I just heard her talk with Triggonemetry. Amazing speaker and I'm so glad she's sharing her concerns with everyone. I will definitely be following her.
Francis and Konstantin brought me here too. That was such a good interview as was her argument here. Definitely going to buy her book.
@@mistergormsby Me as well. I'll have to buy her book. I very much enjoyed her conversation with the Trigg team. My only concern with Ms. Perry's observations is implementation. How does a supposedly free society control? stop? minimize? Contain pornography?
Correct statement
I always remember the quote from Peep Show which sums it up pretty well: ''Isn't it (porn) just the usual dead-eyed men f***ing dead-eyed women in a desperate world of pain? ''
This was amazing. I really appreciate people speaking against porn. It is a brutal thing. If I could go back in time then I'll stop myself from being exposed to these images. The damages it has done on me at times have felt unbearable. I feel pathetic that I saw all the things I saw and the things that I can't unsee and the impact it left on me. Anyone who is reading this and going through something similar I'll ask you to stay strong! Peace.
Ture. Before porn, a man would have seen max on or two women in his whole life, who most probably happens to be his wife or lover, even with wife there were certain limits. But now, young boys are exposed to thousands of beautifully presented women bodies and boys and men who are having no wife are going crazy in many ways and not sparing even little children. Exposure to women bodies, is biggest curse humanity is facing now and we should all fight against it.
Same. The addiction to porn in my teens and early 20’s still shapes me even though it’s been over a decade since looking at porn.
Its absolutely garbage its designed to keep young men from ever having an intimate relationship with a woman.
The saddest part is that the natural emotional discomfort about the immorality of it, the feeling that it's bad for you is being explained away by how you just aren't "liberated enough" yet... I've fallen into that trap because I grew up at the opposite side of the spectrum, where even a brief thought, natural desire was considered sth that would make me a bad person. It doesn't, policing thoughts and instincts is insanity, just as it i as to allow them to completely control us, make us slaves to them.
Another reason not to watch it is that innocence and the joy of discovering something beautiful for the first time is lost. You experience it on the screen than with someone you love, which is sad.
"Porn is to sex as McDonald's is to food." Oh boy.
Just imagine how many people live entirely off McD, KFC, Burger King and all the others, to not name Walmart and alike in the same sentence. That analogy is appalling to say the least. She has shown her true colors with that crappy contribution: a borderline inhumane elitist.
@@manfredschmalbach9023 she’s talking about the companies
@@LadyovVein So ...?
@@manfredschmalbach9023 How is she inhumane or an elitist? It's the new cultural elite that are pushing unlimited porn and she seemed way more concerned about the effects of Porn on humanity than those on the Pro side.
Only if all you eat is McDonalds every day. For the vast majority it's an occasional treat.
Such an excellent speech. So many people in my generation see watching porn as something inevitable, innocuous, or even liberating - but it's none of those things. Think of it like the tobacco industry - doesn't care at all about its consumers, just interested in the bottom line, but brilliant at persuading people of its right to exist. The sooner we wake up to the fact that it doesn't have to be like this, the better.
Tobacco is only part of the spectrum of possible industry comparisons. You could also take coffee or alcohol. Or sugar, jung food or social media. Video games, gambling or entertainment in general. Why single out pornography from the rest of the bunch of supernormal sitmuli?
If I could only tell all the youth to avoid PORN like the plague. It is a devastating thing, a cruel habit, ruined my life in many ways - just by watching it. It changes you on a deep level, your way of thinking, your self confidence, your self-confidence, your dignity, selfworth... How I wish I never started any of it. But its never to late to change, I still struggle for a better life
Hey man. Check out The Easy Peasy Way. It is 100% free, and helped me reclaim my freedom from porn. All I ask is that you spread the word about it when you finish.
Be brave, keep speaking about it.
Good for you George. You've discovered and confronted a human weakness that others will exploit to the ruin of all of us. I salute you sir. May you continue to pursue the spirit of love.
"Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing." One day I confessed to a friend that I was struggling. As he turned on his car to drive away this song was playing on the radio. Perfect. That simple phrase helped me. I didn't want a fake thing. I wanted love and mutual commitment and security and freedom. Do what you need to do to position yourself to be the guy a great woman will want to marry. Get the real thing. Despite what the various forms of media present, the people having the best sex and the most sex are not single but married. And thank you for your comment.
@Jessie weeizy A big one. Imagine standing before him on Judgment day, why you broke your wife's heart making her feel inadequate. Why? Be stronger. Stand up for what is right. God will judge unrepentant sinners one day, and they will miss out on what God has planned for us: A new Heaven and a New Earth where righteousness is to dwell. Living Forever. Who will miss out?
This day will come:
12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
Porn addicts will not be invited to eternal life. It's time to stop and time to stop NOW before it's too late.
'limbic capitalism', I like that.
I most definitely do not like limbic capitalism, but it is what we were served for over 40 years now solely and increasingly since Ronny the thief and Maggy the b*tch took over the west. Individual self-exploitation on OF being falsely called "liberation" is only one tiny façette of that limbic capitalism.
I think access to porn 24/7 , and the fact that children have access to it too has been very damaging. I think it desensitizes people to sex. it's unfortunate really.
children shouldnt have access to internet tbh. coz either internet is restricted in many ways and children are on, or in every corner you will see children accessing stuff and being damaged in one or another way. and im not even talking about porn. look at tiktok.. look at instagram.. look at cult sites... look at online gambling.. at this point 95% of internet damages children so i dont even know why we still allow them on the internet. its no brainer that its easier to ban access to internet for kids and fine parents that give that access ( same as we would fine parents who give access to alcohol) than change entire internet.
¿And why should we be sensitised to it? It is a biological function no different than using the lavatory.
@@-haclong2366 well, I'm desensitized to that too! 😀
@@-haclong2366 there's a difference between humans & other animals - is that we are social beings. We have the ability to emotionally connect during sex, so why destroy that ability?
@@diehardernxgt2161 Are we destroying it? Why not let people have their own agency upon consumption?
She knows her subject so well, porn is so destructive.
I don't think it should be banned completely, it ought to be difficult to get hold of, like it used to be until about 20 years ago.
@@ajs41 why not banned completely? Give me one good reason
@A B bro if that’s your idea of magical you really need to start exploring or something😂 that’s sad labelling something so evil as magical
So is alcohol, drugs, smoking, over-eating, lack of exercise etc. Porn is only destructive for those who let it destroy them. For most men it's an occasional pleasure. What's unhealthy about looking at women ? We know it's fantasy, just like the world of advertising and the entertainment industry.
@@PhilBaird1 …number 1: it’s an industry which profits from trafficking, rape, child exploitation.
Number 2: it’s literally porn which comes from the word porneia which literally means unlawful sex…hence why it’s messed up within itself.
Number 3: it glorifies one sided-pleasure, the idea that women like violence and that sex has to be violent when it’s not it’s a connection. (This is extremely damaging considering the average age a boy is exposed to it in the US is 11 years old). There are countless cases of YOUNG boys younger than 12 who have copied out what they’ve seen in those disgusting videos and raped even YOUNGER girls.
Number 4: glorifies cheating, incest, misogyny, racism, sexism, pedophilia (the most popular category is teen that says enough)
Number 5: its literally made to be addicted and some men have to go through literal therapy to help stop.why would you want to defend something like that?
Number 6: it makes men weak. It makes them give in to their flesh which means they’re a lot more likely to cheat in real life when they’re in a relationship and they’re addicted. Not to mention it’s the cause of 56% of divorce in the US.
The only people blind enough to defend it are people who have addictions themselves. Do your research, talk to some people who were once in the industry (I could give you a few) and you’ll see how horrific it really is.
It is literally a platform for violent nonces! Even Ted Bundy himself said ALL people he knows who have committed violence against women watch porn a lot.
There are NO benefits to society and I would NEVER be with a man who is watching “teen stepsis “ let alone have children with one🤢
Excellently articulated. I’m sure if given the time needed you could have been able to expand on the devastating effects on society, family sexual dysfunction, mental illness etc. thank you for bringing to light the things we want to turn a blind eye to
The worst is the negative effect it has had on the status of women and girls.
