Book Review Fantastic Thrillers Magpie and Before You Knew My Name

These two thrillers are my favorite I’ve read recently. Both dealing with women’s issues.
Magpie by Elizabeth Day centers around Marisa, a young woman with a tough past who wants a person to belong to. She meets Jake and everything is going well until they have to take in a lodger named Kate. It seems like Kate has truly made herself at home. The plot twist in this one will knock you for a loop.

Before You Knew My Name by Jacqueline Bubitz is an ode to New York as much as it is to young Alice Lee who tells us very early on she was murdered. She’s going to need the help of Ruby Jones, a woman from another continent, with no connection to her other than arriving in New York on the same day, to help solve her murder.
