    Steam finished on the 10th of June 1983, my brother and myself held the banner that 22 steamed through. The banner was designed by my father Graham Black, people might know him from Richmond Vale Railway at Kurri Kurri. He has also recorded the last two weeks of regular steam running. I also was a fireman at the museum having fired 24,25 and 30 plus Marjorie. Thanks for reminding us of the way it used be. 👍

    Thank you for the footage of 23, now I've seen the whole class operate on the SMR. My brother and myself held the banner with the help of other SMR driver's.

    SMR Loco No.24 as well as No.25 wound up with the Richmond Vale Railway Museum. But today they're both in a sad state of neglect.😒😒😒

    I was fortunate enough to score a cab ride from Pelton to East Greta in May 1981 (mate following/photographing in his campervan) - memorable. I revisited the former Caledonia station /signal box in 2011, Sadly, it was demolished with a big water filled hole full of rubbish.

    john, if i can ask you some questions relating to your knowledge of archive stuff, if someone wanted to build something, is it possible to find drawings of the vr steam locos anywhere? what would have happened to that stuff?

    • @johnphillips592
      @johnphillips592  Před 4 lety +1

      Most drawings are available from the Victorian Public Records office , look on line , they may have scanned them .

      @@johnphillips592 ,well i had some fun looking around. not much in the way of drawings on the site that i could find. probably snatched up by train lovers. the reason i asked is that i found out about someone having original drawings of h220.

    when was this railway closed because those hopper cars looks like they are from the 1980s.

      @johnphillips592  Před 4 lety +1

      It was shot in 1982 and as far as I know the line is still open but the last train of coal from Pelton ran a couple of months ago , steam haulage finished in the mid Eighties .
