Cam, when you’re 6’6”, the extra length on the shirt sleeves are much welcomed! I wish I can get my hand on one now as I was undecided for a while on purchasing these.
Well Cam, thanks to you and your smooth talk I bite the bullet and bought one of these on the secondary market. Paid through the nose LOL. Like you, I was uncertain on this shirt at release, waited too long and they sold out fast. I kept coming back to this video and the IH forum and decided YOLO. LOVE the shirt and glad I decided to take the plunge.
@@CameronO Thanks man. How good? SOOOO good! It’s almost so good I’m afraid to wear it, lol. Seriously though, like you, it’s probably one of the best decisions I’ve made clothing wise. Thanks again for the enabling.
Our local second hand clothing reseller chain here, Buffalo Exchange, had a vintage Montgomery Ward flannel from the 1970s in these same exact colors. It was a regular button up (non-western) type heavyweight flannel.
I got one at the 20th anniversary party (man that was a great weekend). I’m 5 foot 10 and I had to size up to a XL as I have quite a broad chest and back, to avoid the pulled-tight look across the chest. I agree about the arms being much longer than I’m used to from my IH work shirts, but part of that is the fact it’s a western, and longer sleeves are part of that style/pattern. Even an old, crummy GAP chambray western I have has sleeves this long (that’s a medium and fits about the same, if that helps anyone). Ive found wearing a layer either over or under the shirt helps alleviate the length, or just keeping the snaps done up if you’re not rolling the cuffs stops them slipping too far down. Totally agree it’s a great shirt, been wearing it a lot now that the weather is cooling.
Hey Cam, so I nuked the shirt on a 90degree wash to see what would happen to sleeves. They’re just as long, but the cuffs have tightened up a decent amount. So where the loose cuffs would just hang before and the end of the sleeve was on my first knuckles, my hand is now stopping them from slipping down beyond the wrist. Might be worth you giving yours a wash too.
I love the longer sleeves since my I have long arms. Can almost touch my knees standing straight. The fit of their shirts is the reason I fallen in love with them. Same as you Cameron I seen this shirt on the catalog sent out with garments and wanted to pass on this one. Watch yours, The Shops and Ironshop Provisions and still won’t grab it. Wish they’d bring back the purple and teal one you review would come back out.
I would personally recommend sizing up one from your normal size for Iron Heart, this is what was recommended to me from 3 different retailers and I'm glad I did.
The one we’ve been waiting for ! Haha glad you’re enjoying it the more you wear it. I unfortunately sold mine- just sized up too big. Let’s see if an XL pops up anywhere in the coming weeks. Great video Cam
I really want to get an Iron Heart but I know I will become addicted instantly and really trying to cut back on spending. I feel like I have so many clothes for a guy. Ugh, but I need to at least get one this season. I'm sold! LOL Thank you for sharing. I really like these heavy line colorways.
Glad to see you finally rockin a western shirt, the pockets look badass! Also that colorway is not so much punchy imo, the light blue and faded colors look vintage and muted. Agreed with you on the sleeves I'm also used to shorter sleeves for actually working on a desk etc. but do appreciate the look and warm of longer sleeves from time to time.
I had to size up to XXL but it fits perfectly and I benefit from the longer sleeves. I’m typically a Large in US sizes. It’s my first Iron Heart shirt and now I’m curious if their other shirts will fit similarly 👀
Im 180cm and 75kg and usually a Medium in everthing from T-shirts to jackets but in Ironheart flannels (I got this 20th anniversary) Im a size L and it fits me perfect. I have also one IHSH-208 indigo in size M but that one fits like a fancy dress shirt aka to tight and not how a flannel should fit imho. Hope some got something out of this rant. Cheers 🇸🇪🙏
@@michaelshearer3559 wouldn’t really make a big deal knowing my height and weight since our builds are more than likely a lot different. Buy two sizes and return the shirt that doesn’t fit. Take those measurements and that should be your sizing.
Hello Cameron, funny i wore mine today, i had the chance to buy it last wednesday in Switzerland, the last one of the shop... Really difficult to find a brand new one now in Europe...
