I noticed the same thing as you, but if you watch closely it never says 7 ball sudden death, so either it's another event, they redid the rules for that years edition or they just forgot.

This was dumb calling it 7 ball...that's not 7 ball...actual 7 ball the onecoming player after break gets to call a side for the 7 ball...he gets those three pockets and the other side of table is for the other player. You have to pocket the 7 one the pockets on your side.
This had to be 2001 or 2002, these were the only years in Baltimore. Corey was Champion in this event twice, 2001 in Baltimore and 2004 in Las Vegas. I saw the win in Las Vegas live, as I live here. This is 2001.
