When techno was techno.
Such a simplistic statement yet so bold and truthful.
Ahahaha yea, WAS, now is pretty garbage
Exactly my friend 👍
When we knew why and one another.
@@easttennstudent Jason here and all is well. The best music ever.
I was there live. Such an awesome night. Derrick Carter was mingling with the crowd, had a drink, had a chat, danced my ass off. Those were the good ol days.
One of the best techno session ever. Still love it 22 years later
@56:41 was so crazy live back in 2000 candyflipping lol
@@stevencoardvenice 😂I bet...thats crazy
😊
@@23jazz24it was nuts. Me and my friend were just laughing at how nuts it was. Went outside for cigarette breaks because it was so intense. Not even possible to dance to this stuff when this wall of sound is vibrating through you at the rave.
And cox was up there behind the tables enjoying every minute of it. Dude knows exactly what he's doing. Sinister.
@6:40 this track live is insane. Sounds completely different. Hard to explain. It's so hard. And cox starts grinning and smiling because he knows everyone is hearing it properly for the first time
Dude that sounds awesome...I still feel it like from around 39:00 until whenever ...I always had to make sure this CD played at house parties ..and loudly😎@@stevencoardvenice
2000 great year for techno, trance and house all around…beautiful. Classic CD
This is real techno, this is real DJ. And you are real because you listen to this.
I started as a Dj because this set. Thanks to the King!
Moja prva kaseta od Coxare 🤣🇧🇦🖐️❤️
A new ti si
This is my favorite set by cox. Chicago was so crazy back then White Star lounge, first 3 years of crobar being open, rive gauche green room vision, I could go all day what a great set by Carl Cox
This CD never left my car in the 00's.
Love the pitch changes while mixing from the turntables.
That's normal I guess Mr cox might be t greatest of all time in t industry
I had the CD as well.
That's exactly how I felt. I had a CD bag with about 50 CDs. But it rarely left the radio. When I heard it for the first time, I was addicted. I think there's something magically intoxicating about it.
22 Years Later, I’m Here Again . . .
Real techno and the BEST of the best - doubt anyone will beat this EVER…23 years later and I still come back to it to hear the true techno sound 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
all old and real generation was here... the real techno!
Still a banger 20+ years later. I had some fun nights at Crobar.
This set is epic. The sense of nostalgia. So much years have passed and it looks like it was yesterday.
Could be t set of t year in 2021... no questions asked
Technics sound! ❤
I hear you on that nostalgia note. My dad got this CD when I was first discovering music, and I have 15 years later, I'm still hooked. The crowd adds so much to this set too.
@@mychaelsoltero9579this stuff live 20 years ago was insane
When Cox was Cox, when he was the real king of techno, now he's one more in the commercial pile. I liked this type of cox better.
When techno was banging on three decks, not this minimal shit today, this mix is godly:)
Long live old Carl Cox :)
I just saw him Saturday I wish I still have him for decades
well, it's banging again these days :)
Today the darker harder stuff is the deal!
@@blazguzelj7880 not really
@@prodshapi4079 alright what do you think?
I would pay hundreds of dollars to see him mix this same set again, live. Perhaps the best set ever recorded.
The master of house - *bowing*
Kakav lom i dan danas!!
I ja to mislim dan danas
Up stairs in VIP this night as Psycho Bitch warmed up the crowd before Carl came on. Spinning on 4 Turntables Carl Cox put this mix down. YES, This was done on 4 Technique 1200's - LIVE!
21 years later, hard to comprehend I was there to see this Set LIVE at the OLD Crobar in Chicago!
18 years later , I'm here again
The ordinary stereo doesnt do it justice. Live it's insane
same👊
21years :)
The energy in this mix is incredible. Non stop. Barrels of sweat in the club that night.
You where there??
@@VonTaylan somebody was !!
@@VonTaylan Ya it was 2 double staxs then at 5 am it was on to XL
Yes I saw him in 2000 at monster massive here in l.a. candyflipping. Good times. It was another dimension. I had to o take smoke breaks and leave the tent every 30 minutes, because the intensity was too much. Cox was really enjoying himself
@stevencoardvenice your story gave me goosebumps. Such a magical time.
I picked this up at a Best Buy on a whim when I was like 12, it was definitely a CD that grew on me, I didn't really start to like it until I was around 16, but now listening back to this is definitely a great album to have had in my cd collection.
I was 20 when it came out. Listen to it on acid. This set sounds completely different live at a rave on the huge soundsystem with the bass vibrating your chest. You cant even hear the treble and the melody. Its just pure percussion. Just sounds like gunfire and explosions
Holly fuck 16 years already!
BUDDY HOLLY!
18 :)
The sound has a color of being vicious, unrelenting. From the depths of of my soul it beckons, a calling for my conscience to synchronize with a wild river of ryththm and life. Was fresh when I heard it back then as it is now. Thank you, lord techno of the soul.
one of the best mixes ever
4 sure
... is Mauro Picotto at Mayday 2001 in Dortmund. Have a nice day :)
damn straight!!
Jeff Mills @ the Liquid Room 95
@@oscar01rod Yes it's so great
i dont even know how many times Ive listened to this album. saw him here in Vancouver in 2000, greatest night ever.
Around t century turn it was peak imo
This was a golden age for tekno, I have heaps of these tracks on vinyl.
I heard all these tracks here in los angeles in 2000 at a rave. I was on LSD. Good times. Carl Cox was on 3 turntables
Music will always be music. It's people's perception of music that changes the meaning. There are good cats out there today still making that sound we grew up loving. Carl Cox provides so much momentum in this set and to this day sitll brings everything to the table musically! Peace to all still working hard making these enormous sounds!
