I went to school in the mid 50's with a lad who clicked his heals and saluted Adolph Hitler frequently, especially at recess. He claimed to be related to Hitler and that his parents had moved to the US after WW2. He would the right age for all of it to be true. He spoke fluent German and was rather dilegent in his zeal for Hitler for someone his age. We were 8 or 10 years old at the time. As long as you're talking about very specific and rather useless knowledge you're right. In my experience I've learned more about the broader history of the world during history class than just about the history of the second world war.
But perhaps this is a good solution if your school did not provide you with a good history education. I think It's a great thing this channel is doing in terms of educating the masses.

Douwe E. It’s rather unfortunate that from my elementary to 8th grade year in American school, “history class” was always a bland telling of our revolutionary war and an even blander unit in 7th grade on the Romans and Greeks. There needs to be a reform in how one of the most important subjects is taught..

Including a graphic of the family tree might of helped some, as it gets a little confusing keeping track of the who's who and how they're connected among the Hitler brood. Alois, Adolf's father, was a bully and brute, and 23 years older than Klara, Adolf's mother, who was originally hired into the Hitler household as a servant at the age of 16. She married Alois some 9 years later, five months pregnant, after Alois' first wife died. He was known to be rough with her while physically abusive with the kids. One can only wonder what the temperament in the Hitler household was like and whether force was involved in Klara's relations with Alois. (It certainly wasn't love.) In the 1800s, servants were common even in middle class households and though largely unspoken of in polite society, the prospect of young, uneducated servant girl being coerced into sexual relations with the household's master (or master's son) was relatively common as well. Maids made handy mistresses. Poor Klara. Had she had even an inkling of what was to come, she probably would have got on the first boat to America and got the hell out of Austria.

Hitler was pure evil but if you’re his mom I feel like his existence would restore faith in your self image. Like having a kid play a professional sport but not just play, also becoming an infamous living legend. If he was my kid I would dang near be blissfully ignorantly proud.
