Cinematic drone dives 2km off Eiger summit into Grindelwald

- We chose the brightest sunny day to summit the Eiger and dive down the well-known ‘north face’ of the mountain located in the Berner Alps in Switzerland. The Eiger overlooks the Grindelwald which is also very famous among nature lovers and hikers for its nature, beauty and hiking trails. Behold the wonderful view below from above the summit of Eiger and welcome aboard as we freefall dive into the Grindelwald at deranged speeds. It surely feels like falling off the edge of the earth. I had to brace myself for the dive, the last 5 seconds at the summit were the most exhilarating as I battled the rush of adrenaline triggered by dive anxiety. Anticipating the dive from the dizzying height of about 2km from the summit into the valley makes even the most seasoned drone pilots tremble. 😊

Wow, it's amazing to film this distance and height in one take. It's amazing to go up to the top of the hill without interruption.

Might I ask, how do you achieve such high ranges ? the o3 cant be configured for more power output even with all channels open I cant reach more than 2 maybe a bit more kilometers distance. Is it only the antenna setting ? Any good tutorials ? thanks in advance for your reply ! :-)
Hi, thanks for your kind comment. If your getting only 2km, probably you have not done the FCC hack yet? If so, please check out "Mads Tech" tutorial on how to do so with the ham file. Hope this helps. Cheers.

I did the fcc hack, and everything I could find with google and forums... It seems there is no other possibility with the goggles 2 and O3 Air Unit.
I checked and all channels are open now, but I still can get MAX 2km maybe even less (unobstructed LOS).
Any help ? Could it be the std antenna ?
I already tried betaflight, but there seems to be NO possibility to change any settings from the vtx, neither in BF or in the Goggles 2.
I didnt expect my 4 inch drone to go 10km, but I at least hoped for 3-5km of range...
If you have ANY idea or suggestion I would be very happy, as I will buy another LR drone in 6-12 months, but it wont improve my capabilities if it is still so limited in range !?

How long was the flight (i am not sure if you sped up the video/how much). What battery are you using?
Geez, sorry for the late reply, man. I thought I had already replied. It was a Lipo 5200 mAh. We accelerated in post quite a bit on the way to and back. In total the flight took about 12-13 minutes.
@@Phoenix.- no worries, so do you prefer the lipo over li-ion ? I thought li-ion were more suited for long range. I just got a 8000 and 6000 lion battery pack for a 7.5 inch geprc quad. But I am thinking I may want to get a lipo too for some more punchy fun
@@Spacecazeka : It really depends! In my experience, both types of batteries can be used for LR. Li-ions are ideal for smooth cruising, where there is less room for error. However, for steep dives where you may find yourself in a position where you have to punch out, I would definitely always recommend going for a big LiPo. If you are going to get one, get a big one with a high C-rating (not under 60). For that you will get the punch out benefit and the range you are looking for. Cheers!
Great video!!! I just do camera drone but I am impressed but the range of you controller. I would say you were 6-7 km out with a some occasional obstructions at times!!

We are We are planning to fly the Nord, do you have a tip for a good position
You can either hike up for 3-4 hours or take an expensive train or gondola.
Once up there, choose your spot depending on your gear. You will see that Eiger is prominent enough that you can film it from different angles and spots. Hope this helps.