Yes I'm surprised Louise Perry focused on the brutality of the industry and did not say much (as she has elsewhere) about the deleterious effects of porn use on individuals, relationships, and society. She compares with McDonalds. But most people's primary concern about McDonalds is that it's an unhealthy fast cheap substiutute for real quality food, not empathy for the slaughtered cattle, or resentment of profits made? And clearly McDonalds is here to stay.
no it wasn't at all. she literally said "taking a woman at her word when she says yes it too easy" if a woman says yes to something it means yes. this insane feminist seems to think we need to second guess what she really means by yes and takes all accountability and responsibility away from the woman which is so fing typical. grow up girls and start taking accountability for your actions. it's well past time to.
@@reenamola2162 Girl stfu she did t say anything like that.
@@babygirla5717 ahhh another angry feminist going nowhere who cant handle the truth. how sad and pathetic.
Wow, let's hope Louise decides on a career in politics. She's smart, eloquent and courageous. Just the kind of person we need in politics but are so badly lacking at the moment.
Politics destroys people. Either they see the cesspool for what it is and are destroyed when they do not conform, or they conform and are destroyed as they transform into a shallow, corrupted shell of a human. The former is way better, but why rub elbows with what is a universally hated demographic? Poiticians suck. Cant trust them. People who openly express running for office, should be mocked till they come to their senses. Save them from their hubris before its to late.
@@jmc0369 You're a real ray of sunshine aren't you. Could you be any more cynical or bitter? Whatever you think of them politicians run the country which makes it an important job. That's democracy.
Politics would ruin her. We’d be better off if she remained an insightful commentator who wasn’t consumed in scamming people for votes.
she's not smart at all. she literally said if a woman says yes to something we shouldn't think she means yes. she's trying to take even more accountability from womens bad choices. this already is a massive problem with women and their extreme lack of responsibility and accountability
Pornographic imagery has been around since the earliest civilizations. Why are we still trying to shame it out of existence? Does this speaker want to "help" the models and performers? Or make a point about her own superior morality? Like intoxicating substances, porn will have to be managed, because it cannot realistically be banned.
Brilliantly and compellingly argued. The speaker shows definitively that King Porn has no clothes - no pun intended.
What was so brilliant about this round of Louise's bashing of uncomfortable things?
Such an amazing speaker and her speech was spot on. Wish more people saw this.
I totally agree with her point on porn and modern attitude toward sex. The idea that women can enjoy casual sex as much as men is just ridiculously harmful to women.
You don’t have to have casual sex. I know lots of women who have never had casual sex. They still have boyfriends and husbands.
@@katiez688let's not pretend that teen and young women's magazines & media don't encourage casual sex.

Can't believe we have to have a debate about this. Just shows how degraded our society has become.

When a religion talks against porn and open sex, people think it is conservative. But when people themselves realize after a bad experience and its ramifications on social life, they start to talk against it. Then, they get much appreciation 😅

Brilliant and compelling!
what the hell is "feminist porn"? HAHAHAHA
Lesbians?
SMH 🤦♀️
This is somewhat unrelated to the video. I was exposed to this crap before 6 years of age and was genuinely addicted until I got into uni. As a lesbian, it made me objectify women while simultaneously hating my anatomy. Which ties in a little bit to the rampant gender dysphoria in young women my age (20's) and way younger.
I'm 39 and had an internet connection in the 90s when all porn was paywalled, it was still easy enough to access but 99% was, by today's standards, quite tame, mainstream, usually well known performers, and just something to bridge the gaps when a late teen isn't sexually active. The idea that it'd be freely available should have obviously started people thinking that a likely consequence was people becoming desensitised and demanding ever more extreme practices, in hindsight it seems obvious. Return the paywalls, just make it an effort to access and far fewer people will be so badly affected. Make it easier to do something else and people will do that instead. Yes, people will masturbate before bed etc but it will hopefully still be seen as second best to the real thing
Maybe it made you a lesbian?
Lesbians have the least sex of any couples, so problem solved!
wonderfully said
Very good speech.
She's brilliant! Thank you! Pornography is eminently destructive of men, and a parasitical endeavour to society.
it makes mens misogyny of women seem valid.
