Small nerdy correction about the RAM lol - both consoles have 512MB of total RAM - however in the PS3, it's set up as 256MB for the system, and 256MB for the GPU. The 360 has 512MB spread across both, and developers could allocate it however they wanted, resulting often in higher res textures on Xbox. Awesome video by the way! Earned a sub.

Thank you appreciate it! Yeah that’s true, should’ve mentioned DRAM instead of just RAM. But I did say 256MB of RAM and half the VRAM as the Xbox 360. 512MB/2=256MB and 256+256=512MB of total RAM in the PS3. I think I just was a bit unclear, sorry about that!

I have both the ps3 and 360. I played and owned a ps3 first and bought a 360 because more of my friends had them. I have noticed that the 360 usually has the edge in terms of graphics/performance.
The ps3 has aged fairly well, not too many hardware issues and the xmb still looks good, the bluray drive also helps keep it relevant in this day and age.
To be honest the 360's hardware issues are really irritating, rrod, disc drives etc. However if you find a 360 that has been looked after and is a certain motherboard revision (jasper motherboard) you're good to go, thay are practically immune to rrod, more so that the slim and e models, I've had an e model red light.
In my opinion it all boils down to which appeals to you more.
Ps3 - pros: Blu-ray, solid game library/exclusives, typically more reliable, free online play, easy to mod/jailbreak.
Ps3 cons: store is buggy and outdated, in my experience they crash more, games typically don't run as smooth.
Xbox 360 pros: great games and exclusives, you don't have to install disc games to the hdd, removable/transferable hard drive (no formatting, so if your 360 dies you can just wack your hard drive into different console and job done), online store works really good still.
Xbox 360 cons: you have to pay to play online, more common hardware issues, no bluray, early models have no hdmi and are doomed to fail.

(7:47) Also just a few weeks ago, quite a few popular titles got delisted from the store including many Assassin’s Creed games as well as The Witcher 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and many other games, so I wouldn't be surprised if the store gets shutdown in a year or two. :P

Had a 360 S with RGH back in the day, worked seamlessly. And for the store, it will at least be up for about 1,5 years, so it's still plenty of time. Though, I don't know why anyone would buy games on the store except for the ones that you can't find a physical copy of. The disc versions are tend to be cheaper.

I do see them in yard sales and swamp meets and pick them up for $5 to $10 each console. High chance of getting the Red Ring for the Xbox 360 or the YLOD for the PS3. They both could be fix.

      @@TripleEightss - 360 also still online
      - The Xbox 360 store servers are shutting down this year in July. Rumors are that everything else is next on the list.
      - halo series and ninja gaiden black + ninja gaiden 2 (original xbox 360 version) better than all of playstation exclusives combined
      - Not true. They both had great exclusives during this era, but I prefer Playstation more.
      - only the launch ps3 is backwards compatible with ps2 while any xbox 360 is backwards compatible with any xbox game
      - Later models are backwards compatible too via official the software emulator that can be unlocked by using custom firmware. In addition, the PS3 hardware is far superior to the 360 albeit more complex. PS3 had everything from wifi, bluetooth, bluray and even its entire power supply built right into the console. Not so on the 360 which still needed an additional addon to compete (like how the 360 controller needed batteries). On the 360 the power brick alone was huge and the size of a real brick and even had its own fan.
      - 360 arguably has better customization, especially right now with all the free stuff in the marketplace
      - Nope, just look at how the ps3 did live video backgrounds pretty much from the start. In addition, PS3 launched with "other OS" allowing you to install Ubuntu Linux onto it which in turn made it a full blown PC and gaming console combined into a single box. This feature was later removed by Sony but you can still install Linux on it.
      - 360 has avatars while ps3 doesnt
      - I don't care much for avatars. Those days have long passed.
      - with an adapter you can plug in headphones to the 360 controller and listen to your game quietly
      - Fair point, 360 had better voice chat options. I agree.
      - anything is fast with an ssd
      - Not anything, but a lot of things. Whatever the case, the PS3's hard drive can be swapped within a few seconds as it officially supports this - the 360 does not.
      - xbox one slim and elite have built in wifi as well
      - Only later models got that upgrade whereas the first batch of consoles did not ship with this feature, making it the inferior product in terms of overall out-of-the-box features. Add to that the tremendous rrod failure rate that far eclipsed and surpassed anything that Playstation and Nintendo was dealing with back then = not so good. Not a quality product.
      - the common consensus is that the 360 controller is one of the best controllers of all time and superior to the ps3 controller
      - Not in my book. I prefer the PS3 controller in every way, including the fact that I didn't have to manually change its batteries like a kids toy. PS3 controller feels more premium and I prefer its patented button and joystick layout too.
      - xbox 360 was and always will be better than ps3. yall had the ps2 and now the ps5. the 360 will forever be a microsoft w.
      - Not in my book. In the end, the PS3 actually surpassed the 360 in overall wordwide sales. In addition, the PS3 will most likely outlive the 360 in terms of all things online and multimedia too (PS3 is still getting Bluray updates to this day). To me both are good consoles, but I very much prefer the PS3 for a number of reasons. Microsoft is not known for quality products, see Windows and DirectX. Microsoft is not Apple. Sony and Nintendo, on the other hand, come very close to Apple's premium quality in terms of hard- and software and neither of them use Windows in the background either.

