I think people forget that Ateneo contained Lucero in their Round 2 elimination game: 0 pts the whole game. .. and won Game 2 with him playing and scoring. So even with Lucero in, Ateneo with Coach Tab's brilliance will work a way around him. And isn't UP the team with the deepest and talented bench in the season? So missing 1 guy should not have been a problem.
But I think it will make more difference if zav is not injured

Kouame is playing hurt too all season long and Ateneo never used that as an excuse when they lost to UP,, LaSalle.and NU during eliminations

No one notice but the key why admu wins is limited time na bigay kay padrigao sa 3rd at 4th. Mostly wala nga si padrigao sa 4th eh. Kase sakit talaga sa mata eh. Walang depensa. Iwan sa pick and roll then. Daming crucial tip pass. Kahit saang laro nila sa up. Oo scoring yong specialty nya. Pero nababawi yon sa turnover nya. Sobrang tagal ng rotation ng bola kapag asa kanya. At mga pilit na three pt pagminsan. Good job coach tab sa pagbigay ng limited time sa kanya. Naless errors nyu.

sorry for this, i guess the underdog narrative is acceptable becuase a lot of people counted ateneo out from the teams who’ll be included in the final four. plus the up team was considered the “stronger squad/team to beat” all throughout the season. even without lucero, up still has more “talented” players compared to ateneo.

The championship window for UP was partially shut down after Lucero got hurt in Game 2.
This game proved that luck was the only asset why UP won last season. Ateneo could have a 5-peat already if not for the buzzer-beater Game 3 last season, but revenge still sounds good.

Yes si Joseph Obasa naglaro instead of Kouame nung WUBS Championship since bago2x lang yung injury. Mejo butter fingers pa si Obasa but I'm sure under construction na yan kay Coach Tab. After Obasa, meron pa silang next FSA si Kofi. Coach Tab is really prepared for the next seasons.

My observation… even if lucero played for UP, i don’t think they will make it. Ateneo played good basketball in the first half.. admu boys were confident because their 3 pt shots were falling and it was truly hard to defend ateneo. the UP run was a bit late.. malik wasnt much of a factor and cagulangan was defended well since game 2.. again this is just my opinion.. baka may magagalit

I think the turnaround for me is that the failed henry galinato dunk. Di lang napatay momentum nila nung game 2, but until game 3, di na bumalik yung rhythm ng up. Hence, that gave ateneo the momentum coming into game 3 kaya grabe yung run ng ateneo 1st quarter pa lang.
