As DevOps Center can installed in Production, Developer editions and scratch orgs. In that case all developer's user record should be create in production org for assigning workitem to them. That will kill user license in production. Is there any other way, we can plan or do this?
Developers need not have full Salesforce license to use DevOps Center. They can have 'Salesforce Limited Access - Free' license. Please refer to this page for details: help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.devops_center_add_team_members.htm&type=5
It's a stunning demo. Thank you for the clear and thorough walkthrough! I'm excited to use DevOps IRL!
Agree 100%
Thank you!
@@sfdcbytes Thank YOU!!!
Smooth demo. Liked the clarity, and pace.
Thanks Pradeep for Crystal Clear Demonstration
Thank you! To the point, concise introduction of implementation of DevOps Center divided into seperate sections for easy understanding.
The session is smooth and very clear. Thanks for your explanation on this!
This is such an awesome and thorough explanation and demo of the DevOps Center tool! Thank you so much
Thank you for your explanation. At first I wasn't sure if you would also show the environment for Developers working outside of the org but you surprised me with also showing that as well. Thank you so much for the demo, it helps a lot.
That was a great Introduction and demo, thank you!

Thank you Vamshi!
Thank you
Thank you thank you thank you!
Great video
Great Stuff
Nice Video
Nice video, But one question... If necessary do same update in code after merge in the UAT environment, where I do a rollback or create a new PR of branch??
Hi Pradeep,
Thanks for clear explanation of Devops center along with different examples. I have a question:
we have pending work items in UAT and tried to sync the dev org. I see an error saying "synchronisation failed". What is the approach in this case?
Thanks in advance!😊
Wonderful video, very clear explanation. One question: is there a way to delete/remove work items automatically, via for example a flow if a deployment fails or is cancelled? Records like sf_devops__Work_Item__c, sf_devops__Change_Submission__c, sf_devops__Remote_Change__c, sf_devops__Submit_Component__c - is it possible to delete them not manually?
Hi @sfdc-bytes, can you share why we need to have connected app ?
and are those details standard one means everyone can use same connected app details?
Thanks for this amazing session
Presentation is good but when we initially setup Prod,UAT,Partialcopy and Developer sandboxes in pipeline, Metadata was replicated in Github, seems we need to manually add there i think ?
Did you added the package.xml file in the project manually since the original project files which got created in github did not had that package.xml file
Excellent Video within 24 mins covered everything, I would like to know if there are any rollback approaches for now? Lets say i want to roll back my changes due to some errors this kind of scenarios
roll back is there on the future roadmap as per salesforce official communication. In the meanwhile if you want to rollback changes, create another workitem that removes the changes (destructive changes are supported) and deploy it.
from where and how did you create credentials for sandboxes(like for different environments)
What are the best practices for creating projects in DevOps center? Should there always be on project? I ask because the pipeline should be able to handle many projects.
Hi, At 5: 33 in this video, you we’re creating a repo under your username, how to change it to organisation
I tried to create a repo for organisation under sfdx structure, and I tried to select 2nd option as existing repo but when I use that repo it’s giving this error- the version control is not supported by DevOps center, please advice. How to proceed!!
Thank you
Hi, can we deploy sample from production to developer sandbox?
Nice tool, similar to the Copado. Do you know if it also possible here to automate post deployment and pre-deployment steps ?
As far as I kno, no automation of pd steps. Need to be done manually
Can we create folder structure in this devops center and create package with different folder, will it work?
Hi pradeep, am your new subscriber and presentation is excellent. Just wanted to check about code scan details and roll back options. It would be great if you share details about this. Thank you so much for your effort in making this videos
Thank you vijayakanth! Not sure about code scan if it is there on the future roadmap or not, but roll back is there on the future roadmap as per salesforce official communication. In the meanwhile if you want to rollback changes, create another workitem that removes the changes (destructive changes are supported) and deploy it.
@@sfdcbytes Thanks a lot for the response...
Why we choose 2nd option for lwc
We can also connect 2nd dev environment and after creating lwc we can pull our components 😩
I m confused with this can you please help me for this😢
Very good presentation. I have a question while setting up the enviroments, if we select Scratch Org will Devops center will automatically create new scratch org or it is up to the developer to first create a Scratch org using sfdx cli commands and then use those credentials to login ?
Scratch org need to be created separately. Devops center will not create scratch orgs.
Hello sir, but in my org while deploying when I get to add developing environment, it doesn' show the option o choose production Org & sandbox (or)scratch org. It straightly redirects me to login to sandbox. Please help me with this doubt....
