Thank you Misha for showing me and letting me experience what this car can do! Had a blast out there! Too bad the superbike got in the way, but still an epic run!
Thank you for bringing the car 🙌
very cool to see what the carcan do. Going to the Tesla dealer to see about getting one.
Thanks om langs te gaan en ons deze video te bezorgen. Zalig om te zien!!
Awesome lap! Great to see the car performing so well
Do you know if Tesla updated the suspension settings in track mode for plaids without the track pack?
We are still talking about a street legal production car with 5 seats and a big boot. This is absolutely insane.
Nonsense!!! It's about almost the same with 600 petrol sedans! Imagine if those sedans has also 1000hp!
There is nothing insane about this! I've seen a 900hp Audi rs7 do 363kmh(not top speed) because of tires limitation!
@@carholic-sz3qv What kind of comparison is that? They don't have 1000. They only have 600. So they are a lot slower.
@@moltres5740 they are not alot slower when you compare their laptimes lol!!!! Try again! Also why can it only tow 5000lbs!? The big Porsche cayenne with 640hp tows about over 7000lbs just to mention!

The way the owner of the car stayed calm... commendable!
Impressive considering he said that's his first time on the track. I'd expect people to be scared, especially passing so closely and quickly.
Yeah but he WAS scared at a few points 😂. Not that I blame him.
I don't know. The sunglasses where hiding his reaction fairly well but I think he was close to shitting himself about 60% of the time 🤣
All I see is that his soul left him right at the first acceleration
His soul couldn't follow.
Misha’s honesty and humility is a large part of this channels success.
Indeed!
I didn't like how he justified bottoming out that manual Murcielago. Owner clearly didn't want to damage it but Misha continued.
@@Globbs no one is perfect. He probably learned a lot from that. But Mischa can’t take responsibility for how a cars suspension behaves - if you ask him to push it - then he will - consequences more due to pushing than bad driving.
its a learnt behavior as any psychologist would explain it, super common in sociopaths
Haha!
I’m as much impressed with his driving skills as I am with what this car is capable of
The guy doesn't even break a sweat !! 😅
Absolutely!
I’m more impressed with the passenger’s straight face. I was suffering just watching what my car can do. Literally sweating just from watching. Anyone else?
And it’s his first time on a track!
I dont understand the hate on the plaid. It is mind bending for the money. I prefer the plaid over the new c63. In fact, I'm sure the plaid is cheaper to run, more fun and more exciting than a hybrid 2 ton compact sedan. Very honest video Misha, I'm not a tesla fan boy or anything, im just a guy who appreciates good CZcams content, honesty and enjoyment

Bmw M2 looked like a 218i 😄
It's really really really batshit insane that you can spend between 100 to 150K dollars and end up with a car that accelerates faster then many million dollar super-sport cars.
A Camaro ZL1 1LE is $70k and 9 seconds faster than the Plaid around the track 6 years ago. It’s not really that insane as there a quite a few cheaper cars setting faster times.
Yea but u pay for it in different ways. Weight feeling etc waiting to charge knowing your investment is most likely to go belly up

Pretty clear that the battery heat and tyre were the limiting factor here. Good to see some progress from tesla
Teslas progress is so far the biggest in whole industry, look at Audi giving rs7 performance 30 more hp 😂
It's not the battery. With a larger radiator and enough coolant flow increase you could keep the battery at room temp.
@sooocheesy you will increase the weight of the car significantly trying to keep 750kw system at room tempature.
Tyres? lol the tyres work on any other car, its just too heavy. That and the battery overheating.

to anyone not familiar with going fast on motorbikes: you cannot see the mirrors when lying flat on the bike during high speed sections. even if you could you alter your body and therefore your head position so significantly between going fast, slowing down, doing slower corners, those little mirrors are not able to provide you with a wide and clear picture of what’s behind you…. „looking in the rearview mirror“ is not a quick glance for bikers, its an action you take when its possible to do so
@@ritterkeks so...keep right then?

Brutal, I also stand corrected with my Tesla friends, track pack is outstanding. Many thanks to the owner for letting us enjoy such a great machine.
Tesla is brutal but it will never be in top 20 times on Nurburging. It's painful to watch such a heavy car on track. Electric cars are not sports cars! Those are fast in straight line but as I said, Tesla probably will never be in top 20 Nurburging times (maybe Roasdster but I would say not even that).
@@mihaiceclan9849it’s a $150k electric family sedan loaded with technology, which is completely different from every car in the top 20
@@mihaiceclan9849 OK! Let's put 5 adults and luggage in all these top 20 cars and the Tesla, and see which one gets the best time. What I mean is that these to 20 cars are made for the track (are they even street legal?); my wife wouldn't dare driving any of them. The Tesla is a full-size 5-place saloon which is perfectly well behaved on the road.
So, no, it is indeed no pure racer (which race car has 5 seats?)... but it is an incredibly well-designed car... if even Misha was impressed!
@@st-ex8506 sorry, my mistake, Tesla Plaid is not even in top 60 Nurburgring time. The thing is that Tesla is not a track car and can not even keep up with a M3 Competition for example, because of the weight. The weight on that car is insane! My definition of a fast car is: max 1700 kg and 500+ hp. I'm sure there are family cars that can compete with Tesla regarding performance, one would be Porsche Panamera, Audi RS6, BMW M5 and so on. Beware I said compete on a track not in a drag race.🙂
@@mihaiceclan9849 Tesla Plaid is indeed around 60th time of all street-legal cars, but more like 30th when taking out multiple entries of the same model.
It is also the fastest 5-place... and also the fastest car with heated and ventilated seats which can fart.
😉
I see no Porsche Panamera, Audi RS or BMW M5 in that list... so it is the fastest family career on the Ring. But you are correct: it is no optimal track car! Who said it was? Not Tesla, who doesn't even pay lip service to racing... with the exception of beating the Porsche Taycan on the Ring!
This is impressive... especially the first part of the track this thing achieves speeds which many racecars dont. We have to remember this is a 5-seater "luxury" sedan
one that you can go fast with, without bothering everyone around you with massive sound.
@@AERONOOBi enjoy the Sound tho 😔
@@Lieferandoexe i get that. But other people around, usually do not.

