I have a problem with this technique tearing my tube bodies. I use the BPS Tender Tubes which are heavily salted and very soft. Love the idea of being weedless but just lose too many tubes, just as many as getting hung with an exposed hook.
I use Strike King and Dry Creek tubes. 1/8 ounce are way easier to rig than 1/4 ounce. I also use a lot of scent to make it easier to slip in. Owner makes a great hook too that will go in easier called the Phantom Tube Hook.

I put Bait Fuel on a cotton ball, then tear off a piece and stuff it in my Tubes, followed by my jig head, it works awesome.

Cut a slit in the back of the tube for the hook and just push the lead head forward until it has no further to go.
