  • Today's video is all about no booze drinks! And what better time to publish this than in the middle of Ramadan! Amiright or amiright? Seriously! If you're not drinking there's really no reason why you shouldn't be able to have a good drink too! Nothing is more frustrating than having people over (or being at the bar) and not being on the sauce and having to drink a soda. Thanks to the book in this video and some really talented bartenders, you don't have to settle anymore! Cheers and enjoy the episode!

    Salted Rosemary Syrup
MAKES ABOUT ½ CUP, ENOUGH FOR 8 DRINKS
    3 tablespoons sugar
    1 teaspoon Maldon sea salt
1 sprig of rosemary, cut crosswise into 3 pieces
In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, salt, rosemary, and 3 ounces water and warm over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature, then fine-strain and discard the solids. Store the syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

    Love the non-alcoholic video.
Tried them all...my favorite is "Don't Touch My Car Keys". (Needs a different name though. Maybe "Virgin Keys"?).
Had high hopes for the Salted Rosemary Paloma. Was too salty for my taste, and couldn't really get the rosemary unless there was a rosemary sprig garnish on the glass.
I think I'll experiment with a less salty (perhaps unsalted) version of the rosemary syrup in this and other drinks. The rosemary in the syrup is very nice.

Interesting mocktail, the first one. I will try making it.
I put a couple of dashes of Angostura Bitter in a glass of water and that made me feel a bit intoxicated. A little doesn't count, even for high-ABV. I guess that to many the point is not getting drunk so that they can drive in an hour or two.

So a “sprig” of rosemary will likely mean different amounts to different people. I like rosemary so my sprig might have been to big because I found it made a very strong, almost bitter simple syrup. This, unfortunately effected the taste of the Paloma as it was too herbal.

What's the difference between coconut syrup and cream of coconut?

    • @TheEducatedBarfly
      @TheEducatedBarfly  Před 3 lety

just different names. We're starting to refer to the sweet coconut cream as coconut syrup as not to confuse it with the non sweet coconut cream that is sometimes used in cooking

Thank you. Please do more no abv drinks? It drives me nuts that people don't want to use real bitters because the labels says 50ish% alcohol but they'll eat thing that have vanilla extract which is 60ish% alcohol. We give ice cream to kids why because even though it has the insanely high extract in it its still next to no alcohol due to delusion. Same thing happens in mocktails

I tried the change of address one, since it was the only one I had the ingredients for...It tastes, weird. Not bad, not good, just different. Not sure what it is. I can smell the maple syrup and lemon, but it tastes like coke with a different taste. It's really weird. Not bad, just weird.

US coke isn't the same as anywhere else as they're the only ones that use corn syrup instead of cane sugar.
