My precious little baby has had a g-tube since he was 3 weeks old and he’s gonna be 2 next week!! Changing these was so unbelievably scary for me in the beginning but now I feel like a champ and it’s no big deal. If anyone’s reading this you will get the hang of it!!❤️
Thank youuu so much for this! My 6 week old daughter gets the g tube next week and the nurses will train me on how to care for it I was so nervous but now I feel relieved on how easy you make it look!!! Thank youuu again for posting this!
Thank you for this video. I was nervous changing my sons for the first time because it was hurting him but you showed me that it's supposed to hurt and I was able to get it done.
she is so brave. I went through this for 11 years and the best thing I can tell you is it does hurt and I don't know what you can do to make it not hurt but just hug them and tell your girl you love her. even after getting it removed I still feel the pain some days it is hard but then you realize you're a survivor you overcame this. if it helps you may want to get her something to watch or distract her from it so it isn't as bad.
You did an incredible job keeping her comfortable. I have a family member who just got a low profile tube with a non balloon bumper and the difference after years of a standard tube dangling from the belly is such a lifechanger. We have a pretty crappy GI but we only see him when the tube needs to be changed. Did your GI train you how to change the tube? And were you able to ask for that specific type of tube? Over the years we we found that our doctor had misled us numerous times and said we could not get a low profile tube and just had to use whatever the hospital has. I actually spoke directly with the hospital and requested this tube. Low and behild, he showed up for the procedure and she got the low profile tube. We are going to change doctors now
I have a J tube and it’s about to be switched from the dangler to the miniONE button. I’ve been so nervous, so I’m searching for information. At 34 years old, coming across this video of such a little babe handling this like a champ, I feel pretty silly for being afraid. I hope she’s doing alright!
@@sassyd8738 yes! I’ve had my miniONE for five months now and I absolutely love it. When I’m not hooked up, nobody can even tell it’s there unless I’m wearing a crop top! And I’m able to change it out for a new button by myself at home every 3 months, which is so convenient compared to making a 3-4 hour round trip drive to the surgeon’s office like I had to for the first one. Overall, I love it. Now that it’s been so long since surgery, my feeding tube just feels like part of my body that’s always been there and it’s improved my life so much that I’d never give it up!!! I hope yours is treating you well, too!
Great video thank you. Surgeons are only human I know.but I feel you! The medical system in the US is based on money first patient last so they are working within that system...
Aww poor baby! My son has one and I've been trying to take his tube out for good instead of going to the hospital. He's perfectly fine and I regret having the doctors put an unnecessary tube in his body. I will try taking it out myself and letting it heal on its own. He's always been a little smaller than the average size child but he was much better off without the tube because he began relying on it and stopped eating actual food so I'm making the decision to remove it for good. I know what's best for my child and it seems that doctors don't realize that not every child is going to be the same, weight wise. Thank you so much for your video I will definitely be giving this a try ☺️
You'll do well to gradually reduce to zero the MLS given through the tube and monitoring weight for several weeks before you remove it for good It will heal up rapidly and if he's losing weight without it heay end up.having another surgery
Ugh I'm sorry Janelle! I share many of the same sentiments. However, in my case I know that Lilah's gtube has also saved her. I wish I had of held off with the NG longer (she got it when she was 6 months old) and I wonder id she would have gotten better at eating orally and then we could have avoided the Gtube. I do agree with Dana, I would just leave it in and stop using it for at least a few months to make sure he doesn't loose weight. Once you take it out and it heals (which only takes a few days) then he would have to have surgery to put it back in. Listen to your mama gut always, but now that he has been dependent on enternal feeding, also be careful, because his oral intake might not be enough to support him at this time. Good luck mama! I feel for you!
My son's tube sticks out more then thickness of a dime and it doesn't leak. I use a few drops of tea tree mixed in 1 Oz of witch hazel to clean his site twice a day and then I use a thin layer of Desitin rash cream the purple tube. I then loosely put a sterile bandage that's not taped to the skin. Only taped on the underside of the bandage to keep closed. His g tube site Is perfect with granulation tissue. Another mother shared this. Before I did this he had granulation tissue and redness. I wish I could use those cotton g tube rounds. He didn't do good with them. Don't know why. I cleaned them real well . Your little one is sweet. God bless her.
That’s so awesome! Lilah’s Pediatrician thinks that because the surgeon didn’t do a good job, and it never really healed properly, that her stoma will just always break down and so we will always have leaking. I use the gauze pads with the tape just on the pad too but I’m going to try the tea tree and witch hazel! Thanks for the recommendation!
I had a g tube peg in my stomach and I had to get it change a long time ago and I had my tube out and now I'm not having it anymore but it did feel weird when the doctor took the tube out and I was nervous and uncomfortable but now I'm free without it in my stomach
Don't cry baby you not alone so many people ha e to do the same so do it one thing I didn't know is if you can't get the balloon to go down and your doc have to take it out hurts like heck like pulling it out as myfriend say like a baby everytime this lil one cries think of all the kids and adult uncomfortable with the pull out and put back in and sore tu.my hugs you a be OK hun no cry ❤❤
The only thing I have a question about because I've seen it in multiple videos why arent gloves and more sterile conditions needed to replace the tube?
poor baby ☹️ mines going thru the same at age of 3 🥺 over my mom NOT feeding my son for 3 DAYS STARVING HIM‼️‼️ so he wouldn’t take any liquids anymore 💔😤
Does anybody know why does the g tube gets stuck? When I change it it’s hard to pull and it hurts my daughter she cry’s so much! And it’s been 2 times that it has happened I just don’t know what it could be 😔

Now how is this baby..and still she had a tibe on tommy?
The only thing I have a question about because I've seen it in multiple videos why arent gloves and more sterile conditions needed to replace the tube?
Stomach is not sterile. You do want to wash your hands before changing it and also keep things clean but you do not need gloves necessarily.

She has a gentic syndrome so it will probably be for life. Possibly until she is done growing but we just dont know.

We aren’t too sure. She has a genetic syndrome which will be with her forever, but she may be able to stop using her Gtube after she is done growing.

Try doing a little semi deflation and wiggle then reinflate a few times in the days before you actually remove it just to gently free up any adhesions
