  • Vincent Enyeama of #Nigeria is widely regarded as one of Africa’s greatest and most reliable goalkeepers, a distinction he earned over the course of a career laden with silverware and unforgettable moments. But he once had a glaring weakness which was shown to the world on Africa's biggest stage, #AFCON, putting his team, the #supereagles, in trouble and making him come under intense scrutiny. This is the story of how one of Africa's greatest goalkeepers bounced back from humiliation and a scary accident.

Captivating and heroic ! Nigeria has always paraded world class goalkeepers .... Emmanuel Okala, Best Ogedegbe, Peter Rufai and Vincent Enyeama. I was one of those who were disappointed by his poor penalty mentality especially at Tunisia 2004. I watched the 2006 qfnl standing in a crowd in a family home courtyard who had dstv. We were tensed up for 3 hours. Our tension dissipated finally by Enyeama's heroics . We were shocked to see him save those penalties . Each time he saved one, the crowd wd roar in Hausa " Ya tare!!!!!" meaning " he has blocked it:!!!"In 2010 AFCON quarter final , another marathon shootout against Zambia when Enyeama stepped up to take the winning penalty after making several saves, the crowd at the viewing center where I watched the game chanted Enyeama's name..." Enyama, ci mu je gida "!!! over and over, meaning " Enyeama, score so we can go home"!!! Thank you for this great documentary.

You have a point. After keeping a clean slate against Kenya in a 3 nil win at the final wc q game, that unfortunate accident. If Dosu had gone to France, he would have done better than that ageing Rufai who was past his heyday . I've Shorunmu was also good and his confidence grew after the 2000 AFCON.@@moseskayode6643

@johntgom. Rufai was actually the best goalie that ever man Nigeria national team goalpost. Before you call him basket do research about him right from St Goegery college Lagos to Sharks of PH back to Stationary Stores of Lagos to Femo scorpion of Ibadan that he single handedly brought from third tier of Nigeria league then onto elite before moving to dragon dahome because of the 1 year suspension handed to the super eagles player then for indispline which pave way and started the exodus of Nigeria players going abroad

I believe there are goalkeepers like Vincent in the local league who needed a look and given a chance .
