing shade at the facelift. Many people agree, mostly in 22 G70 videos without bias that the facelift is a nice addition and warranted to join the other line of Genesis which has similar headlights, taillights, etc.

I agree . The pre refesh front and rear end are more appealing to me .
But thats just my opinion.
A front grill should not comprose 80% of the surface area. Also, the 22 rear end is too bland and corporate. Other than a bigger touchscreen, nothing new here except different makeup on the same pig.
2022 has better front. 2021 wins from the rear.

My biggest gripe with the genesis is: lack of storage compartments. Also, why couldn’t they hide the front usb like the stinger? Now you’ll be left with a cable (probably a standard 3 ft cable) dangling with a phone there. And because the lack of compartments, you may even put things there. It’s not recessed or anything, and it does become an eye sore.
The interior is okay, kind of like my 2021 CX-5. It’s not like the gv70, when you sit in you’re blown away. Or even my 2016 golf R. It’s just meh

Awesome review! It seems like a downgrade on the 2022 to not have the power trunk lid or the 3D gauges! We need to ask Genesis why they omitted those options.

@@abusambinsammysometimes it does that if it’s in sport mode but if it does that in eco or normal mode that’s weird.

If getting the g70 id get the older model, if the new one had the new front but older lights on the back it would be perfect. The new g80 is the only way to go, the old one is too dated.
