I live, and breath Metal but DM is one of my all time Favorite bands. If you have not seen them Live its a Bucket List MUST. One of the Best Live shows ever. RIP Fletch!

Just saw them in Vancouver. Amazes me that I can say the best concert I've ever been to was for a group of 60 yr olds.

Amazing new track from a legendary band.
The chess game is an homage to the movie The Seventh Seal from 1957, where the lead character plays chess with Death who has come for his life. It’s been referenced many times over the decades including in the Bill and Ted movies.
Martin Gore doesn't get enough credit for his classic guitar riffs. This one is as good as any of their best.
Martin Gore is great man
He makes the most of simple, stand-alone riffs. Behind the Wheel is the first and classic example.

I am one of the greatest fans of DM. This song is now in their career. I have listened to them since their beginnings. I am a grandmother and my son and granddaughter love them too. How many groups have inspired generation after generation. Marty the lead guitar is a musical genius. All of the unique sound effects were created by him. DM is timeless. They are also on tour again. I won't be able to see them live again unfortunately. It was a religious experience when I did in the 80 s. Forever fan, Canadian Grandma Lori. C.

Over time, with the bashing in the 80's from rock purist fans against Electronic music for not consider it "real" music, I came to realize later in my life, that lots of hard rockers and heavy metal bands do look up to Depeche Mode and consider them a big musical influence in the music industry. They just dropped the second single My Cosmos Is Mine. It’s legit. It sounds like they’re back to their roots. If I might add it’s got a Nine Inch Nails style to the song. I love the band and can’t wait until I see them on tour.

In french, the depeche means the NEWS. Mode means Fashion. So depeche mode is fashion news. Depeche Mode is an old french fashion mag. Dave chooses this name as the mag was in front of him as a journalist asked him what the name of the band was. It happened before or after a concert in 1980 as the band had no name. The band decided to keep this name.

French Depeche - Dispatch , Mode - Method , Fast Method or Hurried Fashion
Depeche in French means news article (news dispatch); verb dépêcher - means to hurry up. But in this case, its the first meaning. It's "Fashion News". It was actually the name of a French fashion magazine.
