    It is the ghost of her dad, they show it at the end to reinforce it when she literally talks to it and calls it father. It isn't a metaphor for the river styx, there are literal dead bodies floating in the water she's sailing from the battle. That is the battlefield where her father was killed because she left him to die by the Orcs hand. Also heavily referenced in the song.

    • @AnonymousMoon1
      @AnonymousMoon1 Před 5 lety +25

      While I'll agree that it's not a metaphor, it's definitely an allusion/reference to the river Styx, considering the imagery and symbolism throughout the video

    • @drudle
      @drudle Před 4 lety +17

      I would actually go further to say a lot of this IS metaphorical. The idea to me that over a decade after the war there's still corpses floating around? And that the ships are visible would mean either a) they're close to shore or, b) they're intact enough to float. I don't see either of these really up to snuff.
      I simply see this as Jaina paying her namesake and title as Kul Tiran to her father (whom she imagines "Death" to be) in order to sail through the memories of her betrayal in order to seek penitence for her actions. At the end of her journey she raises her father's ship, the symbol of her father in this case, showing atonement and understanding of his beliefs.
      IMHO, girl sailed from Theramore out to where the battle was and raised his ship. No wreckage, no bodies, just ocean and her thoughts.

      @AnonymousMoon1 Před 4 lety +2

    • @drudle
      @drudle Před 4 lety +12

      @@AnonymousMoon1 metaphor: "a thing regarded as representative or symbolic of something else, especially something abstract."
      Example the dictionary provides: "the amounts of money being lost by the company were enough to make it a metaphor for an industry that was teetering"
      When discussing the ghost of her father as representative to the concept of death for her? I would call that metaphorical. To her, his ghost represents death, in many ways: of ties to her home, of ties to her family, and to her innocence in some ways.
      The same as to the wreckage she has to cross, the corpses in the sea, the faces in the sky who look down on her .. a lot here are representatives of abstract concepts. Even her raising the ship is metaphorical; the rebirth of her father's ideals and the reclaiming of her namesake.

    Actually the timeline she sings of Happens after Reign of Chaos in the Warcraft 3 campaign of the Orcs Foundation of Durotar where Jaina had to choose between her Father and Peace itself. She tried to persuade him but her old Father whom which had served the Alliance as Grand Admiral of the Grand Alliance in the Second War between the Alliance and Lordaeron, Elves, Dwarves vs the Horde still hold grudge of the atrocities which the orcs did never got rid of the scars of war so he fought them blinded by the old times of hatred. His last words to her were "Maybe in time, you will understand." And honestly. What is happening now is proving Daelin right. The reason Daelin was like he was, was that the horde killed his son, Tandred.. Jainas brother.... And Daelin watched Stormwind burn to ground the first time.. he's a veteran of the wars... believe me. Daelin has his reason to hate.. and now the horde is only proving him right. No matter how you look at it.
    Would you trust someone who did that to you? Fast forward all the events up until now. Legitemately. There is nothing you can compare or say to prove to me that her actions now aren't justified. Without being viewed as out of your bloody mind people.

    • @SirBuljo
      @SirBuljo Před 5 lety +22

      Actually it was the horde that did those things, the only thing that has changed is what the horde is. But the horde sprouted from those same roots that Daelin very much hates. And given how easily the horde follows ship with whom ever wants to comit world domination these days.... well i shouldn't have to explain what the implications of that is.
      This isn't about minorities and you're pointing out minorities at this point as being the image of the whole group. When they really, aren't. The majority is pretty much looking to screw things over. Following suit. No matter who gets thrown into the warchief seat. As i said previously. They're only proving Daelin right. When they are the invaders and do this. Hell i know about the tauren but cairne would roll in his fucking grave at what his people is doing these days.
      You call it a fucked up mentality but after all the events leading up to these days it's really not that fucked up. Also you mentioned Arthas as an example even though his self control was gone the moment he picked up that blade? Why? What purpose does the truth of that which, everyone in Azeroth knows about serve to use as a way to show that Arthas= Humans as a whole. When there is nothing human about it?