@@61505 Misogyny, as racism are eminently irrational. There's a big difference of fighting slavery for the exploitation of human beings to fighting racism. The same thing with misogyny; it isn't women the object of condemnation, but the irresponsible actions of those who aim at exploiting other human beings, including men who participate in the act. Individual freedoms are crucial, but some reference to the society should always be present.
@@DragonNo1 To add to my previous comment, itsfar more destructive to women and girls in society than men, because it has the effects oflowering the social status of women in society in the minds of men and teenage boys-and men are generally the ones with more power in society than women and girls.Men don,t suffer freom watching women and girls being used in pornography...
@@61505 I entirely disagree with you in that men don't suffer from watching pornography. You actually have no idea of the impact of explicit sex scenes have in the male brain, and the dependency it creates similar to an addiction to a drug with an evident loss of agency. I'm actually happy that some millennials are trying to stay away from pornography. Do you think that many of these actresses care about their lowering of the social status while they enjoy the easy money and attention? Not while they're in it, but yes, later in life when they discover all the bad choices they made in their hoe's years. This is not only an individual problem, it's a societal problem. Glamorizing crime and perversions only conduce to nihilism. We, in the West, are in a self-destructive path.
@@DragonNo1 itsmuch more harmful to the women involved and also the girls and women who will be the girlfriends or wives of these porn addicted men than it is potentially harmful to any males-it attempts to justify things like rape and it also gets porn addicted men to see all women and girls throughout society as inferior to men and of lower social status in general. Most men and boys don,t suffer from pornography, they claim to enjoy it.So whether you like it or not the status and health of women and girls are important. It is not easy money, the women involved are being directly sexually abused.you need to realise in general that women are important too, not just men.Pornography also falsely represents and trivialises womens sexuality and reproductive system.
The most comprehensive, enlightened & empathetic synopsis of the scourge of the porn industry. What a woman. Wish more could hear this.

I’m glad this is being talked about. I encourage everyone to read Ariel Levy’s “Female Chauvinist Pigs”. She was spelling this out in 2005
Yes, excellent point and I generally agree with you that Ariel Levy and "Female Chauvinist Pigs" were, in one sense, ahead of their time. But what is worrisome to me is that the full extent of internet porn and its harmful impact on society and relationships had not then evolved to the situation we are in witnessing today. In retrospect, Levy efforts seems not to have had the desirable adverse impact on the phenomena still unfolding before us. Between Levy's book and Louise Perry's volume so much has changed--and for the worse--that it beggars belief. This is especially true in terms of the violence against women that occurs in porn as well as the violence against women that Perry documents occurring in parallel in the contemporary "hook-up" dating culture. Having read both, to those who have read neither work, I would suggest beginning with Louise Perry's book, then turn back (in time, so to speak) and read Ariel Levy's volume. Perry is sounding not only an alarm, but her prescriptive recommendations are far more radical than Levy's were.
My only quibble with Louise Perry is that after finding one's true soulmate, children should follow. I am still searching for my beloved, but I have no desire for children [and I hope she won't either].
That's a brilliant book that needs more recognition.
Absolute truth spoken right there👏

Of all of these debate videos, this one is the only one in which YT stopped in the middle of to insert a commercial. Hmm, wonder why?? We disallow all sorts of things based on short & long-term health affects - drug use, prostitution (in most states), motorcycle helmet laws. Helping society to maintain mental health by disallowing people to create porn is a net positive, for individuals who would perform in it, and for those who would watch it.

Dead right love!
it dehumanises women in the eyes of the avid watcher!!! Especially to younger viewers who can access it so easily. The female version of Don Quixote, tilting at windmills.
excellent
I was really hoping for a more convincing argument… there was a number of issues in her reasoning but it was towards the end (11:12) that I decided to leave a comment. “It’s so much easier to give up porn than factory-farmed meat and clothes made in sweat shops because we have to feed and clothe ourselves”. Could I get a scientific journal reference for this claim please or… perhaps she at least has a psychology background? Doesn’t seem like it…
But, much more fundamentally, what exactly is the alternative? I fully accept that there’s tons of issues with the porn industry, but I feel they are symptoms of a sick society and we should be seeking to understand what made it sick in the first place. It’s the same argument as for drugs (including alcohol and tobacco, which are by far the most harmful drugs) - you create more problems by making them illegal, so you have to regulate them and address the root causes. People who develop substance abuse issues often grow up without fathers and experience trauma in their childhoods… I would guess (and not boldly claim without evidence) that people who watch child porn have also experienced some kind of trauma. Focus on the root causes and not the symptoms.
