    I appreciate the tip on a "baby" climber. Most videos show mature roses. This helps to begin the training of a new rose. Thanks. By the way, you are gorgeous!

      Awww.. Barbara, thank you for your kind comment. I was actually having a very stressful day & your compliment came at just the right time! Thank you for making my day great! I saw the first rose bud yesterday so I’ll post a short little update when it blooms. @@favoritehobbygardenerOKLAHOMA Well, I'm glad I watched your video. I'm a new rose gardener this year and I am obsessed. I have 41 roses so far with 9 more to come in September. It is turning out so beautiful. I probably have 8 climbers but all of my roses are first year. That's why I liked your video. It showed how to work with babies. I have watched tons of videos and belong to several rose growing facebook group so I am fairly aware of how to train climbers. But your video hit it for me. Good luck to you and I will subscribe so I can watch your progress. Thanks for your response.

    I search & searched & searched. Then I came across your video which was more of the information & image I was looking for before transplanting my donated rose bush. Your setup is beautiful. I love how it corners the side of your patio. It’s a nice protection screen. I had to pause this video & go outside to do the transplanting. I’ve completed it. Now I’m back to the video. Rain came before I did mine, but it started back up just before I could finish. I love gardening when it has rained cause it helps make digging better & pulling weeds up quicker; & it can get all of the rain water 💦 it needs to start developing faster & better; & setting it in good in the ground for its foundation.

    What is the wire panels you used? I have heard to use T posts and cow panels but I like the things you have the wire attached to at the bottom. I also like the fact that your wire panel is black. Cow panels are silver and I like yours much better!!!! If you can tell me where to get or what they are called???? (Things at bottom that hold the wire panel and what kind of black wire panel)

      Thank you cryptotami, It is castle panel. I painted it black. There is a video on my channel that shows you exactly how to make it. The stakes I used a the bottom to hold it in place were found in the hardware area at Lowes. I got the cattle panel at a tractor supply type store. Feel free to post pics of yours in our Facebook group: FAVORITE HOBBY GARNERS

    Thank you so much for explaining this so simply! Great video! So, with every new main cane, do you just keep tying them horizontally or at a 45 degree angle?

      Hi T Mc! Thank you for your comment. Yes, always keep main canes horizontal/45 degrees. I am editing a video right now, How To Keep Your Climbing Rose Blooming/ How To Deadhead. I think it will answer your question. Keep an eye out for it tonight. Im sorry for the delay. Its been raining & crazy windy here in Oklahoma. 😊

    Hi thanks for the video . If the main cane has bloom at the end of the cane . Do you deadhead or will they continue to grow even with the bloom at the end ?

    • @favoritehobbygardenerOKLAHOMA
      @favoritehobbygardenerOKLAHOMA  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi Gardenluv, I think Id let it bloom. The flower won't last long. Then cut that off after its spent.

    • @gardenluv9807
      @gardenluv9807 Před 10 měsíci

      So this will be cutting off the main cane was my concern ?

  • @neonice
    @neonice Před rokem

    What if the main cane gets too long and starts growing off the sides? Should I detach them and put them horizontally higher up (like an upside-down L)?

    • @favoritehobbygardenerOKLAHOMA
      @favoritehobbygardenerOKLAHOMA  Před rokem

      Great Questions Neonice. you can 'zig zag' the cane back & forth across your trellis if the cane is still plyable & can be bent w/o breaking it. Or you can simply cut it as it gets to the edge of the trellis. It depends on the look you're wanting.

    Hi, is there a certain variety of roses you’d use?

    • @favoritehobbygardenerOKLAHOMA
      @favoritehobbygardenerOKLAHOMA  Před 2 lety

      Hi Shelby, If you want your rose to climb something you'll want to use a climbing rose & it should say that on the tag/description. I chose the Don Juan Climbing Rose because it is supposed to be very fragrant (although Im not noticing much of a fragrance.). I also wanted the big red blossoms. There are many different beautiful climbers to choose from.
