I think it surprised me to be emotional during True Colors. For the most part, Trolls is silly and sweet and built for children with a wink and nudge at their parents here and there. Then, Branch starts singing and I'm like "I'm not crying -- you're crying!" JT really hits those notes like an angel.
A shame that the Trolls toy franchise can't carry its DreamWorks Animation self and the old school tween animated series from DIC Animation/WildBrain studios. More audiences, more money.

I love how unique Anna Kendrick's voice is that even when you can't place it, you know you've heard it before!
I think the biggest strength Trolls had was the build up to True Colors. The entire movie is a whirlwind of gags, glitter, and rude humor, everything going 1000 miles an hour, and buckets of cloying sweetness. It also has recognizable pop songs and insane characters in a crazy world. Then when things were at their worst, they let the scene *breathe!* No jokes, no pulling punches, long pauses, the characters were going to die and Poppy rightfully felt awful! You realize that you have actually come to care about these pieces of marketing. The emotions they captured with these characters were stunning and handled perfectly! You don't see that in movies often, especially for kids!!

Call it cheesy, call it corny, call it what you will, that True Colors scene is one of my favorite animated scenes of all time. My daughter made me watch it the first time, but now I'll suggest it as a break from the dumb shows.

I KNEW the scene where Branch got his color back was going to be an over the top romance moment and it was going to be out of the blue and sudden and Poppy at her worst but with ALL the trolls relying on him and a beautiful duet of True Colors, it felt so EARNED and its just gorgeous. Even if the rest of the movie wasn't so fun and wacky (and a little predictable) that scene is perfect
The Trolls version of True Colors is hands down one of my favorite songs. Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake really killed it.

It was fun learning how to show each other love. It took a bit but we figured it out. Learning more everyday.
My daughter has some mental health issues and she was pretty young when we first watched this and heard this version of true colors. She cried and said that’s her song so I had a friend paint the lyrics on a big piece of wood in the colors of her bedroom and it’s hanging in there to remind her it’s ok to be who you are and feel what you feel, but no matter what you’re going through I’ll always see you.

This film had some straight up bops that got my dad dancing when we watched it in the cinema 😂😂
I genuinely love this film. It's sweet, fun and has a great soundtrack, as well as a great message. To be fair, I saw this in the cinema at a very appropriate time in my life as I had just started counselling, and to reward myself for a particularly difficult session, I went to see this film right afterwards. It fit in so well with what I had been talking about in my session as well as being such an uplifting film, I could not help but leave the cinema feeling so upbeat and moved. As a result the film will always have a special place in my heart.
Billy strikes me as someone who gives off some of the best energy in church when the pastor starts to lose it and the band starts to get involved and everyone just starts dancing, praising, and hollering. You be dancing Billy? I can see you doing that little leg thing they be doing when their really feeling the spirit lol

Trolls was (along with Megamind) one of the biggest surprises ever for me when it came to animation. I did not want to see it at all, thought the trailers for it looked stupid and it was a dumb premise. So happy to be wrong. Unfortunately because I loved it so much I was so hyped for the sequel, Trolls World Tour. It ended up being the second most depressing thing to come out of 2020.

Agreed. I said about 10 years ago the only way they could redo a Super Mario Bros movie out there the first disaster one was to do an animated one. This looks so good and I think it's going to be the biggest animated hit of the year and definitely make over a billion dollars
I'm excited for all of the MCU movies, scream 6, Creed 3, Indy 5, mission impossible 7, Super Mario Bros movie of course and so many more. I am cautiously optimistic about all the DC movies as I like the first Aquaman and Shazam and while I don't know much about Blue beetle I absolutely love Xolo from Cobra Kai

This movie is very cutesy and very much aimed at a younger demographic but I am not mad about it. Sometimes you don't need anything super heavy; sometimes you want simple feels, familiar and fun music, a lot of bright colors and textures. Y'know, the sort of thing that it'd be fun to have edibles to.
Me and my daughter really enjoyed your reaction! She drove me crazy with this soundtrack when it first came out (it grew on me)!

This is one of my favorite kids/family movies! It’s fun for both kids and parents to watch..The music, the comedic timing, the message. Everyone who worked on this movie did a GREAT JOB!
I have an obsession with this franchise, and I could NOT stop laughing at his reactions. And I was very glad to see how much he liked it.
The movie's on some anime-aging/appearance logic here, and it used to really trip me up. At first I thought that Poppy, Bridget, King Gristle, and Branch were in their late teens based on how they look and behave, but they are all older than 20. The key to realizing this was that 20-year timeskip at the start of the film--when Poppy was at least a toddler, while Bridget and King Gristle were young children. Branch was a young child during his Troll Tree imprisonment/Grandmother's death flashback, which makes him older than Poppy by the time the Trolls escaped the Tree. We don't know how old, though. In any case, Poppy has to be at least 22, while Bridget and Gristle could be in their mid to late twenties. I'd assume that Branch is the oldest of the bunch, who could be in his late 20s to early 30s. It certainly explains why he is the way he is. He was born in that cursed Troll Tree, and has probably *seen some sh!t* long before his Grandmother got picked off.

After watching this, me and my bro had like an hour long discusion about how there must be some kind of pheremone that happy people give off in that world that reacts with stuff to make it bright and colorful. like the world is covered in some kind of bacteria that change color when exposed to it, which is why everything literally starts popping into color as they dance at the end.
I remember finding this movie harmless tbh. Ik it isnt Dreamwork's best movie, but it's cute and fun, and has some great songs in it!

in case you haven’t figured it out by now, there were 20 years between the trolls, originally fleeing Bergen town, and them getting captured again. That big party was the 20 year anniversary. Therefore, poppy, branch, King Grissel,, and Bridget, who were all young children when the trolls originally freed would now be in their mid-20s.
Trolls rule! I hope you review the third movie when it comes out this fall!
I really liked this movie the first time I watched it with my daughter before I had my son. Then she made me buy it and watch it another 287 times (at least) and it became an instant headache lol

It's been awhile since I watched trolls but I think this is really good animations one of my favorite parts was branch helping Bridget talk to her crush and the part where sing true colors I don't know about anybody else I thought song was beautiful and it touch in feels when you see poppy go from colorful to grey she was the most optimistic, determined and positive than to see her lose that

Hey it may be a kids movie but it got me through a lot. I was obsessed with it for several years haha, I wrote fan fiction, made fan art, I really loved this movie 😂 even now it still holds a special place in my heart ❤

The first time I saw the movie poster I rolled my eyes. I didn't see the trailer and assumed it was gonna be so dumb but I was bored so started watching it. And I was pleasantly surprised how good it was! I love it and honestly I love the sequel even more!

12:00 BE CAREFUL. Chicken pox are completely harmless *IF* you get it before you're 12 or so, you get itchy but that's about it. When an adult gets chicken pox they experience horrible pain in every muscle in their body and the disease is life threatening. My father got it when he was in his mid 30's and...okay so my father has an abnormally high pain tolerance, he once broke a toe and didn't freaking NOTICE for a few days. He says the pain of Chicken pox was horrible. Sooooo yeah, lets hope you never get it. (the thing with his toe was partly mind over matter, he says it didn't hurt at all until he noticed it. It did start hurting afterwards but he still had to make a conscious effort to baby it while it healed)
