He is so cool. The ice shack was great and that can crusher is ingenious! They have some long cold winters. The first time I saw the Ice shack way of life was on "Grumpy Old Men". Back then I thought that would be so fun to do.
love these creative guys. I have met many in my lifetime living in Northern Wi. I am a machinist and the old guys like this are creative and independent, not may left in our throw away society.. I am going to remake my shack into something likes Joe has so I can move to find the fish and not have to drill so many holes all the lake. Great idea. If you see my shack on Lake Alice in Tomahawk Wi I will give Joe the credit he is due..
Truly. I just hate it when my whole left side sink counter stacks up with empties and it takes me several minutes to crush them. I know I know. I 'could' crush them as I drink them but then I could not drink at all. Equally likely to happen.
Apparently I have been ice fishing all wrong. Here's to you Joe! What a treat it would have been to sit and chat with this gentleman and catch a few fish on hard water.
What a wonderful guy. God bless him and his ideas. My Mom used to make pickled northern too. Great snack. This motorized ice hut would be a hot seller around the lake areas. Thanks for the vid
2coolhipdude Oh, idiot haters who feel they need to preach their beliefs because everyone else is supposed to care.. Gotcha.. Oh well, tonights smelt feed was delicious!!
Donna Podnar Cool! Glad to hear it's being preserved in the family. What a great uncle to have. (I see I wasn't the only one commenting on the video's title. Maybe a more appropriate title would be "John's Uncle Joe's Ice Shack"...?) :-) Thanks!
My father's "Pickled Pike" recipe is/was much better than this guys tasty dream but I have no match to his motorized ice shanty... Whatta true blue ice fisherman...
Great Story...Some Grandchild will have a great mentor to learn from!
He is so cool.

Made me smile. We oldsters still have it!
I love this, we can learn a lot from our older generation.

I really enjoyed his dialect as well. "And I says" strong "O" sound. Very Upper Midwestern.
That's an intelligent man. Hopefully he has young family members to pass it on. I could listen to his stories all day long
I love this state and it's people. I can only hope I manage this at that age.
Good Job JOE! You have a Great Mind for mechanical things. What a great idea!
You are so cool Joe . I agree with you on the type of ice fishing you do. . Good luck this season 👍 . Thx for sharing . Glad I ran across your story.
That can crusher idea is totally brilliant, and there's a huge market for something like that today. Two thumbs up to Joe Podner for inventing it.

Joe is a genius!! People like him should be praised for his expertise!
Apparently I have been ice fishing all wrong. Here's to you Joe! What a treat it would have been to sit and chat with this gentleman and catch a few fish on hard water.
Hats off to John....how many guys have thought about a shack like this and never followed through with it.
Love the shack would love to see more of how you put it together
A very creative old man! I love it!
My son would love this. He is a tinker too and a ice fisherman. Any kind of fishing is his thing.
We NEED this fish shack! Would be so much easier to take our wheelchair bound son fishing!!
And we now have the sno bear! And it’s selling like crazy. Polaris shouldn’t have turned that idea down
I love this! I need to look around for some tracks wish I knew how he did it. What a slick idea.
That's awesome! Great ingenuity. I don't live in an area that snows, but if I did, I could definitely see this as a deer blind as well.
good to see Joe was an Old Style man, a toast to Joe, landed a nice northern there too
I love it. Credit goes to Joe in his senior wisdom !

Wow what a cool old man Jack is
VERY COOL!!! I love a great idea...........
Excellent idea Joe! They would sell big up here in Canada for sure.
Brilliant idea and I'm sure there are a number of commercial applications.
Just love this, a strong midwestner, must be swede or norweigen.
Love it.
This is the type of Ice House I need. Cheaper than a snow bear!
The 1st Snowbear.
What America Is All About !
This guy is my hero
My track truck is going to be the next ice fishing shack!!!
This gentlemen is my hero....
love it...what a guy !
I believe his name is "Joe" not "John".
It is Joe. He was an old friend of my parents.
I love his hat.
Really inventive!!!

This is pretty cool. Think I will stick to Fly Fishing though!
Good job Joe. Hope you're enjoying yourself.

Someone from my hometown would do something like that.

Why is the video called "John's ice shack" when the guy's name is Joe? (Joseph Podner).
Joe passed away several years ago. His nephew, John now has it & is very proud of his Uncle Joe :)
