I read The Man Who Died Twice a couple weeks ago. I'm fully obsessed with the series, love all the characters & there's always some bit of revenge in the books I find really satisfying.
They do love a lil taste of revenge, don't they?!
I read in the dream house last year and it was a powerful read for sure. And it was chilling to see the mind manipulations and the level of psychological abuse... and I also felt like it did such a good job of talking about the importance of raising awareness not just for queer abuse but for space in the law where the abuse isn't physical either. I'm sorry you faced that kind of abuse as well :(
Yes to all of that! I still see people scoffing at emotional abuse and diminishing it to “just seems like an incompatible relationship” when it’s clearly mental & emotional abuse. The manipulation is what people severely underestimate & can’t seem to understand.
Thank you! 💜🩷
Thanks for sharing about your experience with In the Dreamhouse, I am so glad it was such a powerful and somewhat cathartic read for you 🤍Glad you are in a better place now!!
Also, I have been meaning to read the Thursday Murder Club series for soooo long, it sounds like a hoot!
It really is a friggen hoot!!!
Thank youuuu 🩷

In The Dream House has been on my tbr for a while, but I'm not sure when I'll read it, same with The Thursday Murder Club books. and have you watched the Ryan Gosling Papyrus short on SNL? it's obviously not related to the book, but it's entertaining.
I have not seen it... !
I got Papyrus last month, and now I'm scared of reading it 🤣
haha I'm sure it wouldn't have taken me that long if I had been reading it physically, or if I was someone who listened to audiobooks more regularly!
Not the 400 page book nonfiction taking like 3 months hahahaha hey at least you finished it
@@RodgersReads 🤣 I was struggling
🤣🤣🤣 Yea, that character SUCKS!!! Prophecy is ALL about their relationship and I hated it. He’s a frat boy. If I didn’t have nostalgic rose-tinted glasses for the first book I probably would’ve never continued on with the series. But, there is a very interesting twist that is revealed about their relationship at the end of book 3 that made me want to continue on with the series. But it’s a ‘effin’ commitment
Haha yeah I just couldn’t push through past his weird ass 🤣
What you're describing is what I grew up with. The gaslighting makes you feel like something is wrong with you. And to this day I question myself.. Is it just me overreacting, or is what this person doing not ok?
I can see why that would be hard to read about.
I'm so sorry you had to have that experience like that -- for so long?! Ugh. I can only imagine the way that it still must affect you. ❤
