  • Hi Everyone and welcome back to my channel, if you're new here, a big welcome, I hope you like my content and would like to press the like button and subscribe to see new videos!
I sometimes like to batch cook, as a busy mum with some health issues, it does make things a little easier but recently I have been batch cooking for my dad, so that he has proper homecooked meals that he enjoys and are the right size meal for him, he puts most of them in the freezer and they will last a good month or so with also topping up with ready meals from elsewhere. It feels great being able to help my Dad out and knowing that he is eating the food he enjoys.
So, I hope you enjoy the video and that it gives you ideas on how to batch cook in a proficient manner if you haven't done it before or maybe just give you some recipe ideas!

These meal preps really help a lot. If you’re lucky enough to have where to store it, it saves you a lot of time. The meals look really yummy, your dad must be so happy now 😊

It certainly does. That's one of the reasons I didn't do a huge batch because not many people have loads of freezer space, including my dad, it filled one whole drawer of his freezer and actually by putting them into freezer bags and laying them flat they would've taken up less space but he likes the microwavable tubs, so I do those for him. He was so happy and a bit overwhelmed with the dinners bless him 😊

I have recently started batch cooking and really helps with not having to cook every day and costs, I have disabilities fybromyala and osteoarthritis so find it easier for me.

That's fantastic, im glad it's making things easier for you, every little bit helps out, especially not having to cook everyday. I also have fibromyalgia, so I understand how that is.
I've started batch cooking sauces, then I always have one in the freezer handy if I want a homemade one. Unfortunately my kids don't love meals that were frozen so I don't do a ton of batch meals but they are brilliant for people that eat them!
I'm not sure if you have seen any of my videos where I talk about using frozen, pre chopped veg? I find that really helps with my conditions, not having to chop so much because of my hands and standing, always having what I need and no wastage helps cost wise.

Thank you, I love doing something nice for him, he's always been there for me helping me so it's my turn now.
Just an idea, instead of freezer batch cooking as you don't have the space and you're a large family, how about batch cooking say 3 days worth of meals, putting them in the fridge and then you don't have to cook for 3 days. Some meals, particularly things like chilli will develop the flavours and taste better after a couple of days anyway xx

@@thefarfromperfectmum I might try and start doing that. It would save so much time xx

It really would, particularly if you're using some of the same ingredients, I particularly picked dishes that had some of the same ingredients so that prepping was quick and easy and I managed to cook them all nearly the same time too. I was already thinking about doing this fridge prep for my family, so think I'll give it a try. Would be helpful for you as your kids are young and you're a large family, wish I'd done it years ago!
