I would like to point out two things: 1, the British and French designed and built tanks roughly simultanously, with the British being the first to use them, the german ww1 tank design was a haphazard attempt at countering those tanks. 2, while shotguns where talked about a lot in the media, in a fight in an actual trench they weren't as usefull as they might seem due to the Americans keeping most of the spare ammo in paper cartridges while fighting a trench war... yeah half the time the ammo of those things just refused to fire

You sir need to do some research on ww1 tanks. the GERMANS WERE NOT the first to develop tanks. They were opposed to even perusing the tech until late in the war. The first tank to be used in combat was Britain's Mark 1 Male and Female tank. The first built proper tank prototype was from Austro-Hungarin in the form of the Burstyin tank.