11:10 is true, but kind of undermines the rest of the thesis. Either we have helpless monkey brains unable to disobey our limbic system, and we can't not choose porn or we don't, and these industries are competing for employees and customers like anything else.
New discovery: porn is bad and should be marginalized. I support it. 20 past centuries support it too.
20 past centuries? Seems like a bit Christian to me. But the logic evades me.
Pointing out the things that destroy a society no matter what anyone thinks is what people need to do to save their society. In the end the only way has its extremes that go down in infamy in history. Let us not delve into that dark region of the human experience, by using logic.
"Coomer bouncing at 2:55" XD
Well spoken. Articulate
Most guys I know start watching porn around 11 or 12, and then they watch it regularily, easily for a decade or more. Some of them decide to quit because at some point the realize how harmful it is. Here's the question: Is there a possibility for the brain to heal from that? If the answer is yes, to what degree?
4:30 this is crucial. "say yes at the right moments." once a scene starts, women want to make the time worthwhile. So, halfway through, you can be extreme as f, and they don't want to just waste time, so they do it. Millionaire stars have said they did things they didn't want to just to make everyone happy. If women didn't keep saying years later they felt coerced, sure... But it's clear, too many women can't make a decision in the moment, that doesn't feel coerced, even when no one is doing it. Women like to please, and thus, we get coercion, even without men needing to do anything.
This is also a symptom of the inability to understand the repercussions of their actions in the face of short term gain.
@@Firenmage433 But that doesn't just pertain to porn as many are able to see now in various spheres (political, social, economic, etc).
And the solution to that problem is what? Raising women not to be crowd-pleasing?
Why does this look like a Vampire Council
How can anyone defend porn and prostituting it's beyond me
Any sort of sex work is a former child being molested or neglected or just being groomed for abuse.
3:15 - There is no such thing as retroactive revocation of consent. Once you've done the thing, that's it. You've done it, and you have to live with your decision to do it. You can't un-ring a bell.

How far we have fallen. Obviously end porn on the internet. Do it for our children. Do it for ourselves.
Because of what? Paying for your porn will benefit everybody, but the reasoning for a total ban is a bit muddled.
I agree with her message in general but to be fair, only fans did try to ban sexual content on its site but the content creators weren’t having it.
According to the dating app stats, women (at least those using said apps) find 80% of men unattractive and folks are surprised porn is a thing?
If TV weathergirls would show just a little more skin on the morning news this debate wouldn't be necessary.
"It is so much easier to give up porn than to give up factory-farmed meat." No, this isn't true. Giving up factory-farmed meat is just as easy or even easier for some. No excuses for contributing to the bad treatment of animals.
I second that.
It unsurprising how gynocentric this talk is. It's almost like gay porn and many other forms of porn which exploits men, just doesn't exist.
Thank you, I’ve been commenting the same thing. You can tell that she doesn’t like men when she states the fact the Onlyfans is owned by a man like it explains the platform is toxic!
Makes me sick man
This side won the debate.
If sex is like butter, then porn is margarine. Margarine is completely synthetic, you leave it sitting out on a hot summer day, not even insects will touch it.
"Incredibly common." Really stats please.
No voices for?
Why are intelligent women so attractive? She is brilliant and GORGEOUS!
What was the vote?
She is so right!!!
Need to destroy producers
Thanks to this girl for his fight !
New Era? What was the old Era? This is all a bit much. Don't you think things like poverty, lack of jobs, cost of housing & education etc...are far more important things?
Gas on the fire of porn is every male teenager with a smart phone in their pocket.
if you want to make a dent in the porn industry then attack procrastination, bc it's not addiction, it's procrastination
