Heart performing Cook with Fire, in the late 70's. With Ann Wilson, Nancy Wilson, Howard Leese, Roger Fisher, Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier. There is some nice backstage footage too.
Most powerful female singer on earth--Ann Wilson. No woman has performed as many live concerts as Ann Wilson has AND performed them so exceptionally well. The media promoted so many talentless hags over the last 25-30 years but none had the talent and stamina Ann Wilson had.
Damper: Well said! Ann Wilson had the most powerful versatile voice of any woman in rock history. Her stage presence was unequaled as well. It didn't hurt that she was smoking hot, especially here in this moment in time. None of these females in tbe industry could come close to Ann's vocals. The one possible exception would have been Pat Benetar in the the day! Pat was also one of my favorites....and HOT as well!
This is a band at the top of their game. Roger Fisher, Howard Leese, Derosier - just a magic time in this bands long career. Hard to top them at this stage. A stunning performance !
Been listening since 1975 ... why Ann and Nancy aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by now is a tragedy, especially when a good many acts who are cite them as influences. Ann's still got the best female rock voice without equal!
This is so bad ass if someone asked me what rock n roll is, this would be part of my definition. The energy is intoxicating. I love this song & they're damn sure cooking with fire. Girl is my favorite female vocalist good lord @ their magic
Couldn't have picked a better song to begin the Dog & Butterfly album with. I have loved this song since the first time I heard it and it still rocks all these years later.
I love this song!!!!! I'm playing this song in a Heart tribute band. Michael Derosier layed down some of the most awesome drum parts obviously influenced by John Bonham.
Jeff Porcaro Groove I love the guitars in this song.. It wasn't played much on the radio but I played it ALOT cause it's one of my favorites! It's so unique, energetic and edgy!
Ann never sounded better than this! And that's saying a lot! By the way, Ann and Nancy's memoirs are out and the book is amazingly good--you Heart fans will love it!
I always assumed that the version on Dog and Butterfly was doctored in the studio...but it sounds spot on here. But I suppose most of their songs were spot on live. A really good band. I also didn't know that Nancy played the harmonica part.
I totally agree!!!! Ann Wilson is a living legend. Her songs move me, touch my soul. I just formed a Heart tribute band called "HEART ALIVE". Heart is a band I'll always love!!!!
I've seen a few tracks from this show. Clearly someone owns the whole thing. Whoever that is, shame, shame, shame, for sitting on it. It should have had an official release long ago.
I've been a huge fan of Heart and have been following them since the begining(I'M IN MY 50'S) and I have to say they keep getting better and better..especially Ann...her voice is incredible and as much as I've always loved her, I prefer to listen to her from the 80's on..(except the live version of Down on me in 1980--fantastic).you can hear her voice just keeps getting better and better..she is one of a kind and I hope they keep making records because I'll keep buying them..We love you Ann and Nancy!
robert owen I like "both Anns," but prefer the original line-up of Fisher, Fossen, Leese, Derosier. Current back-up band can't hold a candle to these guys.
+ChartreuseKitty Agreed, but Craig Bartock did a nice job shredding tonight. I was impressed and that's not easy since I was a guitarists wife for a bit.
The *real* Heart sound. Still a great band (late 80s can be forgiven!), but legendary in the 70s, w/Fisher/Fossen/Derosier - noteworthy in their ability to take a simple riff, pound it to death, make it great. Its here! Combined w/High Time, their epitome...
One of my all-time fav Heart songs which was only played for one year during the Dog & Butterfly album tour. THIS was the first live performance of this song as the album had not yet been released. But they kicked major butt at the Cal Jam II in 1978!! This is the original Heart band at its finest!!!!!
c'mon.,.....i said c'mon c'mon ....then Roger & nancy come in... such a cool song, perfect opener, like a chant....they can really stretch this one out, do it anyway they want, experiment, exchange multiple leads, too great..Heart was exploding all over the stage and if you were lucky enough to catch them around this time, well it was a treat, i was blown away when i saw Nancy play the opening diddy to "crazy on you" i always thought it was one of the guys, hell she can hold her own..
I saw them in either 77 or 78, at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin, I was 13, best concert I have ever seen, amazing vocals and musicianship. The whole band was amazing.
This video is so sweet!!!! I love this song and love Ann,s vocals, she is truly amazing, she is my favorite female singer of all time. The drummer(Michael Derosier) totally rocks, he inspired me to play the drums back in the 70's!!!!
Yep People -there were two Fishers involved with Heart. Mike and Roger. Mike produced and was Ann's boyfriend, Roger was the lead guitar player and Nancy's beau. Look at the back of Dreamboat Annie, Little Queen, Magazine, and the Dog and Butterfly albums and you'll see both Fishers there.
This is from PIR (Portland International Raceway). Sat. September 2 1978. Opening acts were Randy Hansen, Little River Band and Bob Welch. Was there with about 25,000 others fans. GA ticket was $ 10.00 dollars! There is another video from this concert on CZcams. Straight On Live 1978. Pretty good deal for one of my first concerts.
I was at the first Portland Jam too! Just a kid of 13 with my older sister. My first rock concert. Thank you for reminding me of the ticket price. Those were the days alright. 🙂
I won't go see Heart until they bring back the best lineup they ever had... Roger Fisher and Derosier. What a band... every band they've had since simply pales from a musician's standpoint. I want to see a band that does stuff that I can barely comprehend, not a good cover band.
It doesn’t get any better than this!!! Ann is still the Best Female Rock Vocalist. I wish this Version of Heart never broke up. Pure Magic and Pure Rock!! I can’t get over the fact Dog and Butterfly is 42 Years old!! I can still remember going to see this Tour!!
I saw this band twice in the late '70s. The 1st time at Cal Jam 2 in Ontario, CA March 18th 1978. The line-up at that concert kicked ass but Heart w/this line-up stood out! The 2nd & last time I saw Heart was at the Inglewood Forum (where the Lakers used to play)w/the band "Player" as the opening act. R.Fisher was a mad man on guitar doing sommersaults as he was playin'. The "Dog & Butterfly" tour was awesome!!! This is probably my single favorite tune from these guys & gals. The R&R HOF sux
Hey Drummer...I got to see Heart once back in 81 or 82 Great concert...... They are two very special real woman......they are close sisters and are good people...and they rock and love rock and it shows....I just love em and always will!!!!
Ohhh God Anns voice is the better voice far and away!!!! Not that Nancy doesnt sound good she does. But you cant compare at all!!! I love them both...have since "76". I cant stop watchin this vid !!! and the other Heart vids...Brings me back to when I was a young 15 year old dude rockin out to Heart and Just diggin em !!! Yes they were VERY SEXY and they still are !!! Look at how talented they were (still are) Rock on Ann and Nancy... Much Love,Thanks,Honor and Respect to you !!!!

