Stay safe, Aulklanders! We just wrapped with our downpours here in California. We were already flooding with less rain (Central Valley), but would've been a fair size lake with 10 inches I bet!
Btw Don't Drive on flooded roads. We lost people here to that on New Year's.

Not entirely. There were weather warnings but it's not like you can judge exactly how bad it was going to be and how quickly it would become bad.. was walking around central Auckland at 3pm, just a bit of rain, didn't even take an umbrella.. by the time I left work at 5pm it was torrential rain and ankle deep water crossing roads.. it quickly escalated from there
We knew it would be pretty bad but it was worse than I think most people expected.
Poor Auckland airport, 'The Air NZ company' will now have to increase it's costs to cover loss of revenue/profits.
I think all them lounges spotted around both airports should b able to cover it
wow a multimillion dollar company doesn't have insurance
hopefully everything will pass soon 😥

The amount of idiots driving through flood waters, including buses, is astounding. Aucklanders obviously have never heard the saying "if its flooded, forget it".
