- Probably not doing all of Vector, but here's another one from it - I am really enjoying this album so far!
----
I adhered to the NES limit of 4 maximum simultaneous sounds (technically it's 5, but I use two combined for the kick drum as did most NES composers), which means that in order to accurately represent the chords, I had to arpeggiate some parts and harmonise with the bass in others. I made the image by tracing over the original album cover and by applying what I could discover about NES colour palettes.
even in 8 bit, this song is amazing
You know a song is a masterpiece if it sounds heavenly even in 8bit
this is my first youtube comment in years. just wanted to say this is fucking incredible.
Not nearly my favourite Haken album, but this song is pretty good, and you've certainly done it justice.
Pale Blue Dot off the new DT record would be fucking immense in 8 bit
I completely agree. A lot of the album would work well, they stripped it down a lot so it is a lot more compatible with this format. Stay tuned!
I'm loving this so far!
This is from another dimension!!
Badass bass!
cool nice job man!
This is so good!
Perfect! Love it!
Epic!
Would you be down to give a shot at "Host"?
Probably not any time soon - Host hasn't clicked with me so I have no desire to spend the time on it to convert it. Maybe I'll get into it at some point and then I might give it the 8-bit treatment, but right now I'd say it's a no.
I'm pretty sure you didn't do all this work just by ear (I'm not sure if that's the expression lol), did you transcribe it by sheet? Great job dude!
I transcribed by ear into a Guitar Pro file (the one on Ultimate Guitar - that's me), then exported that as a MIDI file and imported it into FL, applied the NES sounds I use to it, and reduced the simultaneous notes manually until it was authentic. Basically, yeah I kind of did it by ear.
Holy shit, you're good!! :D
3:49 found bowser
Could you have a tutorial or midi part to this? Learning this on piano would be amazing or do you know where I could find music for it?
I made a GP5 file on Ultimate Guitar for Veil (and ultimately used it here). If you search there, you should find it
