My neighbor has this condition. It's heartbreaking to see someone whose used to being independent going through that. Thankfully he has the support of his family around him. IMO one of the biggest lies out there is that "you need to be indipendant regardless of your situation." We all have weaknesses and shortcomings. Find a community, friends, family. You might end up with people who can cover for your weaknesses.

I had this homeless lady outside my workplace. We took break as usual, stepped out front and I instantly smelt something. At first I thought someone left a deposit in front of our store and then I looked around the corner. There was a lady without a home charging her phone out there. My co workers, some of them, were speaking quietly, and very low of her. I kept wanting to offer her some food or water considering I worked at a grocery store at the time and it was 2am. I asked my co worker, since I was on the clock, if I should offer her something. She just said “don’t engage with her”. Wish I would’ve at least handed her a water. Still think about the fact I didn’t :/

And I used to use “mostly abled person” or “less abled person” until I had a few old patients that would get so upset and cry over those terms because they thought I looked at them like someone really far on the spectrum or obese where you can’t say certain things bc you want to be nice. They aren’t, they are just people with difficulties that live the same lives as us.

This actually made me happy because I did this once so I was eating at a restaurant and I saw one disabled person I felt bad so I helped him and he was actually a really nice guy he said he was diagnosed with autism and I had a brother with autism so it hit the bottom of my heart

A lot of people in the comments saying that the guy's parents are the reason why he's a good guy. As Nature vs Nurture exists, let's give props the the guy himself. Maybe he was raised by good parents, I don't particularly know, but he was the one to take action, so he deserves at least some credit.

Imo both of them did, alone that the disabled guy went to eat outside in the open.. alone that is straight up impressive. If I'd be disabled in that way I don't think I would have the confidence to even go out to eat. So huge respect to both of them.
