2,8 million cars of the Volvo 200-series were produced during 19 years. Here we show an early model and the last 244 built. Volvo Museum turns 25. We celebrate by presenting highlights from Volvo's long history
I had a 1976 242 DL that I traded for a used 1981 Saab 900 Turbo sedan. I loved the Saab, but the reliability didn’t compare with the Volvo. The repair costs of a high mileage Saab are so astronomical compared to the Volvo which was trouble free with the exception of it eating exhaust components at least 1 time per year. If my old Volvo was the 4sp OD instead of automatic, if it had the passenger side rear view mirror, tachometer and the old crank sunroof, I would’ve kept it. When Volvo had the 3 speed automatics, the engine would be roaring at 70 MPH and the gas mileage was poor because of that. I put 6x9 middle of the line speakers in the rear deck, a $40 amp/equalizer and a decent blaupunkt head unit in the Volvo and to this day, I haven’t had a better sounding stereo in a car. That Volvo trunk somehow made incredible bass.
LOVELY volvo 70s,80s
