The S52 is a good enough engine and it can hold a lot of boost on the stock internals

@@Josh-qm4rb the 2j just needs valve springs and retainers to make 1000whp. The s52s weakness are the pistons (700wtq).

As well as a big turbo kit, lots of tuning done, head bolts, new oiling system and a new cooling system, as well as cams, pistons and rods and new bearings for it to be reliable. Though 1000hp on the stock 2JZ internals has been achieved, it's pretty much a death sentence.
I'm not saying that the S52 is stronger than the 2JZ, because it isn't, but it is a worthy contender. If you are shooting for 1000hp, you need to fully build the engine regardless, for the sake of not sending a con rod to the moon.
