Philippines ship passes Chinese blockade to bring supplies to isolated vessel

  • (29 Mar 2014) A Philippine government ship slipped past a Chinese coast guard blockade on Saturday to deliver supplies to a marooned navy ship used by Filipino troops.
The navy ship is used to bolster the the Philippines' territorial claims in the disputed South China Sea.
The incident was witnessed by journalists who were invited by the Philippines military to accompany the resupply mission.
Around one hour away from Second Thomas Shoal, where the detachment is based, a Chinese coast guard ship marked "1141" twice crossed the bow of the smaller Philippine vessel in an attempt to stop it from proceeding.
    Another tailed the Filipino boat.
The Philippines has occupied the Second Thomas Shoal, where the ship is located, since 1999 but a Chinese warship and coast guard arrived and dropped anchor close by in May last year, sparking the current standoff.
The Filipino captain manoeuvred his vessel to shallow waters where the Chinese ships couldn't sail to reach the vessel, BRP Sierra Madre, which has become an awkward symbol of Philippine sovereignty in the remote offshore territory.
Saturday's re-supply effort came after Chinese vessels on March 9 blocked a previous effort to send supplies to the shoal, called Ayungin by the Philippines.
Philippine air force planes have airdropped life-saving food and water at least twice since then.
China claims almost the entire South China Sea but the Philippines has questioned China's claims before the International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea.
Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan also have claims over the territory, which is believe to be rich in oil and gas and is also a major shipping lane.

Seira Madre ship represent's philippine's activity back in historical claim and defense coast back then. This is the proof of Philippine claim of the islands near at Palawan
We should support the Philippine marines for their true intention if not local fishery and tourism will conquer Chinese military activity
We know that ship is an eye sore but the true intention represent historical value for the Philippines' claim

Do not rely on our corrupt and incompetent leaders to defend the sovereignty of our beloved motherland. Once again it is up to the Filipino people to defend the domain of our beloved motherland.

I would say, do not rely on your ignorance. You hate our government, but you don't know that if we don't have a government, we will end up like countries in the Middle East that have been in civil war for decades now. Your ignorance about governing a country is very deep.
