Xiaomi Mi Vacuum Cleaner G9 G10 battery dissasembly red led accu broken. I don't know how to fix

  • Hi. I disassembled a working g9 battery that had batteries for 3 minutes. I exchanged for other used charged cells (tip - each weld can be removed by drilling it gently with a 1.5mm drill bit on each link 4 places per side). The vacuum cleaner worked for a week and then it does not want to charge and the red LED is on or blinking. It turned out that one cell died and had 0.3v I bought new SANYO 2300 mah cells, charged and replaced but nothing has changed. Still blood red. The charger is working. He writes, maybe it will come in handy. I hope that you will manage to figure it out because I'm not that good at electronics. Let me know if buying a new original battery helps if it is not a failure of the vacuum cleaner.
The Xiaomi G9 and g10 vacuum cleaners are compatible with the Dreame T10, T20 and T20Pro battery. I bought it and it works, so I recommend it.

I managed to fixed mine. It is similar to VC25 model. The processor has memory to stop charge once the battery fall below the charging voltage. Usually 1 of 6 is the culprit. What you need to try is desolder the batt from the board, charge individual batt to 4.2v then discharge to 2.7v via capacity tester. Roughly the battery shall be then at abt 3.5v idling. Solder it back the BMS board then charge it using original charger. It shall then works. Do note that u can use batt capacitor tester to test each cell and what u will find is that some cells usually have lower capacitors.

Have you used high-voltage batteries such as those for power tools? What cells did you use? I have one from a laptop and one from cordless screwdrivers.

@@CESHCESH i did not replaced my cell because one of the cell drop to 1v after leaving it for 3 months unused, and i managed to charge it up via external lithium charger. What i also learnt is that some BMS is dumb cause if one of the cell is full, then it will stop charging but does not means all the cells is full. But when come usage, if one of the cell hits the minimum voltage, the whole things stop. Hencewise, the replace the faulty battery with the equivalent capacity of what it is now. And when everything put together before charging, make sure they have roughly the same voltage, ie. 3.5v.

There are no hidden screws, I used a screwdriver to go from the side of the charging contacts and tighten. When removing the PCB, be careful because the temperature sensor soldered to the PCB is glued between the cells with white glue.

I have the same problem and we are not alone. According to a German forum the problem is a known Xiaomi problem with a wrong board design and a lot people got their money back from the shop in Germany.
I bought mine at eBay and because of the expected handling trouble I decided to fix it myself, maybe not the best idea...
Because of wrong balancing, at least one cell had a too low voltage. Normally not a big deal but unfortunately the battery electronics has also processor on it maybe to prevent somebody to repair it.... A manual balancing was not the final solution, but because of this chip it does not restart.
I am looking for a way to reset it, otherwise the only way is to remove all unnecessary electronics from the vacuum cleaner itself ... I hope somebody has an idea, because there are so many affected battery's....

I'm also working on it. It's impossible to power it with another battery or power the motor directly, because there is also a complicated control board and motor type. We would need the software to flash the controller again so it resets. But interestingly the poster of this video said the dreame battery also works, so maybe we can analyse this battery if it's possible to reset it after changing cells.

I will consider disassembling the Dreame Battery. I must admit that you made me think. I have not seen anyone on the internet selling a Dreame vacuum cleaner with a damaged battery. I have not seen damaged Dreame batteries either. It is possible that Dreame, which produces vacuum cleaners for Xiaomi, came up with it for money. But it doesn't change much, because even if the Dreame battery can be reset and the cells replaced, the owners of Xiaomi vacuum cleaners will have to spend € 100 on the Dreame battery. Maybe you can replace one pcb component with one from Dreame, but will it be a cheap and available part that does not require buying an old Dreame battery?

After I read that you used a dreame battery, I started searching for a broken one. I didn't find any, nor did I find a complete set with broken battery. For the xiaomi it took me three days to source two broken batteries. I only found a new dreame battery for around 100€, but I already spent some time and money for the broken xiaomi ones, so that is to expensive for me.
The manufacturer of the two batteries is a different one, I contacted both if they will give out the software for the controller, but of course I don't think they will.
As far as I understand the pcb design of the xiaomi battery, I don't think it is intentional that it doesn't balance, because why then use an ic especially designed for that job? My guess is they screwed something up with the programming, because I think the balance chip has to communicate with the main controller.
Maybe it won't help with the broken xiaomi ones, but if everyone just buys one dreame battery after the original one died, they would still be able to save a lot if its possible to rebuild them. Maybe they are a exact copy of the xiaomi battery, but with fixed code an this time working balancing, I don't know. I still find it interesting that the dreame battery works, because there seems to be some communication between battery and the motor control board, so I think it has to be matching to work. I will try to analyse the communication, but I didn't know if its possible.
My preferred option would be a new battery control board, so they won't earn anything as a result of their crappy design, and we could still use the otherwise great vacuum.

The sound is turned off because the radio in my blacksmith shop is constantly playing and there is a lot of noise.

If I buy this E Link programmer, I can easily read the firmware from a working battery and program 2 damaged ones that blink red?

Shock, broken Dreame T20 battery was on a standard vacuum cleaner charger for a week and after a week there is no red diode. Everything works. Did the original charger balance the cells for a week?