Bigger radiator would be great to get rid of the battery heat. If your are willing to give up the Frunk you could install a bigger aftermarket radiator ( if somebody would ever sell such a thing ) with bigger Fans
The radiator is already a lot bigger and takes up most of the space in the front.
radiator is huge. when on track mode it makes as much noise as a gas engine
@@plaidmode8606 And it actually prioritises the motor and battery cooling. Later that day it was having a problem keeping the inside of the car cool when doing the top speed runs. And as you said: noisy as hell in track mode
@@StevenPeetersdoes it use the AC to pump out more heat from the battery?
@@alpenfoxvideo7255 The radiator has 2 separate circuits, but it uses the coolant loops for powertrain and interior inn series with the HV battery cooling via the octovalve at a rate of 28 liters per minute for maximum battery and power train cooling. Because of the massive heat absorption I guess that the cabin can't be chilled as much. That where the called seats come in handy 🙂
Oh, I've been waiting for a video like this to be created. Thanks a lot for showing the Track Pack the way you did. I think the development this car is undergoing is awesome to see. Besides, more videos are to come hopefully. Lets see a lap under ideal circumstances soon!
I could watch 7:05 to 7:18 over and over again. That is just INSANE.
This car picks up speed so rapidly that it would be scary to drive it without seeing the speedometer because you could end up with insane speeds to familiar corners. For example, not many cars can do ~270 km/h to the first compression on tourist lap around 7:15.
That section I found really impressive, too!
But I was shocked to see 30% of the battery gone and reduced power output in half a lap. I mean, I really dig electric cars but this is not good.
@@FfortheT that's like saying it's shocking to see 30% of Usain Bolt's breath gone in the first half of a marathon. they're simply not made for tracking
@@whatashave Entirely different. No standard ICE road car is going to use 30% of it's fuel tank in 6 or 7 miles, nor any standard road car is going to go into a reduced power mode in 6 or 7 miles due to overheating.

@@jimi272 Note I was talking about "standard" road cars and for what it's worth, if the Chiron drove flat out it would still only use 1 gallon to cover the distance the Plaid went into limp mode. Chiron does 7.8mile/gallon at full chat and won't be overheating in that time.

So the conclusion is: Overheats after 1/3 lap even with a yellow zone and backing off during the high speed section and you can't run two laps because the Battery would be empty.
Gotcha, Track Pack = Marketing only
Very damn good for a big, heavy, four door sedan. And the acceleration past other cars is just incredible!
Hope the roadster cools its batteries better and is a lot lighter. This should be the benchmark for a good (fast) EV: can it survive a full lap by a pro without overheating the battery, the motor or the brakes?

You're not wrong! However I did say that their record would be impossible with the stock suspension with just a few software tricks. After driving it, I guess it is. Old car is still horrible. Great that they fixed the stability, if they could make it able to do full power for an entire lap that would also be good.
There must have been a misunderstanding about the tires!
Michelin Pilot 4s comes factory fitted to a variety of high performance street cars.
The Goodyear 3R Eagle F1 semi-slick option is probably the non-street legal option. Would have been very interesting to see what differences those tires had made!

Conceptually the software can be programmed specifically for the given track or any track given telemetry data is recorded. You can then have a profile available per track, as opposed to a general "track profile". In other words is strand tourismo but in real life without having to buy a million different parts.
The acceleration is like a bad CGI, but it’s real and insane!
What I was thinking
Cartoonish indeed
35% of the battery gone in a single hot lap (with 2 yellow sectors) and heat leading to reduced power. This car and likely most EVs are still far from being track ready, the tech still has a long way to go. Nevertheless a great upgrade overall by Tesla with this track pack it seems, just hindered by the underlying tech issues atm.
I couldn't believe how fast the battery drains lol.
Funniest thing it would probably not able to charge it fast or at all due the heat so I don't understand comments praising this car If you can't even do a whole lap with fully power