Unfortunately, this shirt was sold out before I could afford it. I have been wanting one since and was very lucky recently to get one in nearly new condition from UK eBay for £265. Exceptional shirt, for me, Iron Heart set the standard for flannel shirts
Gorgeous flannel shirt, good on you if you want and can pop for one. I recently tumbled-across some high quality flannel from Timberland, thick, 💯 cotton and only about 40-50 bucks on sale.
Those sleeves would annoy me too, maybe it's as best it's sold out for me. Just got me a pair a IH jeans, most expensive pair for me by a long shot. Worth it? Dunno we'll see after a year or so how they fades. Whish they had some more details like Samuri though. That will probably be my next pick, hard to find around here though.
I'm the same height/weight as you and opted for an XL. In love with the shirt but the sleeve length really is frustrating... But minor gripes aside, it really is the perfect garment for getting cosy in on a cold evening
I wish the upper body on the westerns were better proportioned. My entire closet would be IH if that as the case. I’m the same height and weight as you but need the XL. Sleeves and waist end up being a little too big :/
Spot on review. I find myself in between sizes. Since it’s only available in western I had to move up in size, making the sleeves a bit long. I don’t mind cuffing it, since it’s such a beautiful colorway. I’m a sucker for Ironheart, I also picked up #IHSH-336-NAV Crazy check and loving both.
Thanks man. I try not to look at their site on Fridays for fear of wanting something new! but this flannel is so good. Just been away in Aus and wore it on the (cold) flights there. Was soo good!
Hey Cam! It's a year now, so give us an update. Has the shirt changed much? Inside wear? Sleeve creases? Mine has molded to the body in ways different from other IH UHF. Do tell.
Hey! Well tbh not sure it's worth a video. I've worn it A LOT, especially since being home with a newborn. So you can imagine it has to go in the wash a lot. The colours seem to be the same and it's not really changed too much. Any creases seem to go back after a wash. I might do a flannel round up video soon.
Hey guys long comment ahead but i'm sure a lot of you can relate. I think we're all glad to see that the interest in good quality clothing, artisanal brands, and more sustainable way of consuming clothes has gone way up in the last few years ( at least in menswear ). But i think that for a lot of us it brought some very very bad habits. Let's be honest : most of us used to NOT CARE that much about clothing and didn't overybuy anything, and at the beginning we might have not been interested in "style" or " fashion" at all. But deep down we all like good things, made well and ethical. So when we got introduced to the fact that there are brands that makes really good stuff, ethical, nice looking and so on... of course we were super interested and went right down the rabbit hole. And i have to say that for myself and most of my friend that came after, we went totally overboard with it. And it the end it completely deflected the purpose of the thing. It was all about "buy less but better", " that one pair of jean that will last you a decade", "that only jacket you'll ever need". I can bet that most of you started to spend MUCH MORE and MUCH MORE OFTEN on clothing since you got in the "hobby". And that's because there's a really perveted since happening : we make ourselves think that it's FINE to buy that new flannel, pair of jeans of jacket or whatever because : " it's ethically made ", " yes it's expensive but in the long run it will be worth it", " that way i can support local brands". But let's face it : we end up with a wardrobe with way way WAY too much stuff. Stuff that we can't wear to the fullest, can't enjoy to the fullest. NOBODY needs 5 pairs of jeans, NOBODY needs 4 flannels, 3 winters jackets. We just get caught up in the pulsion of BUYING that " new stuff " that we want to try, and we make excuses for it. Don't get me wrong i LOVE what all theses brands do and i have a closet FULL of their stuff, but sometimes it takes someone from outside to make you realise : " oh shit i really went overboard with it " For me it was my girlfriend who started to look a me funny when yet another western shirt came in the mail 😄 Anyway, i'm sure a lot of you will relate. I wanted to post this for a long time and i hope it wasn't to hard to read as english isn't my first language. Cheers everyone !

@dick todd, what works best is to measure a shirt you really like the fit of, the same way Ironheart measures, then use those numbers to find the size that works best for you. Ignore tag size, I’ve found it to be somewhat irrelevant. I have IH shirts in Xl, XXL, XXXL and they all fit pretty much the same. Use those numbers!
