    This is a superb video. I was nervous of my machine at first but now I am doing a large quilt (quilt as you go) and the effect is wonderful. Jan, I have noted what you have said about QAYG but I am not truly following your method for joining the blocks. I am a devoted Babylock owner and have, amongst others, a Triumph which I love. Can you give me a bit more help in relation of joining the blocks please.

    • @overlockjan23
      @overlockjan23  Před 3 lety

      Hi Jacqui. Once the blocks are complete, stitch them together, wrong sides together, using a 4 thread overlock and decorative thread (I used Woolly Lock) in both upper and lower loopers. Join into stripe, then stitch the straps together in the same way.

    Is there a way to know when to replace your needle? I've been sewing approximately 12 hours on the same needle and notice that the thread is randomly breaking while sewing on tightly woven batiks (which could also be the problem?).Other than that I love this machine! Thanks for the excellent video.

    • @nouveau3599
      @nouveau3599 Před rokem +2

      I've been watching a lot of videos and somewhere I learned that you only have to replace a needle when it breaks. I also learned that batik fabric is the hardest to stitch through as it is so dense or tightly woven. This machine does better with a little looser weave than batik. The thread might not be strong enough. You could try a different thread.

    • @overlockjan23
      @overlockjan23  Před 3 lety

      Hi Allie. It's most unusual for the needle to break, so it would be worth getting your dealer to take a look at it.

    Needed to have a deeper throat to be able do king quilts...

    • @overlockjan23
      @overlockjan23  Před 3 lety +3

      Because it is not free motion, this does not really apply. The King sized quilt. with the appropriate "bicycle clips" type holder will happily fit in the throat. We also find, as you're relying on feed dogs to transport the fabric, that QAYG is more appropriate for decorative quilting.