Nice coop with Steven. His channel is more about the technical aspects, especially the rules here in Europe that are governing the self-driving systems, but I find that very interesting. :-)
The other car you drive didn't have the lastest track mode. You need to let the car cool down in track mode before driving. Non track pack cars also get the same suspension settings. The problem was that the other Plaid you drove had the old track pack.
If i remember correctly Sebastian Vittel's car had no track pack, but it had aftermarket mods from Unplugged Performance.
@@ajcsanders yeap and it had the old track pack software. That is the main difference here for handling. For people that buy the track they the speed limiter remove to go 200mph+. Hopefully Misha drives Sebanstian's car again with the new track pack software because it should feel the same as this one but with the 173mph limiter.
I know the Tesla is amazing, but Misha controlling different cars so quickly is insane to watch every time. Give him a torque orientated car he’s so quick to adjust, give him a slidey Peugeot he has a blast. And the racing lines are so effortless.

Artificial intelligence has been instrumental In Teslas development thus far and will continue to be a key factor in any future improved design developments. The capacity that Artificial intelligence technologies has advanced is absolutely amazing and terrifying.
Jfc that ring taxi BMW M5 doesn't get overtaken very often!
Awesome!!! I am looking forward seeing a Lap with completely precooled battery!
Look at how quickly the speed increases!
Its unreal how many big boxes this car ticks.. Having Hypercar beating straight line performance, reasonable track cornering performance, while being a perfectly comfortable family car that will last 15 yrs with practically no maintenance.. While costing $100k!
Also a movie and gaming theater with great sound
It is a bargain of the century if you ask me
until it detects a child or household pet and drives over it
its none of these
Imagine with those semi slicks
Imagine what? It will overheat even quicker.
@@marwood9421 that's not how it Works.
@@marwood9421 overheat quicker with semi slicks ? Thanks genius 🤣🤣🤣
Any car will be tested, the nurburgring is the best place to test oil temp, engine temp, battery temp(EV),brake temp nvm suspension and tyre set up then power comes into play actually for the full package. New record 270 before the pit lane 😮 geez and u match each car perfectly is insane talent 👏 👌 🙌
If ya want to warp your brain a little bit, look at in cabin camera and kinda blend it with the track camera when they are going thru a curve.
Best when wheels are squalling.
It looks/feels like they are sliding sideways thru the curve.
great driving Misha, you tossed that tesla around like it was a toy, you showed how fast it can go around anything on the ring an just how well a track pack treats a plaid,
stay blessed misha we love you brother ! stay safe you an yours !
I really like to see continuous progress from the EV sector. Call me a traditionalist though, Id rather have a Carrera T for the track
Really cool seeing what their suspension team did via software. Can't wait to see what the Cybertruck can do
It was clear that Tesla wont accept the image given by the last plaid on track eirh the French owner steering. Just surprised how quick Tesla reacted ti change the setting. Applaus to all being involved in this production. A pleasure to watch.
Wow does that thing build speed. It also appears to be sticking hard to that track.
My stomach and my ass would trade places if i was in that passenger seat. Props to him for ever being on a track too.
Insane... The speed wow.... It feel so weird to see something this fast, with like comfortable seats, regular seatbelts, nice interior... The overheating is a shame, but I am pretty sure they will be able to sort it in the future.
Amazing video. Misha you are a real pilot
As for the Tesla...... Unbelievable fast. But i notice how fast the battery goes down. Wondering if from full charge could run 3 laps.
"These Tires are NOT street legal"
"We managed 328 on the autobahn on the way here"
...😂
nope. Michelin 4s are legal. The tires offered by Tesla - Goodyear Supercar 3R - aren’t street legal in the European Union because of their similarity to slicks
Not bad at all. Played a game of what will the battery charge finish on... 51% could be worse
30% for one lap... so, you'll get 3 laps at most.
Fast.. but still a garbage car.
@@eugenux 3 laps is really good. Sadly, Plaid overheats before lap 1 ends🤣 . That said, most track cars last 2-3 laps too on the Ring (it's a long track!!), but at FULL power!!. After that, refuel, let it cool. Tesla does need a charger though. 15min to 80%.
@@eugenux 3 laps is actually more than decent, how much do you think an ICE car does?
Valid criticisms for this car certainly exist, but this isn't one of them.
@@Henry_Jr_Watssondon't forget that after quick charging battery will be overheated even more if it would actually charge quickly because of the temp it already has from all this driving. So basically until you cool the battery down it's not gonna be good
The rear view camera is as much fun to watch as the one facing forwards, this thing is nuts!
Jeebus. What a ride! Thanks for posting this!
This thing is actually ridiculous, it’s crazy how good electric cars have gotten within the past few years
Like always the biggest problem is the battery... -35% in just One lap doesn´t leve too much time to enjoy it.
so approx 70% for two laps and then you could supercharge back in 15 minutes? How is this a problem?
@@trancenut81the majority of race tracks are far from cities (at least here in Spain), so I don't think there will be superchargers in a long, long time (or even if there will ever be).
Also if you supercharge your battery 5 times in a very short space of time, I suspect you will destroy it quickly (and it's not a cheap replacement).
That looks as if it fast forward ❤😍
Idk but this guy's video just gets better everytime. Keep up the good work.