About the PS3, it also depends if you wanna be able to play PS2 games on it natively or not. If so, you should opt for a CECHA/B/E or C model but maintenance on those is pretty rough as they’re running fairly hot after all those years and the failure rate of them is pretty high. Mine has recently died a GLOD death. Apart from that, they’re also the most expensive ones due to their backwards-compatibility. However, if you just wanna have a reliable and cool running system without the need for a custom firmware, choose a CECH-3000 series PS3 Slim, as they run absolutely great and cool, even with standard fan speeds compared to anything prior.

I have a PS3 and a PS5 for all my PlayStation games from PS1 up to PS5 with just 2 consoles. It couldn’t be any better. And my PS3 just cost me 40 bucks from a private seller in my local area.

Not many people can do this. And not many have money to pay a professional to do this.

    @TheoDJ23 Před rokem +17

Giving that the homebrew scene for the PS 3 is very active and constantly evolving makes this a very easy pick. As a owner of different PS3 models, I can say that the best overall console to get is the slim, due to the moding capabilities and the build quality. Just watch out for the last slims produced before the super slim. They accept HEN only, just like the super slim. From a design perspective, the fat is the best, but when it comes to reliability, the fat is the last one to get in my opinion. Just something I picked along after years of moding and refurbishing PS 3 s. The super slim is also a great console. With little maintainance it runs relatively cool, silent and putting away the external build quality, the inside is very well built. Only downside, it can only accept HEN as a custome firmware, wich I don't see as such a great problem as others do. My conclusion, if you don't want to open and fiddle around with your PS 3 and skip all the headaches, stay away from the fat.

Some versions doesn't support HDMI. On your other comment you said that you're still rocking your Xbox 360 Elite and PS3 Slim and they have an HDMI output. Try checking your settings for each console and screen because when I first got my 360 it was set to 480p, which I could change to 1080p. Otherwise you can try to upscale it you want but I shouldn't be necessary I believe.

I've never owned any of the PlayStation consoles. I've realized just how much I miss playing The Sims 3 and other old games on my Xbox 360 rather than the newer games available on the newer consoles. I decided that I'll buy either Xbox 360 or PS3 one day so I can play my old games again, but I can't decide which one to buy. Which one should I buy and why?

I think the 360 is easily the better buy, especially now. A lot of the best exclusives from the PS3 have remasters and remakes on the new consoles, or will since Sony seems to love doing that, so unless you want to play the original games for some reason you’ll mostly be playing multiplats, which all ran better on the 360, and some being nearly unplayable like Bethesda games (except for Oblivion). Xbox 360 also has an upscaling chip up to 1080p which makes titles look a bit better on 1080 and 4k displays whereas with PS3 you’re stuck with the native 540p - 720p resolutions. Its also a lot easier to find good condition 360 controllers whereas genuine PS3 controllers are harder to come by with the amount of fakes. PS3 has a few pros over the 360 like Blu-Ray so large games will only need one disc and no power brick, and it’s also region free so you can use discs from any country, and of course free online but you wouldn’t really be playing online seriously on these consoles anyway so it doesn’t matter too much.

    • @dominikcz198
      @dominikcz198 Před 11 měsíci

I think that when some games have their online servers shut down, the needing to pay for online is not that big of an issue. Even if some game has online servers, I don't mind paying for it, because Xbox 360 has stronger hardware which means better performance and graphics. I own both consoles, but for me, Xbox 360 is the better option.

I find both consoles very appealing. both have their individual strengths and weaknesses. Apart from the fact that the PS3 initially had massive difficulties with programming due to the cell chip, it later showed top titles. Of course, the developer kits were usually only available for larger developers, which meant that they could get more out of the hardware. The Xbox 360, on the other hand, was the dominant console from the start because it performed better, especially when it came to multiplatform implementations. Back then I was only an Xbox gamer and the PS3 passed me by. Years later I got the slim one that I currently use. I'm catching up on what I missed back then. Just the Uncharted series or Killzone trilogy. These are top games. MGS 4, Last of Us are absolute top sellers. The same on the xbox 360 with the gears of war series or halo. Today I'm playing the old 360 titles on the Xbox Series S and they're great fun again. Ultimately it's a matter of taste, but I personally think the Sony and Xbox games are great and are usually more fun than today's ones.