I see your Ann Wilson and I raise you Chrissie Hynde!
Nobody could ever "bring it" like she did night after night. True professional!

This tour was their best -- of the classic years, the hair metal years, and everything since. Nothing topped the Dog and Butterfly tour.
That last high note by Ann is absolutely spot on. She and Nancy had such perfect pitch. Truly gifted sisters.
Been listening since 1975 ... why Ann and Nancy aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by now is a tragedy, especially when a good many acts who are cite them as influences. Ann's still got the best female rock voice without equal!
She has the best rock voice male or female!
Best live band I'm world betseen 75. -79 Tiger left it was almost done
Most underrated band in the world. Fab voice and instruments. Roger was one of the great guitarists/showmen.
this is when rock bands could really play as a unit and when good rock and roll was really on the map! how I miss the solid rock of the seventies!!
This is so bad ass if someone asked me what rock n roll is, this would be part of my definition. The energy is intoxicating. I love this song & they're damn sure cooking with fire. Girl is my favorite female vocalist good lord @ their magic

luv the tribal/war beat
cadirector Right ??
well said heart definitely is a great band!! KICK IT OUT!!👍
The original lineup was stellar, but you're really only cheating yourself by not seeing Heart now. Ann and Nancy will really blow your mind live.
I love this song!!!!! I'm playing this song in a Heart tribute band. Michael Derosier layed down some of the most awesome drum parts obviously influenced by John Bonham.
manginifan Mike was so underrated!!
I've always said Mike was the closest thing to Bonham I'd ever seen, criminally underrated
My gods, this band was amazing at their original-lineup peak.
Hottest sisters...ever? This songs bangs so hard! Deroshire laid down some of the heaviest grooves with them Ludwigs.

Flawless performance from back in the day - all band members were running supercharged on all cylinders
They opened with Cook With Fire on the Dog and Butterfly Tour. 1st concert I saw, 12 years old, Alpine Valley Wisconsin, front row center!
Like the lLP 2 nd song high time
the absolute best vocalist that there ever was and will be...ann still sends shivers up and down my spine...wow
So many great parts in this video, one of my favorite parts is at 1:45 when Queen Ann commands "Open up them damn doors!" :D
I never knew what she said there! Thank you!
