The moment I saw the little girl was carrying the celery, i knew she would eventually snap it in half. Coincidentally, I was wondering why the grocer didn't cut/snap it in half, prior to sale. It's a nice presentation, but keeping it whole makes it slightly more cumbersome for customers.
He thought that was a giant piece of celery. A mistake anyone could make.

袋は大きいため、子供では引きずってしまうと考えられます。衛生面の懸念もあるため、店員はそのまま持たせた方が良いと判断したのでしょう。