I never had issues with the Elite except like 4 years later the tray wouldn't open due to most likely debris inside until I trade it in with the release of Halo 4 slim console edition 320GB storage which I still own it as of 2023 without any issues whatsoever. I have both. Bought one of each this year. Even though I have a one x and ps4 pro hooked up to my 55inch Qled in my bed room.
The ps3 is better value for money because of the exclusives you can play on it and the Blu-ray player.
I have both of the 2 connected to my 24 inch PlayStation simulview monitor I have on a table in my lounge near my kitchen area. I got them because they were cheap. Both were around £40. Got the 360s Earlier this month and the ps3 around July.
I wanted to watch my Blu-ray movie collection in my lounge after my older ps3 consoles that are hooked up to my wall mounted 40 inch TV, Blu-ray players stopped working and I thought I’d try out the 3rd party games from that generation that I either never played or missed playing, but for my Xbox 360s and to test out the OG Xbox backward compatibility.
My ps3 is only a 40gb model so I can’t fit all of the big game installs after all the latest firmware updates so games like GTA episodes from Liberty city and fight night champion were bought for the 360s because there aren’t mandatory game installs and I got the Xbox for the few Xbox exclusives I missed out when 360 was current gen like Alan Wake, the dlcs from the main game and the arcade stand alone game American nightmare, left 4 dead, gears of war 1-3 and dead rising 1,2 and case zero. I play fight night round 4 on the ps3 and fight night champion on the 360s. I’ve had fun revisiting games like Uncharted 1-3, last of us, heavy rain, heavenly sword, resistance 2 and 3, Killzone 2 and 3, motor storm 1 and 2 on the ps3 and some of the latest blu ray movies which look amazing even on the PlayStation 24 inch simulview monitor.

Which can be divided in any shape or form as needed. So With that being said. When it comes to playing different titles. The Xbox 360 is far more versatile and can handle any game that the ps3 can and can handle many more games that the ps3 can not. The ps3 is limited due to this reason. In terms of collecting and playing games on to this day, I prefer the Xbox 360. I have both systems and lucky enough to have kept my Ps3 60 gb bc, but when it comes to solely replaying games I prefer my Xbox 360 slim 250gb because of the graphics and performance. Better graphics in terms of multi platform games of course, cos the exclusive ps3 games are made different. Also the the 360 has the games I actually replay like smackdown vs raw 07, burnout revenge and naruto broken bond. Not to say Ps3 sucks cos it don’t, 100% love my OG ps3 but the games I grew up playing on it like TLoU and Uncharted series have been ported and improved already. Only one game I’m waiting on is MGS4 to be ported or remake. Anyway, both consoles rock but to replay and even collect games on the Xbox 360 wins for me.

Could never get behind the ps3's xmb. Just never clicked, every time I use it, I immediately start thinking of what 360 game I'll be playing after this haha

Well if secondhand market values are anything to go by, on average PS3s are worth about twice as much as X360s; and then the PS2 game playing models are worth twice even that

The hardware don't matter unless it kept dying. Pretty much all Xbox games can be played on the new Xbox. PS3 exclusives are very few now, most of them are remastered on the PS4.

Yes as I said, I couldn't tell the difference in performance between the consoles. You're right about Xbox having ported over many games compared to PS. But there are still some hidden gems that I only find on older consoles, such as Skylanders and older Forza games for the Xbox.

The PS3 came out a year after the 360 and still managed to outsell it. Nuff said.

The wii came out even later and demolished both lmao.
They're both amazing consoles, for their exclusives and extras, collect both for the best time.

I have the black Xbox 360 elite since around 2008...still works well, and I still enjoy it once in a while. Never had a PS3, but I always thought the fat version looked good, though my brief experience with it was it got very hot very quickly

    • @Odeboo
      @Odeboo  Před 10 měsíci

I believe the amount of heat depends on the model of the Fat version as well as how much it’s been used. I recently completed the The Last Of Us story all in one go, it didn’t get as hot as I would have imagined and ran smoothly throughout the whole game.

@Odeboo Cool, man. I'm sure I'd find much to like with that fat model, particularly the backwards compatibility. I have a shitload of PS1 games, which I still use, on original console, connected to a 19 inch tube 😁

I would say 360 , but since u can play 360 games with backwards compatibility from the newer xbox with one x enchanted version or fps boost with series consoles I would say the ps3 backwards compatibility version is way better to have since is the only way to play this older ps games aside from emulation on pc.

I grew up on PlayStation had a PlayStation three, but going back I would pick the Xbox 360
    Xbox 360 E
And it’s mostly because I actually fever form over function. It still plays awesome Xbox 360 games and I don’t necessarily care for like all the features of a council. Anyway I just want to play games. And compared to the PlayStation 3, I think the Xbox 360 E looks the nicest in my opinion, although I think the PlayStation 3 looks better than most Xbox 360 models. But I do think the Xbox 360 E looks the nicest out of all of them and better than PlayStation 3.
Speaking function versus form I actually think the Xbox 360 controller is actually more functional because of the replaceable battery pack. It gives me more options to power the controller. I can use a cable to charge it. I can’t get a rechargeable battery pack or I can just use disposable AA batteries I can put it in a charging dock which is what I probably will do.