Nice explanation! I have a question:
Let's suppose that I have a development in UAT/Staging in test with users but I wanna still be deploying other packages to production. How can I deploy the other packages and solve the conflicts with the package that is in hold in the middle of the pipeline using DevopsCenter?
you can create one more project with similar pipeline but without bundling stage. this pipeline can be used to promote individual work items without bundling.
@@swagattushar Thanks.
Can we do back promotion in Devops centre ?
Suppose something went wrong in prod 😢 and we need to promote previous changes how can we perform this😢
Excellent app but it gives an error: "Ending position out of bounds: -1" when I try to commit changes. Nobody can provide root cause or fix
I have a question. Can we use three developer orgs to connect to the pipeline? One as DEV1, Other one as UAT and last one as Prod (Release environment) ? . This is just to do some experiments instead of using my customers actual Salesforce orgs.
Yes you can do that
Great, quick question if deployment failed how we will track
If deployment fails, it throws an error in the same screen (Pipeline screen) along with error details.
We are trying to setup DevOps in the Salesforce Developer edition. Do we need to have Sandbox license in order to setup Dev environments. It doesn't allow to login when try to add the dev environment. Thanks!
Developer Edition doesn't support Sandboxes.
@@sfdcbytes Thank you for your reply! I am trying to setup DevOps in Developer Edition. So, can't we create Dev environment and complete setup of DevOps in Developer Edition since it is asking Sandbox authentication? Thanks!
So, I noticed that you can use the Work Item's Environment link as a developer working on an item to login. Whose login credentials are used for launching the org? I realize that you don't need this for the demo but I'm interested in knowing how the developers setup the environment + login using their credentials. Do we need to assign additional perm sets as a best practice?
The developer who would work on the work item in a sandbox environment would have their own login credentials to that org right.. so they would login with those credentials
@@sfdcbytes I mean the connection setup in the DevOps Center used an admin credentials. When launching the work item from there, whose credentials are used automatically? Maybe that's where I might need to experiment and learn. In your demo, the same user was used to setup and show development work.
Also, which environment is best to setup DevOps Center in? Prod or somewhere else? Definitely not a sandbox that ever needs to be refreshed.
Can you sync it to say ADO to import work items?
Not at the moment. Currently only GitHub integration is supported.
and scratch orgs acting as lower environments (I have created scratch org but still cannot see/find sandboxes in setup menu)
You will not need sandboxes as the scratch org itself is your sandbox. If you need more than one lower environments you can create as many scratch orgs as you want from your main developer edition org.
Thanks for the answer. One more question. Is there any posibility to have sandboxes for free (some TIAL licence/period counting) ?
@SFDC Bytes Can I sync the entire org into the new github repo through devops center?
Yes all components supported by metadata API will work with devops center.
@@sfdcbytes thank you. I meant instead of creating an empty branch, can we sync entire prod metadata when we set up DevOps center the first time? Because now it’s just empty.
Hi, pradeep,
can i get any training regarding salesforce devops
how to contact you
Hi, Can we setup DevOps center with only full sandbox and production in the pipeline - we work as small team, all the work we do is in full sandbox and we verify and deploy to production
Please advice!!
Thanks
Yes you can do that!
@@sfdcbytes thanks - so basically, we don’t have developer sandboxes - we are using only full sandbox and production!!
Uat > production
Configuration changes are all done in full sandbox and will deploy to production
@@sofierkl6737 it should work. Make sure source tracking is enabled in the sandbox
I want to learn Salesforce Devops release engineer
how do I sign up for free salesforce org with sandboxes to try this out?
You can use a developer edition org as production environment and scratch orgs acting as lower environments
can salesforce admin learn salesforce devops
How about validating? Before deployment
It wasn't there in the beta version so couldn't show in the demo. But now DevOps Center is GA. You can now do a validation (like check-only) deployment. Please check this link for details: help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.devops_center_deployment_validate_only.htm&type=5
Hi, from which org you created scratch org
Hi Pradeep, I can't see devops center in my org, what may be the issue I am not getting it I tried searching it but not getting a proper solution can you pls help me
Are you sure you are checking in production org and not in a sandbox?
In sandbox I was checking
@@harshithals3762 It cannot be installed in sandbox.
@@sfdcbytes Than we can only install in Production
@@harshithals3762 yes as mentioned at 0:44 it can be installed in Production, developer edition orgs, and scratch orgs.
Is this a paid AppExchange tool or a freeware by Salesforce?
It is free
I think this is same that was owned by Element cloud. Salesforce bought it now.
