- Here we go again, work. Yes, you, me, your Mom, we all have to work for a living, period. Even if you're retired, you have to find something to do and make you feel either entertained or productive in some way, shape, and/or form. It's just life. We are people. That's just the way it is.
In any event, I have to do what I have to do on my level of the human capital accumulation phase. Whatever the hell this is, I'm trying to make the best of it. There are many things that I don't know nor do I even care about knowing, thus causing me display symptoms of "Peter Pan Syndrome". In many ways, I am just another man child. By now, I should have a wife and children. I'm approaching 40 and death is starring right at me. At the end of the day, what I do know is that I can take care of myself. If I popped out a few kids here and there and was forced to be a father like some kind of Tyrone, divine intervention would have to take place. I mean, I could barely even take care of myself, let alone another human being.
I'm here to just keep things real. Things are expensive as all Hell these days. It is not my job to keep up with the Jone's next door. Do I want to improve? Sure, I do; but at the same time, I know it's not just about accumulating shiny things and fancy crap to impress other people I don't even like. Nor should anyone else be doing the same for someone like me. I don't really care nor should you. People want leaders, a good one at that. Being a man child isn't helping anyone; it's just escapism. Playing video games and watching Cornhub isn't doing anything for anyone. It's another daydream. There are even worse things like drugs, alcohol, and participating in risky behavior. In a world full of inner demons, vices, and addictions, I pray to find salvation, to find a life of peace, to be whole with God, to be that person people look up to.
No, no one wants to be a man child. No, no one wants to be just another Peter Pan. But guess what fate has in store for you!?

My mum and her friend who went to university in New Zealand in the 60s when it was heavily subsidized, were talking once about how weird it was that young ppl go nowadays to get a qualification for a job...instead of just the joy of learning like they did
The 60s were when progressive credentialism really got started in the US...prolly because of Johnson's federal grant/loan program. Before the 70s, you could essentially do almost any job without a degree. The higher level jobs you could get merely through apprenticeships and testing.

I'm 45 and I suffer from Peter Pan syndrome. Not a good place to be but somehow there doesn't seem to be much of an alternative from my perspective.

Sorry for your loss. Nothing is a sure thing in life - women, careers, etc. Everything comes to an end - careers, marriages, etc. I live in S Jersey and got laid-off from PSE&G after 15 yrs. Live is like a video game - try to avoid the bad things and take in the good things.

Sad to hear about your brothers wife. I’m experiencing Petter Pan syndrome haha, almost 40, no partner and no kids. 100k yr and own condo. I traveled across the US last week just to ride roller coasters and see my favorite djs. I believe that having kids was a cookie cutter life and it’s good that more are deciding not to force that life when deep down they are not for it. I believe we still can focus on getting a girlfriend, we just need to bring back masculinity and focus on our own development. 100% focus should be on the relationship and every date should be just like the first date in terms of effort because if the hamster stops running on the wheel then the fun stops. My 2 cents 😊

You are right about many things, but you need purpose,... don't focus too much on women and sex etc. Find Jesus, know the Bible and you will understand why all the mayhem is happening around us as we speak.
