Hi, I am new to this FT8. I have had a few contacts, but as the call signs are scrolling through on the left hand screen, is there a way of filtering out the stations that you have already worked so I don't end up calling them twice in a short space of time?

Hi Pat, thank you so much for commenting and watching the video. That is a great question and what I do is use the checkmark CQ only. So you only see people calling CQ. Once you have them in the log the color will change. In WSJTX go to settings and Colors. There you will see Decode Highlighting. Those are hard for me to remember so I use a companion program like GridTracker. Please see www.k0pir.us/gridtracker-wsjt-x-and-log4om/ Thank you again and I will have more on this later. Best 73!

Been playing with SSTV on 2 Meter's fm. Using mmsstv a signal link to data jack of yaesu-ft-7900. Probably won't continue to tie up a signaIink on 2 meters, but just playing around. I downloaded WSJT-X latest 2.6.1 and the help file. I can't set a shift on the radio to 1kc for the freq of 144.174, but likely just for ssb anyway. I can get it to key the rig with "Tune" into a dummy load. Haven't tried it on the band via any mode. Any idea what might be the best mode to play around with this on 2-meter fm? I've done a bit of digital mode work on my hf rig, but never any weak signal / ft8 stuff.

It's nice to hear from you and thanks for commenting here. Great question. I haven't tried digital on 2 meters, yet, except for APRS. APRS packet is FM so have you looked into it?

@@HamRadioAdventures .. Just looking into it now. Did packet years ago and still have a pk-232. I managed to get the current setup transmitting packet / aprs into a dummy load. I hear those transmissions on a scanner, so it is working. I'm using the programs UISS & Soundmodem. There isn't much 2M activity in my area anymore.
Right, there probably isn't much on via the other modes - seeing it is FM. Thanks for the quick reply.

I have wondered why someone would require eight simultaneous receivers, such as those within the FlexRadio Flex-6700 when SDR with various software programs already allows folks to observe so much traffic with one receiver? Moreover, most high-end transceivers already incorporate two receivers. Are people actually fully utilizing the Flex-6700? Thanks, Newell WA2AXY

Yeah you know I think it’s a really good question. I’m willing to bet most guys don’t utilize it very often, if at all. I bet there are some that do though and some contesters. I don’t think I would, two receivers seems to be enough for me. Best 73!

@@HamRadioAdventures Thanks for the fast reply - you've put together some very useful videos, particularly on how to use software. Thanks very much. Best Newell

Wish you had used a higher resolution for the screen capture. The video is too fuzzy to see clearly. :-(

@@HamRadioAdventures You're right. It looks better now. I guess CZcams was still processing the video and presented me with an unfinished product?

CodeMasseur yeah I don’t know why they do that. I think I might try scheduling the video and see if that makes a difference. Thanks and best 73!