Carl Cox is the best DJ in the world. Classic Crobar mix. You know it's classic when he is spinning on tables
My all time favorite club, was there the night of the recording.. amazing..
I envy you
I too envy you...
i get shivers. imagine being there
By far my favorite DJ along with Umek and Chris Liebing.
also Joey Beltram, he made some awsome tracks back then.... like forklift and energy flash some examples
Frankie bones, mistress Barbara, John selway, list goes on and on
Marco Bailey? The Advent? Mauro Picotto? Dj Rush? :))))
Best set ever! 20 years later and is still the best Techno set ever mixed by the GOAT.

Amazing mix. Still 17 years later it sounds fresh and inspiring. They were good times for dance music.
2021 and still sounding great
i miss crobar (the old crobar). people that listen to EDM will never appreciate electronic music for what it is or where it came from. they took all of the music that we had to sneak out for, that we had to go to abandoned warehouses for, that we had to get maced for, arrested for - they took it and everyone with a computer was allowed to be a dj. they called their parties raves. they called their shitty music techno, trance, house. now they have crap festivals with crap djs to take their money. EDM is the poison that will ruin electronic music.
Stfu you butthurt loser.
we were born 15 yrs early, but still got to hear the best
cats smith Well said Cats Smith! This was Carl at his best and still is.. The style he played back in the days rocked, solid techno music, tempo was faster and more energetic nowadays the sound is more groovy and still hard. EDM suppose to be just a music genre out there but they over marketed and made a pop-kind of dance music and called it innovative and fresh but honestly it's stole styles from early days rave peaces from here and there and they called it EDM. That's only producing hits hits hits... Just to fill the gap that the record industry was missing in the pop industrie, sorry, but that's not what electronic music is about.
I had this mix CD back when it was released I played it out loud on daily basis. No EDM can beat that, period!
cats smith The nice thing about is yo've been there at the time that it did mean something to you what now has become a lifetime experience and most of all the memories stay forever :)
cats smith it will come back to its point, just wait. there is still a young generation producers and dis out there rocking this stuff an pushing it. give it a years or so, and the 134 bpms are back, so we can bang the groove. but never ask the old festival summer vibes they are just gone. i know what you mean.. DJ Rolando Jaguar echoes of the stab banging back from the mountains across the river.. such good times Sonne Mond sterne festival
I didn't hear this for a long time after it came out but yeah the man Carl Cox owning it in Chicago I love it....💃🕺💓
Carl Cox in Höchstform.....Eines seiner besten set's ever!!!!
I had this on CD - freaking awesome set!
Carl Cox Un Maestro
2021, still rollin. How the 3 deck wizard makes magic that CDJ Players dont even know of haha
Cox és o king do tecnho set perfeito 👍🤪 já te escutei no pacha ofir portugal
mugen mix Nambuka Remix. Bendito internet.
Man, so sick. Spinning techno back then was so similar to spinning hiphop. You could cut into the next record, scratch, backspin and you didn't play the same record for more than 2 minutes out of sheer energy and anticipation for the next sample, kick, snare or hook. This mix is a solid example of the amount of energy that this music had back then. Also, those awesome little swirls in the pitch, correcting for the mix. No sync button or bpm counter needed. Them were different times :)
It's called skill
özledik ulan özledik! böyle müzikleri özledik!
Old is gold...epic set
This set was one of my first techno sets I listened to. This is the set why I started going to the parties. True masterpiece!
I never left before it was light out! I would open a club like this. Met so many cool people including celebrities. Place was just different in all the right way for me! I’m getting excited just thinking about those long nights!
So lucky to have seen him in Vancouver in 2000. I was absolutely drenched by the end of the show.....relentless. Fucking amazing.
I heard this album when I was 11 years old and that's where my love for Carl Cox began.
Still in my CD's collection! Epic set
Honestly... best part of the mix is the blending of this three songs...
The Medley - Nigel Richards
Cry Baby - Aphrohead
Definition Of Love - Destination
Cox used the Aphrohead - CryBaby (Junior Sanchez Remix) as a truly master!!! Pitchin' it, fast and keeping the soul untouched!!!
This is by far the very best of technoset session of the master Carl cox
The best Tech-House CD of 2000!!!
Viva COX!
@David Mander but why so loud?
By far my favorite D.J. Mr. Carl Cox Chicago Crobar 2003.....BOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Got this on CD like 20 odd years or so ago....BANGA TECH HOUSE. KING OF techno since the late 80 London 🇬🇧
This cd was on a repeat in my lada 21099 in 2001
Still one of my fav mixes.....12 fucking yrs later......The Cox is a golden god!
Who else was there? What a time to be able to party 🙃🙂🙃🙂
Gau Patel I wasn’t at that particular gig but saw him play many times in the U.K. same era. Myself and two friends had the job of recording all of the DJ’s onto Dat tape we would play the sets hot out of the machine on the way home at 7.am the next morning... epic times!
@@dannykl6883 that's awesome! You must have an epic collection! Post them up 🙂

Millions of ppl happy and just for that I show you my hat ... this is history .... so.many afters
I use to call this 2 am or 4 am music. Late in the set when the DJ would just let loose and start creating mixes. However Carl Cox WERKS his set from beginning to end. Love this!
That's called peak hour
I grew up in Hungary and not knowing better I attached the cable from TV to the radio's antenna to listen to Radio 1. Recorded a good few sets of Essential Mixes then copied a few of the tapes. Some I never saw again lol
Absolutely when techno was techno and i’m glad i’ve been everywhere live!!!
Summer 2021 and it still gets me!
