Here is 'Babul Mora Naihar Chhooto Hi Jaaye...', the legendary thumri in the version of Trina Chatterjee. It is set to Raga Bhairavi. Being a thumri, the raga essentially becomes 'Mishra' in form allowing aesthetic liberties to the singer.

Great Thumri by Great Nawab Wajid Ali Shah of Avdh.
I have been listening to this song by various artists for the last few days.
Wajid Ali Shah the king of Awadh ( Oudh ) had written this at the time of his banishment from his kingdom.
This was so poignant , the words had created a lump in any throat.
Today when I heard this rendition the pent up dam burst and tears flowed forth.
These seven or eight lines have so much of pathos and the rendition.
Divine.

Nice and sweet but while singing, NAIHAR was repeatedly sung as NAIHAAR as were some other words, giving some jerk in the ears used to more correct reptoduction of the words in the lyric. May be it's because Mrs. Chatterjee was singing not in her mother tongue.My apologies to Mme. Chatterjee.
