It's beautiful around the Basingstoke Canal but it's changed a lot since I was last down there in 1988, when it was all mudded up and overgrown. It's certainly changed since those days in the late 80's, when water was hard to find.
It has had a lot of renovation over the years water levels are still pretty low though, a very pretty canal đ

Twigs is such a loving little girl, she does bring us a lot of joy bless her. We don't know where she gets all of her whiskers as both Mum and Dad were smooth haired so she must have a whisker throw back, we love her lady beard lol đ Have a lovely Easter đŁ x
I went to skoool in West Byfleet back in the 60âs we helped with the first dig/clear out on the stretch from the Wey Nav at new Haw to the first lock. Some of the âstuffâ that came out was interesting, someone said there was a temporary army camp there towards the end of ww2. At St Johnâs the canal is fed by a spring, the water is crystal clear..

@@WidebeamandWellingtons nope donât think you have any chance on that one without an extended stay wedged in. Iâm kinda booked out of Caen hill from the 1st May for a 4 month jolly up to Lechlade then down to the Wey Nav, my mission to have a pint on the boat at the Anchor pub at Pyrford where I had my first pint when I was about 12 đ that stretch from Coxâs lock to Pyrford has a lot of memories. Then down onto the tidal Thames and a bit of the river Lee and back to Caen hill. However the state of the rivers at the moment it might be a June kick off.
