Lib Dems' Ed Davey "Can't Survive" Over Role In Post Office Scandal Says Trevor Kavanagh

  • The Sun’s Trevor Kavanagh says the Liberal Democrats leader “cannot survive” in politics over his role in the Post Office scandal.
Sir Ed Davey has faced criticism over turning down a request to meet campaigning sub-postmaster Alan Bates in 2010 with the Lib Dem leader insisting he did raise concerns about Horizon with the Post Office but was repeatedly misled by senior bosses.
A new law will be introduced to exonerate hundreds of Post Office branch managers caught up in the Horizon IT scandal with Rishi Sunak saying they were victims of “one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in our nation’s history”.
It comes after Post Office minister Kevin Hollinrake said there has always been a “sense of urgency” over redress for victims of the Horizon scandal but stressed the “complexities” surrounding full and final settlements.
Trevor says “Ed Davey will be lucky to still be leader by the weekend. His entire political life is stained by this one huge error.”

Agree Davey has to go, but not only him, Horizon was introduced in 1999 - and is still employed today. Labour and Conservatives exclusively in power during this , under the Tories, Vennells given her honour and PO allowed to spend on lawyers challenging all Sub Master legal cases. Go after them all Talk TV, not just the ones that are politically advantageous to a right wing point of view. Go after them all!

If Ed Davey is really sincere about
his answer then he should give back the money he received from the Post Office legal team. The fact he received money for helping the Post Office case against innocently accused of which they committed perjury and perverted the course of justuce is enough for this man to not only say "sorry" but quietly retire from "public service".

Imagine one of those leadership debates and whilst he out canvassing he can be constantly reminded why no one will vote for them. Surely better than just letting him slip away?