    If you never did the W3 bonus campaign:
    You play as Rexxar who wandering on his own with Nisha (this is when we meet Rexxar for the first time). He encounters an orc grunt who loses a battle and was set to deliver a message to Thrall regarding human aggression. This orc asks Rexxar to deliver the message to Thrall who is in the midst of building Orgrimmar using Gazlowe as his chief foreman. From here you're set about to do various quests and things (which was essential a top-down preview of wow) alongside Rokhan who is also just introduced here.
    At this point in time the Orcs and Humans on Kalimdor are actually at peace along with the Night Elves as they've all just worked together to stop Archimode from destroying the World Tree and Azeroth.
    This video is made even better by the fact that its a one-sided and, to be honest, wrong telling of the events by Kul'Tiran humans; led by Admiral Proudmoore (Jaina's Father). In this scenario the humans were the aggressors... They followed the Orcs to Kalimdor to fight the horde and Jaina stood aside because her father was wrong to attack the Horde. The Horde were defending their new home against aggressors ignorant to what had happened at the top of Hyjal. And still they sing this song completely ignorant and blaming Jaina for taking the high road and doing what was right at the time.
    Garrosh is to blame for all of what's happening now.

      Daelen came over to Kalimdor and as Lord Admiral took charge of Theramore. Observing the horde he decides it’s time to eradicate that so called “threat” that fled across the ocean to safety, trying their best to secure a living for children, elderly and people of the horde after escaping slave camps mind you. So Daelen decides to just be done with it and kill them all. Jaina can’t watch her father chase freed slaves across the ocean to eradicate them once and for all so when thrall, rexxar and co. come knocking she stands aside as the Horde ends that deranged mans life. This song is the changes version of a child’s song that was sung when jaina was young. You can listen to it in a cut scene from the new BFA expansion. This updated version is that entire story but from the viewpoint of Kul Tiras. A story of how their brave lord admiral went to save his daughter who then got murdered by the same monsters that had already taken so many lives. It’s a contrast, showing how reality is relative for everyone. All these years Jaina was haunted by the song her own people made about her, but at the end of the Video we see a change in Jaina when she accepts being the daughter of the see showing determination and signaling her days of passiveness coming to an end.
      Queue her entrance in the siege of Lordaeron standing up to the Warchief of the horde.

      @@exrk1647 Well that isn't biased at all, is it. So here's Daelin's perspective. He's a war hero from the second war. Ever since the orcs came to Azeroth in the first war and through the second, they were practically demons, savages massacring and pillaging everyone and everything, without mercy. Actual monsters. Daelin bore witness to that over and over again. The reason he won't negotiate with the horde is because he does not believe them to be anything except the monsters from back then, regardless of them being former slaves or whatever the fuck, and if you would remember that they were juiced up on fucking demon blood that was so addicting and empowering that the old orc warriors like Hellscream spoke of the thrill they experienced on the battlefield longingly, despite the fact that he was fully aware of how it made them slaves to the demons.

    4:44 And who are you, the proud lord said,
    that I must bow so low?
    Only a cat of a different coat,
    that’s all the truth I know.
    In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
    a lion still has claws,
    And mine are long and sharp, my lord,
    as long and sharp as yours.
    And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
    that lord of Castamere,
    But now the rains weep o’er his hall,
    with no one there to hear.
    Yes now the rains weep o’er his hall,
    and not a soul to hear.

  • @CynthiaHunterNightwillow

    I think she's been biding her time, letting everyone else take the hits and die to get rid of the burning legion..acting so pious...She wants revenge for losing Arthus..thats when her world fell apart and i think she's been waiting to destroy the Horde because we opened the dark portal and came to Azaroth and brought the taint of the burning legion with us..just a thought..I can still hear her voice saying "Arthus come back to me"..and she has the power to lift her fathers ship from the bottom of the sea but has always disappeared when it got tough?..she sacrificed everyone for revenge

    You also need to remember this is sung from the kul Tiran perspective, for them "The savage orc came" when in reality the Admiral was a huge dick who wanted to eradicate them from Durotar when rexxar and his team beat his ass Thrall then spares everyone else, and even Says to Jaina basicly "lets hope we can have peace now"
