Also, a correction, it's not a full 2 years marriage. For most of the 2 years Daniel was abroad. That's was caused her to change. During the 2 years she slept with another man (or men) and pair-bonded with him ( or them). That made lose feeling for Daniel when he came back; hence she denied Daniel knacking because she didn't miss him too much.
Also, i hear the claim that Gift is stubborn as if this is a badge of honor and that the burden falls on her husband to jump through the hoops, bend over backwards and learn to talk with her.
