A tribute to my trip to Berlin last October. Berlin's metro network S-bahn and U-bahn are fantastic. Now let's find some Easter Eggs hiding somewhere in the video :D

Interesting choice to have metro above ground in the city centre or downtown and have metro underground in the neighbourhoods. It is exactly vice versa in most cases I believe :)
There are multiple cases where they build above ground in city centres while building it underground in the outskirts of the city. This is usually because of technical difficulties. When they initially built the line, they didn't have the technology or the resources to build underground in the downtown area. But as the line was extended, they had more resources to spare to build the tracks underground.
Yeah that's reason, the underground part is extended from Capchester East station to connect to other metro lines
@@oharon25 Chicago does it the same way, mostly due to the city being built on a high water table and close to a lake
@@mccabecompositions Yeah we also have the same problem here in Seoul, where they did not have the technology to cross the Han river which is almost 2km long until the 1990s. So all lines built before that go overground to cross the river. Another reason why there are quite a lot of above ground tracks in the downtown area is because of cost. When they built the lines back in the 70s and the 80s, nobody really complained about the sound pollution (especially having an authoritarian government) But now, if the government even tries to build anything above ground, there will be protests everywhere. So nowadays, even the parts of the line in the suburbs or the rural areas are built under ground.
In New York City it's the exact opposite. In the city center, it's underground and above/ on ground in other boroughs.
Edit- In Manhattan there used to be above ground lines but they got rid of those. The reason why the other boroughs don't have underground lines is because there's a material underground that they can't dig through.

Small thing: at least this goes for Hamburg, Germany. When the train is going to terminate its announced in German and English due to multi cultural population :)
It has nothing to do with the multi cultural Population. The reason for this, is the big amount of tourists coming to cities Like Hamburg or Berlin each year.

I speak for the S-Bahn Rhine-Ruhr, in terms of the announcements
For a station they would say:
"Nächste Station: Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof, sie haben Anschluss an S8 nach (direction of S-Bahn) über (one of the next stations of the S-Bahn)
When the next station is the last one:
"Nächste Station: Wuppertal Oberbarmen, Diese Zugfahrt endet dort, wir bitten alle Fahrgäste auszusteigen. Bitte achten sie beim Verlassen des Zuges darauf ihre persönlichen Gegenstände mitzunehmen. Vielen Dank und auf Wiedersehen. Bis zum nächsten Mal ihre S-Bahn Rhein Ruhr."(or S-Bahn Berlin)

I am just surprised that they use S-bahn as metros in Berlin as we have U-Bahns running as metros in NRW (also in Munich as i visited there last year).

First: normaly German city buildings looks old they are not skyscrapers ( only city in germany hat has skyscrapers is frankfurt am main ) 2. second I saw some Palms they of course do not exist in germany we have here ,,boreal“ climat not subtropical...
